  2. I do understand where you are coming from as we had a very similar experience earlier this year. We didn't have a formal contract just an email confirming her sale as a show bitch with conditions etc. After a couple of phone calls and emails we haven't heard back from the breeder. I have since heard we aren't the only ones to have experienced problems. I have decided to forget about it, desex her and see if I can find her a good pet home as with council regulations as they are if I want to continue showing I can't afford to keep collecting dogs. One thing it has taught me is not to trust anyone - regardless and I think this is a very sad state of affairs for the dog world. Very similar situation we are in, we are about to have her surgery and have her desexed, but we are heartbroken that someone could do this and not even reply to our second email back after us telling her. We are considering rehoming her as we too are in a position that we can't keep collecting dogs either. Which is really hard because she has such a beautiful temperament, and her conformation except for her knees is exceptional. She is such a beautiful animal, and im a bit peeved to be put into this situation in the first place. Ditto Ditto !!
  3. How old is the dog Mille? We have only ever tested one of our boys prior to a mating and that was because he was an older dog that had never been used at stud. He'd been in four homes prior to coming to us so we wanted to make sure he still had swimmers The dog is 9 years old. They said they tested him in order to freeze sperm and he was ok for sperm count. I did ask about fertility because they originally wanted 3 matings over 3 days. I guess stud dog progeny record is not open to public view like online studbook AQHA horses? I have been out of dog breeding since 1970s (might be still out of it). Thanks for your comments. I tried to get information on stud dog's progeny through Dogs Vic but was advised that this information is no longer available due to the privacy laws now in force .
  4. Results for dog shows here in Victoria are very slow in being posted today even under specific show threads!!!

  6. Had a very similar problem - left OH in charge only to find that when I got home she wouldn't feed them at all. Even though pups were 6 weeks I was worried by the fact it happened in a day. OH said he had put her in with pups but she just climbed out all the time. I noticed one teat was a little larger than the other and I thought area felt a bit harder than I would have expected. I laid her in my lap and gave that area a good massage. She did go back in with pups and gave them some milk. When I checked her after this the area was soft. Now she just lets me know when she wants to get with the pups. Yesterday she wasn't with them at all but this morning wanted to get in with them and stood feeding them (well the pups were making lots of noises) - obviously when she feels she has milk to get rid of. Except for enlarged teats you can hardly tell she has feed pups.
  7. Maybe all too busy getting dried out to post any results!!!
  8. Just stopped raining here - going to send all out for a pee break while I can. Sun is trying to break through but by the look of the dark clouds to the south it won't last long. Hate to disturb them as all quietly sleeping but they all need a run as it has been raining here since 3:30am so it was only quick trip outside this morning.
  9. Having a breed that is know for having to have teeth removed (I found this out later) I had to have 4 baby teeth removed in my show dog. The pet retained teeth but they did fall out naturally down the track with no lasting effect. Never having had this issue before (alway had large dogs previously) I probably left it a bit late getting the teeth removed (just on 7 months) and as a result one of the adult canine teeth did come down on a bit of an angle on my show dog. I was told later I could have kept pushing it back when it was coming down but of course got this information after the event. I haven't heard of retained teeth being much of a problem in the Griffons but the younger girl here had to get a couple of her baby teeth removed - I tried giving bones, chews and encouraged the dogs to play tug of war with toys etc but still no success. The vet told me it wouldn't have mattered what I tried in his opinion I wouldn't of had any success. Both girls had a general anaesthetic but as I only left them for a short time (around 1 1/2 hours if I remember correctly) and they were with it when I picked them up so obviously only had a small dose. Vet knew they were show dogs so no hair shaved and showed the griffon that coming weekend. Guess it depends on whether the dog in question is going to be shown or not and how important teeth are in the standard of that breed eg Griffons teeth can be uneven where as it is expected in my other breed that the dog have an even scissor bite.
  10. If the weather bureau forecast is correct Saturday is going to be wet. Think I might wimp it tomorrow and head up there for Sunday. Hopefully it will have rained itself out by then.
