Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread

I say the very same thing now days JulesP. I used to be nice but I wasn't being heard, so now it's Mrs attitude when need be. Why folks think dogs need to befriend every other dog in sight is beyond me. My guys are quite happy to just hang together. 3 is a crowd with us & that doesn't bother me one bit. Driveway ducking  -
Parents State Dogs Responsible For Critical Injuries To Toddler
BC Crazy replied to j's topic in In The News
Reminds me of being in Cas at Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick,NSW many many years ago. Ambos signalled they were bringing in a seriously hurt child. No further info was given. They arrived with a wee bundle aged 6 weeks old. He smelt like he never had ever been cleaned. He just whimpered. The boy friend had been grabbing him by his ankle & bouncing him off the sofa. Why? Because bubs cried. Had the best case ever of industrial deafness when two Detectives spoke to that creature. Pretty astounding the chair he was sitting on broke. Depsite all the efforts by the boy friend, the baby had no injury other than bruises & a dislocated hip. After being cleaned up & fed, this wee man would lie in his cot being happy just as an innocent should. Mother was a junkie. Boy-friend no hoper. The paternal Grandmother ended up with custody & raised the boy very well. As for the no-hopers, even to this day I hope they like Hell. Oh my god... Vizsla M your story & others make me feel sickened to the core... Poor little baby. 6 weeks old. Karma had better be working 'big time' on that pair. One can only hope. Gotta watch those chairs though. Funny how they can just break isn't it???? Pity it wasn't his neck IMHO. So pleased that grand mother raised him well. Not that she should have to but for the sake of the baby I'm so glad she did. -
Thats terrific Leah I didn't realize Sarah was an X puppy farm girl. You have done wonders with her. Well done. Sarah must be pinching herself everyday for her marvelous new found life. All thanks to you :D Heart warming stuff...

Parents State Dogs Responsible For Critical Injuries To Toddler

Couldn't agree more Caz. Enough of this pandering around with the likes of these monsters & that is exactly what they are, MONSTERS They should be made pay for the atrocities they did each & everyday for the rest of their days. Simple. The rest of their lives should be made hell on earth as far as I'm concerned & nothing less. They too should live in constant fear, afraid to shut their eye's at night, just like this dear little boy probably had to. Poor little bugger :( Just makes me feel so very, very sad.... -

How anyone could harm defenseless children or animals I will NEVER, NEVER understand.... -
Parents State Dogs Responsible For Critical Injuries To Toddler
BC Crazy replied to j's topic in In The News
Because they are allowed to take no responsibility for their actions, imo. If they go before the Justice system, their defence is no ice cream as a child. As I type, the TV just reported that the stepfather in this case tortured the child for a period of 51 days.... The mother then conspired to commit murder. Both tried to disguise their part in the eventual death. Wanton murderers. 100% agree with both DD & VM. So very sad for little ones that didn't ask to be there in the first place... No words, too angry... I hope kalma has it's way with them & some... -

Introducing Malamute Puppy To New Playmates
BC Crazy replied to ellejaytee's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes, just so no one gets accidently injured. Things can quickly get out of hand sometimes & ends up a "free for all". Supervised, on leads outing. Teaching controlled interaction. Learning manners :) -

Don't beat yourself up too much Jemmy. Everything is always so 'crystal clear' in hindsight. When you are in the moment things seem to happen so very quickly. I think you went very well all things considered :) I just usually do a U turn & head off in the opposite direction & pick up the pace a bit. Had a similar thing happen to us the other day. Brain was still waking up. I had just left home with my 2. Got about half a block away & there, smack bang in the middle of the road was a German Shepard. Gorgeous dog. But I wont lie I was terrified. I didn't know if he was aggressive or not. Obviously got out from somewhere, no owner in sight & he is heading directly for us Before I knew both my guys were going off their nut at him. I was worried he was going to get run over as he ran on & off the road. Lucky for us a very kind guy who was driving past, saw what was happening. He jumped out of his car & called the stray Shep over to him. He turned out to be the nicest dog & just wanted a game. Anyway before long the owner came & collected him. Terrible handler error here. I gave my guys no direction at all...I should of done something like turned in opposite direction or something. Instead I froze with fear. Played out what I 'thought' was going to happen in my mind. I over thought, was totally wrong & ended up doing nothing as I let my fears take over. This happened quite a while ago & thank goodness I do think my handling skills have improved since then. Also am much more focused & aware of my surrounding at all times. It's all part of the huge learning curve IMHO -
Another big thanks from me too Espinay. Great link

I wouldn't be too concerned. She could be just excited or feeling really happy. She is just being a puppy :) My 3 year old speyed bitch humps the air for about 5 seconds after we play a game of tug o war sometimes. She is just excited is all. Never does it any other time & has always done it. She always been very quirky though

Amazing :) A lot of trail & error by all account. It is whatever works for your dog, isn't it. I love Augustines. I tried the Superboost when Sonny was recovering from a food intolerance. Also used it from time to time when Stella wasn't well with rapid, noticeable improvement in over all condition.

Ear Tip Issue - Treatments And Progress
BC Crazy replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thats amazing Erny. Your poor dog. That ear was such a mess. It looked so darn sore. Poor fella has certainly been through a dreadful time with his skin issues You have worked wonders with him. He is so very fortunate to have you :) I am a huge Calendula Tea convert. Marvelous stuff. I wouldn't of believed it unless I saw it myself. Amazing!!! I brought some from my local health shop but I'm in need of some more. Fellow Doler Steve is the person who sells it online isn't he Erny? -
This is the time of year hives are more likely to occur. With lawn going to seed & things like that. If your dog lays on your lawn for instance. My male always gets slightly itchy feet at this time of year only for a couple of weeks.

Sonny would love one of these. He is very scent driven. I think they look great. Hope they can get them on the market
