  1. None of the other attacks have resulted in injury so were not reported. The lab owner has not reported it as yet. I will suggest it next time I see him. I feel sorry for the dog though, I feel this aggressive behaviour stems from being attacked and could be helped by a behaviourist. But I agree for the safety of others something needs to be done. I will speak with the owner and warn him about dangerous dog declarations next time I see him. Maybe, maybe not. Not all dogs that are attacked become aggressive as a result of that. Some get over it and are never aggressive. A behaviourist may not be able to make a dog like this safe to ever be off-lead. I wouldn't want my dog around it. I feel sorry for it too, the owner knows it has a problem that causes it to be aggressive, and yet keeps putting the dog back in the same situation. Some dogs are not meant to be of-lead in public ever. Max was attacked but didnt turn aggressive :D
  2. I am sure you would be able to claim veterinary costs no matter whether its in or outside of an off leash area. Normally dog park says the dogs need to be under effective control - if a dog attacks another that is not effective control. Also if the attacking dog is DA then it shouldnt be at the dog park. My jenna is aggressive towards other dogs and doesnt set foot in dog parks - however i have taken her to steve and are working towards getting her better. I would also assume that whether or not an attack was provoked, the owner of the dog that didnt get hurt would be responsible for vet fees???

I havent watched it since - I wish someone had bloody told me they kill the dog because I didnt know when I first saw it and was absolutely BAWLING when I saw it. And I loved the movie so its a shame I probably wont watch it again. lol oh and how to you add pictures from photobucket? I want you guys to see my dogs Upload the picture to photobucket, then get the url of the photo (there's a little box that pops up when you mouse over each picture, url is.. the second one down, from memory). Then, back on Dol, click on the "add image" button in the post menu (directly to the right of the hyperlink button) and paste the url into the dialogue box that pops up. Alternatively, you can just type in the tags yourself around the url (img)http://imageURL.com(/img) replacing the ( with [ Thanks Hardy's Angel. I'm just uploading some now so pics will be up soon

  15. It's not exactly a new or unknown problem, there are actually some reacue groups that rehome just the blacks. http://www.blackpearldogs.com/ Blacks make up a substantial proportion of greyhounds (I can't remember the exact percentage but it's over 60%) and the blacks have always been the hardest for us to rehome. I actually have a small pile of applications on my desk right now, all of them set aside because they wanted "unusual" or "pretty" or "rare" coloured dogs (sadly, those are some of the actual words used in the applications)- and the current foster girl is just black. The colours people prefer in greyhounds seem to be fawn and blue, in particular, parti colour fawn or blues. We've actually only ever had two parti dogs, one of those was white with black (although she was cat-safe so rehomed very quickly) and the other was white and fawn (the greyhound on the right in my signature) but she failed small dog testing twice and was not suitable for rehoming. It's really quite disappointing that people would still prefer looks over temperament, our current foster is a lovely girl (very intelligent, gets along beautifully with other dogs and she's very people-oriented) but as soon as you tell people what colour she is, the interest in her disappears completely. I actually think black is the prettiest colour on greyhounds... how sad:( A black greyhound with a decent coat (as opposed to the fluffy brownish colour they often are when surrendered) usually actually looks a lot nicer than most of the other colours. A shiny black coat allows you to see the muscles beneath it really well and it looks stunning if you can get the lighting right. This is a picture of a foster boy we had- Getting the coat glossy takes a little bit of work (we use a Furminator to strip out the brown fluff) but it makes a huge difference. Edited to add.. The hound in the photo above hadn't been groomed for the picture, he probably could've looked a bit glossier with a few minutes of grooming. beautiful looking dog! Is it weird to be able to see GSD muscles? Whenever I see greyhounds and they're front (biceps???) I just want to touch them! They're incredible... what is weird is that Max (1yr 9 mnths) - you can see HIS muscles in the same spot. I know GSD are very lean dogs - and max is EXTREMELY lean - we get a lot of comments on his size which is nice - makes me feel like I've done something right!! and I can actually see his muscles beneath his reasonable long hair - is that weird?? we also do get comments on Jennas shape as well. I have been very blesses to have such good looking dogs - and their coats (MAx's especially) are incredibly shiny and smooth. I will have to take a picture so you guys can see!!
  16. What's funny is I have ALWAYS wanted a black cat. I have never been a very superstitious person - however I do have OCD and what is called 'superstitious thinking' if you guys have ever heard the psychological term!! A bit OT.... but this is what made me NOT superstitious, and I swear to God this happened... It was Black Friday (maybe another connection there - black friday?) and we had a guy fixing the gutter at the old house - there was a ladder over the stairway to go outside... without even thinking I walked straight under it, stopped, turned around and went 'ahh shit'. lol But of course, I didn't believe in the 'bad luck' thing so nothing bad happened... I think that is people BELIEVE something is bad luck - then it will be to them - mind over matter???
  17. Savage?? Haha! That has to be a myth right?? And TBH I prefer darker GSD's - mostly tri colour the most. my two are quite dark but have tan and even white patches on them. Jenna is much darker than max - has a much darker face... But I love it - and their colours!!
  18. I think they're quite striking! I love how many different colours some of them have. Very beautiful
  19. it's amazing isn't it. I absolutely LOVE black dogs. All the dogs I've owned have been black (or black and white or black and tan). And it is great because you don't see the dirst as much!! Cesar did say something about the photogenic thing as well - that black dogs arent as photogenic. I think its really sad. I would never not get a dog based on colour. Its all about tempermant... I would even get an 'ugly' dog... And I say 'ugly' because I think every dog is gorgeous in its own way!!1 :D
  20. I was watching Dog Whisperer last night and he was saying something about black dogs being the last to be adopted in shelters compared to other coloured dogs, or the first to be put down or something like that. he was also saying in Thailand (or Tawian - not sure) that black dogs are actually seen as bad luck and black dogs with white paws were even worse because they symbolise death. I just want to know what peoples opinions on this were... I think it is quite bizarre? I mean I respect people who have beliefs/superstitions - I used to be superstitious about full moons!!! (not anymore though). I just don't know why people have what Cesar called 'Black Dog Syndrome'???
  21. I think my girl is a GSD x Poodle. She has the worst coat which gets these tiny little tangles right on the skin. I keep her clipped for this reason. My Mildred has to be the oddest looking dog in general that I have ever seen. We are constantly being stopped on the street too. Here is Mildred in full coat and clipped. For anyone that remembers she is one of the "Renbury Bears", I adopted her from Cordi. what an odd looking but BEAUTIFUL dog!! I love her ears!!! She is gorgeous! I am not surprised you get people asking what she is. She has the eyes of a GSD - they look similar to my dogs' eyes. She is beautiful joanne!!! Absolutely beautiful!