  11. Has anyone heard what the ground conditions are like? I was told that it was raining all day (Friday) in Albury as friend was checking to see whether I would be still coming up.
  12. In Victoria a few sell it but I bought mine around 12 months ago from Peperone (advertise on this site) paid $30 per metre. I much prefer the green back version for my needs as I find the rubber wears off even with careful washing.
  13. Congratulation on getting a new GSD pup. Just out of interest who is standing Vegas at stud? German Shepherds were part of my life years ago and I still love and admire them greatly although I don't share my life with one at present.
  14. Would you know who's Shih Tzu ? Thanks
  15. You access the LoveMyFurBabies website - choose the type, size and material you would like and then make contact and order. It was the easiest and quickest option for me.
  16. Not normally having any males here I offered to mind a dog and when I went to pick him up realised that he really wasn't what I would call house trained. I borrowed a belly band and he was in it constantly (was spending a lot of time inside with us). Husband has renamed him bellyband Bob as he isn't allowed inside unless he is wearing one. I decided to purchase a couple of bands for convenience. I was pleased with both the goods and service provided by LoveMyFurBabies. They are advertisers on DOL forum page. The first one I borrowed has stretched a bit but it came to me that way and with a couple of bleach stains on it. I also ordered britches for the girls.
  17. Would you be able to tell me which lab you used in the US - have pups to test so wouldn't mind giving them a try.
  18. Another Comfortis user here. Started all dogs on it here again from October. Had to find a solution last summer when the flea problem reared its ugly head here for the first time. After using Capstar, flea washes and rinses I was sick of washing and spraying the dogs continually - easy with the short coated breed but a pain with the long coats. Decided to try Comfortis and had to pay a premium for it at a local petstore around the $75.00 mark as i needed it urgently. Now I buy it on Ebay or I can order from the Ebay sellers online store - Budget Pet Products. Just renewed my supply and it cost $48.75 for Comfortis pink 6 pack with free postage and handling. While it works for me I will keep using it.

  20. I am only showing one dog who is not registered to me at the present and I usually put the owners name on the envelope and then address it c/- my details. So far have only had one query about cheque not being in the name of the owner (did have chq no noted on entry) otherwise no problems at all.
  21. I recently bought Comfortis off Ebay ($50.00 which included free p&h)and the company also has an online service as well as an Ebay shop. I have just repurchased again from them as price and service was in my opinion good. I have only bought the one product from them so unable to compare with other items. Comfortis Pink (6 pack) was $48.70 with free postage and handling on Ebay. They trade under the name of Budget Pet Products aand are located in QLD. Website: budgetpetproducts.com.au if you want to check them out.
  22. My young son had a a piece of a bush (similar to a long thorn) inbeded in his calf and while we thought the Dr may have to open and then stitch the leg but she was very reluctant to do so and suggested trying a poltice as first option. Must admit we walked away shaking our heads but to our amazement the item came to the surface after a few days and was expelled without any invasive procedure. Very simple poltice but didn't have immediate results - guess it also depends on how deep the item is. Don't know if it would successful on dogs but I guess you could give it a try. All you do it take a piece of white bread dip it in white sugar place on the site and bind it in place. From memory (few years ago now) we changed it twice a day. Could it be a papaloma???
  23. Virgin have announced that they are bringing in extra planes and staff to help out travellers. Mentioned a special fare rate for stranded passengers holdng Qantas tickets subject to availability of course. Talk of special counters at airports and a special area on their website.
  24. I am using the suspension on toy pups only until they are old enought to start eating so it is easy to get part of a tablet into them.
  25. Someone I know was contacted by a lady in Singapore who owns a male toy poodle and was looking for another dog - no mention of a labradoodle. Person was reluctant to send one over as she said they can appear nice over the phone but too hard to check them out. Very sad we can no longer take someones word but that's the way it is today. Too many have been burnt.
