  1. Don't mean to a downer on your dreams at all but if I were you & wanting a show puppy, I'd be shopping around. As a correct bite is just so important in a showie it would be a deal breaker for me if the puppy is an overshot. Take your time, look around you will find a puppy in your chosen breed with correct bite. Good luck in chasing your dream. Keep us posted :)
  2. I am not your breed experienced but both my Border Collies over shots & are definitely not suitable for the showing due to their incorrect bite unfortunately. Answer to 2nd question... can it correct itself ? It can in some cases it can but there are no promises. My boy was about 5ml overshot when I brought him home at 9 weeks & by 11 months of age when his jaw had finished growing his jaw almost corrected it self . He is only 1mm overshot. My girl was more severely overshot 8mm at 12 weeks but hers didn't improve at all with maturity at all.
  3. It means how does Murphy actually look??? How is his over all appearence? Is his coat shiny? His skin is healthy, not flakey ?Does he have great energy levels? His weight is good? Signs of food intolerence sometimes are itchy paws/skin. Scratching alot. Flakey skin. Dandruff. Ear issues. Loose stools at times. These are some of the questions to ask yourself when you wonder if you have him on the right dry food. If you are in doubt you can try a few different dry food samples with Murphy. See how he goes.
  4. Yes have to totally agree again with you Hankdog. I too am past freaking out. The fast U turn is our best friend, also the cross the road. If we do continue walking past, it is done quickly usually. The results are usually mixed. "leave it" works wonders with us. Some days Stella will surprise me & completely ignore say a group of dogs. Then other days she will completely loose it over 1 dog, miles away. She is usually much more reactive to another dog if they are moving. Running or chasing a ball etc. will bring her undone quickly. I too use distraction. The fast game of retrieve is winning at the moment when I'm at the beach. She is continuing to place herself in front of a rock wall in readiness for our 'special fast game' when certain dogs approach that she usually reacts to. Which I am thrilled about. This seems to be paying off for us. I have all her attention at this time. I believe 100 dogs could walk by & she would still be focused totally on me. Where I'm going to go with this positive drill I'm unsure. Will have to get my thinking cap on for that one. HD, it must be very unnerving for Jake having limited eye sight. This certainly must be more frightening for him. He can't actually see whats 'over there' clearly. Poor fella. He is going really well though. Snook thanks for your kindness. Justice has certainly come along way considering what has unfortunately occurred at the dog day care place. Well done :)
  5. I wouldnt go near Black Hawk. Took me well over a year to get my dogs coats back in condition. Dont know much about Iams. Heard good things about Royal Cannin. I use Canidae pure sea, Earthborn Holistic or am currently trying out Sunday Pets which I am very happy with thus far. I like to have a few kibbles to choose from for variety. Both my guys have special needs though. No grain, corn, wheat or Soy etc & they are on 80% raw diet. Having said this. The best dry food for your pup is the one that he does the best on. My suggestion besides find out what the breeder suggests. Research a few dry foods. Go over ingredient lists etc then get a couple of sample bags & see how pup goes before buying a huge bag. Good luck. There are quite a few premium ones to choose from :)
  6. Nawwwww.... love this photo of him. Dear little fella. He is just adorable perse
  7. I have no experience with the breed either but from what I have read they are breed as guarders of live stock. Like to roam & are pretty strong willed. Not for the inexperienced. With both adults working almost full time,& only 1 acre of ground, not so sure. They are a gorgeous looking dog. There are breeders on Dol . I know Clyde has them. Hopefully someone in the know will be able to assist you :)
  8. Very pretty girl...Majestic even
  9. I'm guilty of the exact same thing Hankdog. I have my hand in the treat bag way before I need to then. I will try to delay my action slightly today on our walk. See how we go. Stella has been going really well. She did run up to another dog yesterday but she had a sniff, she did a play bow & I then called her, she came back asap.Straight to my feet & sat. We seem to have far more reactivity when she is on lead these days. Previously she was very reactive both on & off lead but I have been noticing lately she has been much improved with meet & greet off lead. She stands still has a sniff then off she goes. I always screen all the approaching dogs though. We have been practising on the dogs I have known for years. So far she is doing really well :)
  10. K9 Pro. stock the Ruffwear Harnesses.
  11. What is it with our girls???? They like to smell like S#!TE  Dear little Elsie is adorable :)
  12. Oh dear that looks quite nasty, doesn't it? Poor fella. My boy had a similar thing on his nose but not as cranky looking. He got it from digging in the dirt. Vet gave us some antibiotics & it cleared up very quickly. Good luck with him. I hope he gets better very soon. Can't be very comfortable, dear fella. I'd be doing everything that Persephone suggested. Excellent advice as usual :)
  13. Yes will be following with great interest. good luck in your search Snippy. Slightly OT for a second folks. By the way went luring on the Sammi's breed pages & spotted your boy. He is stunning... His coat will improve, don't worry. Nothing that a good diet & care wont fix. Which he probably hasn't had much of neither in quite some time. Give him a big fluffy cuddle for me :D
  14. RIP special Maisie girl Sorry for your loss Kirty.
  15. Way to go Hankdog Good boy Jakey Thats terrific HD. Jake weighed up that situation & actually chose to stay clam instead of reacting. Fabulous !!! He has come such a long way. Isn't it wonderful when you have a moment like that when they 'get it'.
  16. Oh geez.... How very beautiful & so very sad Yep, I think it's the hardest thing in the world to do but also the kindest. When I gave my rescue heart dog Border Collie his wings I had him booked in this particular day in the afternoon but during the morning he lapsed into a coma at home. So I carried him to the car & we made 'our last car ride' to the Vet. I will never forget it, it was the longest drive ever. It was amazing though because when he was on the Vets table just before he had his last needle, I had me arms around him & he actually half woke up, moaned & looked right into my eye's, licked my face as if to say 'bye for now' then he was gone.... Gosh he was a beautiful soul
  17. I bet the look on the delivery mans face was priceless I would of just kissed him to pieces..... Sumo that is :p
  18. Beautiful photo of your lovely family huga. Just gorgeous. I am at the other end of the breast scale but I would do what you have done in a heart beat & have a reduction if I were. I could think of nothing worse. You must feel so much more comfortable now :)
  19. Hi my step son has a Dogue/ Mastiff baby girl just a bit younger than your girl. There is a thread on " Kirby" on this puppy section. I know Shannon did have biting issues with her as well but she seems to have settled now. Any pics of your girl????? :)
  20. Oh poor ol' gal :( 17 years old.....how anyone can dump any animal they have had in their "care". Let alone a grand old gal is way beyond me & extremely sad. It happens far to frequently. Like they are disposable. After all their years of devotion to their owner. Sickens me .
  21. Mine are lined Sheena with a very thin fabric with really small breathable holes in it. The winter ones have a polar fleecy type lining from what I can make out in the pictures Ive seen :)
  22. They look lovely coats for a waterproof warm coat Boxer 5. I'm sure your guys will love them :)
  23. It it doesn't need to be waterproof then I'd love the look of the Chilly Dog coats from K9 Pro. They look really cosy, comfortable & warm to me. For an inside dog that feels the cold. They would be my choice.
