  1. Halti's do NOT teach manners... No 'equipment' will...It's the responsibility of the owner to teach the dog. If the owner need help to do this then it's up to them to engage the help of a breed savvy trainer to guide them :)
  2. SG...That is why I originally answered about the 'halti'requirment :)
  3. Most certainly perse. I would get an expert in to help especially a GHD at 9 mths of age. Extremely important time frame in a dogs maturity. Sorry didn't notice what state this pup was in. If in Vic I would give Nekhbet a call. I was addressing the Halti issue but I too think professional help may be needed.
  4. Sizing is very important. Also for success the infin must be adjusted to fit the dogs face correctly. I don't like normal Halti's as the leash attachment is under the nose which tends to pull the dogs nose down wards. The Infins leash attachment is on top of the dogs neck as it is martingale collar.
  5. I have used the Black Dog Infin-8 & I really liked it. It's the only halti type dog gear I would recommend. Works slightly differently to all other halti's. It is a martingle collar with a nose loop. As your pup starts to improve on lead, you can just remove the nose piece. Well worth a look :)
  6. Well done Del So pleased raineth that it all went so well for both of you :D Bet you are more than a little pleased. You certainly handled the situation extremely well. I think it always pays off to have a plan. Organize how you want things to play out. Most of all, take it slowly. You did ALL of the above Some dogs just don't like muzzles full stop.Seems to frighten them. Stella doesn't worry at all apart from trying to get them off with her paw & she only does that with the material ones. The cage type has never bothered her. I only have to muzzle her on Vet visits & again it is fear based aggression. We are making progress with the Vet though. Slow as it has been, at least she will walk in now. She also suffers the examination without too much anguish.
  7. WOW..... amazing. Beautiful photos :)
  8. Thanks SG :) Stella is so food driven its ridiculous. It is like she is following my hands with her eyes constantly. So while she is very obedient, she wont hold say a down/ stay. She bounces straight back up. She is in such a hurry to get a reward. ATM we are going OK with heeling but as soon as I move my bait hand away she pops infront of me & sits, thinking she can have anther treat. She is very fast & extremely bright. I know its me not doing something right. Always got to think outside the square with her.
  9. Lovely update Bianca.a. great news Cooper is doing well. Strong is excellent !!!!! Looking forward to the pic's :)
  10. Amax-1, Yes I use to think Sonny, my male was fast till I got Stella. I'm afraid he just eats Stella's dust  Then you can relate to how tired I am by the end of the day. Stella takes every bit of energy I have, then some. Any hint's as to how to manage her would be greatly appreciated  How did you manage to get his concerntration long enough to train him. I have issues with that at times.
  11. So sorry to hear this sad news persephone Gorgeous collage of beautiful Dougal. RIP fella... run free & go chase plenty of bunnies
  12. It will always be Flynn for me I'm afraid. I said the same thing to Kelly, Sheena. If Flynn ever goes missing, you know exactly where to find him, in my pocket
  13. No, not at all in my opinion :) Think they will go down a treat actually.
  14. I have an Ezydog Quick-fit harness atm but I am concerned my girl would be able to get out of it to. So am in the market for a new style harness for her. She walks perfectly on lead but we do alot of bush walking over some pretty rugged terrain. It is easier to pick her up with a harness on. Also I like to put her in harness on a long lead as there is quite a few kangaroo's that she likes to chase. She has really good recall but I'm concerned as they are so dangerous if they turn on her. So I don't allow her to. Best option for us is a nice comfy harness & long lead. I think I've made my mind up though, Ruffwear Webmaster seems to be the best suited for our needs :)
  15. Yes... This is my favorite ad. at the moment. Flynn is to die for And yes that eye roll....I could kiss that face to pieces  Kelly could train anything. Definitely gifted that lovely lady. Thanks Sheena, now I can watch it a few more times

  20. They look great lisaCC. Love your Aussie too :) Maybe a better fit for my girl than the Ezydog.
  21. I thought the same Westiemum. They just look that bit more supportive than the quick fits. I was after something a bit better for Stella when I have her on a long line.
  22. OMG... What a great photo Such characters you have there juice. "just chillin' I gather
  23. What a great idea to have the park kind of section off for those who play a little rougher & the space for those who don't Excellent
  24. Off Topic for one moment. Just wanted to say thank you showdog for the 'heads up' regarding Pantene shampoo & conditoner. Does a fabulous job on both my BC's. Very happy with the results :) much kinder on my tight budget too. Thanks again. Back to the thread guys thanks. I always avoided Pantene because Procter & Gamble tested on animals. I believe they still do in order to have access to the huge Chinese market? Well.... I didn't know that guys Be the first & last bottle I buy then. I'm disgusted. Sorry back on topic again.
