Hi Piper, I got the rain coats not the winter ones. The winter ones are lined with fleecy stuff which looked too hot for a double coated breed in my coastal area where we live. IMHO even in a colder climate a BC wouldnt need a "winter" coat. My boy is a big boy at almost 57cmm from top of shoulder to start of tail. Stella is smaller at 55cm. I brought 55cm for both. I think if I were you I would remeasure your 2 & be sure of their back measurement . From how you describe them you have it right though. If they are in between sizes I'd go the size down. The Hurtta is very adjustable everywhere so it is the back sizing you have to make sure is right :)

Both my guys had Weatherbeeta rain coats before I got our new Hurtta rain coats. The main reason I wanted to try something new was the WB coats didn't seem to stay in place & I was forever fiddling with them. They also weren't rain proof. IMHO the Hurtta ones are a better shape. They fit much better. There is elastic loops to put your dogs hind through to help hold the coat in place. Best of all they weigh next to nothing. Bit like a spray jacket if you will. My girl who doesn't like coats tolerates this coat very well. I think because she doesn't get overly hot. Big YES vote here for them.

Fish Oil And Another Dose Of Ap...

I use Megaderm 3, 6 plus E on my guys each day. Around 20 ml for 20 kg dog. Coats & skin look in excellent condition here :) -
I'm at a loss for words at peoples stupidity at times, I really am....

Just wanted to add poochiemama. Try not to look at too much nasty stuff online if possible. Especially late at night. Just a suggestion. Found it does help a bit. Some of us are just born too sensitive for this world at times IMHO. So we may need to steel ourselves somewhat emotionally. Redirect our mind set & our focus. Try to remain positive. It is not easy to do & takes practise & time but you can teach yourself improved coping skills.

Yes I have been sharpening up my " off switch " . There are good people in this world. And no we can't save the world. We can just do our very best to do what we can.

I thought this heart ache over visually seeing something disturbing happening to an animal only happened to me poochiemama. I relive horrific images that I may have stumbled across on line by accident over & over. I have night mares a lot about the misery that dogs may be going through at the hands of some evil humans. When it is raining at night & we are all tucked up cosy in our beds. I cry for the dogs that are chained outside in the freezing cold without the 4 simplest things. Shelter, food & water.... & most importantly to be loved.

Oh my gosh !!! He is breathtakingly handsome Cassie. Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous boy with us :)

Didn't think it would be cold enough but I guess it is very wet at times. Sometimes it just isn't practical to have a wet dog especially inside your home. I know when we go in our caravan on hols, you certainly don't want 2 soaking wet BC's inside That's when I really get quite a bit of use from our coats in the pouring rain.

Tried out our new Hurtta rain coats yesterday. Love them. They fit very well. Sonny's is a little short but the next size up would definitely of flogged him & it certainly doesn't look too short. Stella's is perfect. They are made out of much lighter fabric than I expected which is great as they wont get too hot. Still seem to keep them fairly dry as well. Very happy with them. Thanks again for your help with sizing JulesP :D

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
BC Crazy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
100% agree Hankdog. I don't think reactivity is a lack of obedience at all. It is more of a compulsive act. They react anxiously because that is there way of coping with what they see as a threatening situation. Stella is extremely reactive as most folks know & yet she is so obedient & will turn herself inside out if need be to 'please' me. She hates to be wrong or in trouble & becomes very sad if she is, which is very rare. However once she has reacted to something & I don't distract her train of thought. She becomes oblivious to everything/everyone apart from what she is reacting to. She too I wouldn't consider a 'normal dog who is misbehaving. I consider her too to be very dysfunctional, extremely high anxiety at times & also extremely noise/sound phobic. Has she improved??? Yes she has. Will she ever be a quote 'normal, mellow girl??? No. I have also had to help Stel enjoy her walks. She was like a little robot as a youngster. She wouldn't sniff/toilet/explore at all on lead. Gradually I have over time got her to do all of the above which is a pleasure to witness. I wanted her to 'breathe', enjoy the walk as much as Sonny & I do cause that is what it's all about for us :) Apart from when Stella is reactive be it on lead or off she is so well behaved you wouldn't think it was the same girl to be honest. -
Dogue De Bordeaux / English Mastiff Puppy. New Pic's Of Kirby
BC Crazy replied to BC Crazy's topic in Puppy Chat
Have you heard of many BYB's that hip and elbow score their animals? Then let the dogs go at 6 weeks. I do know of one actually, But back then that was my point, just broaching it in a nicer way! No I don't think so OSS. Thats so important too . I just have fingers crossed that Kirby is going to be blessed with great hips. What else can I do. Such a worry really especially in the large breeds. -

(4th Dayd Update)(solved)urgent- Puppy Blood In Poo
BC Crazy replied to ka89's topic in General Dog Discussion
That is a great 4th day update Ka89. Look how far you have come in just 4 days. Well done to you. Cookie is going to feel so much better for being wormed Im guessing. There isn't really any need to put the food or water in the kennel. Just wait till you get it all cosy with the blankets then see how Cookie goes. Also when you get the Kong for him. Simply put something yummy in the Kong. Give Cookie a little lick then lure him into the kennel with it & he should stay in there to finish his Kong. That should get him started :) -
Yes stunning shot teekay of that beautiful coastline. Breathtaking really. Congrats to you Gapvic.... your photo's are always awsome. Well done :)

Oh thanks for being an enabler Serkat LOL. My guys would love an Occy. Am going to buy them one each as they don't play together with one toy. They like one each. Your pup is a real heart stealer... just adorable & spirited. I love the rougue ones the best. So much fun :)
