This is just a tragic story This poor puppy, of course it has bonded to it's own.Sounds like this pup has been given no alternative. I just don't understand why these people got another pup when they don't have time for the one they have already. Once again, the only one that suffers is the puppy & it didn't ask to be there in the first place. My heart goes out to him & I truly hope that he finds someone who has the time & dedication to help him to make the transition over to become a much loved family member. He deserves that much surely.

I would get 2 crates. It is too much of a confined space both in one crate & if something went wrong & one couldn't get out I have 2 BC's & crate both mine in the laundry every night. The older boy I leave the crate door open for him & he gets up & wonders about if he wants. The little girls crate is pushed up against his but I close her in when they go to bed otherwise she would drive my boy nuts as all she wants to do is play. This works well for us ATM.

Just wondering how you are getting on JulesP in this most difficult time , unfortunately I understand how how you are hurting to a point as I have also had my very first BC bitch "Candy" baited 18 years ago, she was 10 years old & the dearest dog you could ever meet. bad enough losing her but I also knew who did it & couldn't prove it. It was very well planned as they new I wouldn't be home this day to save her. The horror of this situation was almost to much to bear. Some people cannot handle rejection, so he decided to hurt the closest thing to me, Candy. I still carry guilt around to this day about it & I made sure that her death would not be in vain. I was on my own for years after that by choice. Finally meeting someone very special with the patience of a saint & we have 2 beautiful furry kids, life is good. Things do get better eventually JulesP, you are not alone but ATM it is just very hard to fathom that. Brock hasn't left you completely as he will always have a special place in your heart. Take care & try not to be to hard on yourself. Love your furry kids every chance you get

My boy got Kennel cough at 18 months & he has never been in a kennel & was vaccinated against it. My vet said it is very contagious & he most probably would have copped a much worse dose of it had he not had the vaccination. Comes down to personnal choice I guess, he is your dog. I always have mine done cause they mix with a lot of other dogs.

AWWWW !!! That is sooooo cute Dandybrush, with their jumpers on. Willow has grown heaps.

Both mine swim in salt water everyday Olivebaby & I hose them off everyday ( we have hot water outside ) very handy! I wash them roughly every 2 to 3 weeks but I find it better to dilute the shampoo in a bucket of water then sponge it on them, then rinse off, then heaps of conditioner, not as drying on their skin. I hope I am not doing the wrong thing with my girl as I play fetch with her down the beach on the sand she loves to run. I don't do it anywhere else though. We go for long walks ( 2 hours ) everyday but that is on & off lead through bush & on the beach. We do have 'time-out's' as well, we sit down for a little rest, then off we go again. Hope that is not over doing it for a 7 month BC, got me worried now. She is still up for a game when we get home sometimes & I am buggered LOL

Dangerous Dog On The Loose - Thornleigh, Nsw
BC Crazy replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in General Dog Discussion
Might be the best thing for him - sorry, I don't think DA dogs should be allowed to live I answered one of those very ad's in our local paper & ended up rescuing a magnificent, extremely abused/traumatized red/white Border Collie, who gave my 14.5 years of total love & devotion. He was just a beautiful boy. R.I.P. Redman run free sweet boy Every situation is different, isn't it? I believe it is never the dogs fault. 100 % clueless owners. Hope they find this poor dog before someone is seriously hurt. And yes kids should not be left to walk dogs without supervision. Anything could happen. -
Sorry, where's the movie camera when you need one!

Jesus, that takes the cake! You are lucky to be around to tell the story by the sounds. Poor thing. How aweful.

My OH can't give me a kiss without Sonny my 3 year BC rushing over & putting himself in between us & the 'look' my OH gets off him, it's so funny like, "what are you doing, thats my mum" then he looks back at me with a big smile on his face OH was never a big fan of dog's when we meet. But we have converted him. Loves our 2 to bits. Comes home from work & it's "how are the kids today" while he is rolling around on the floor with them, while they are giving him kisses. He is a keeper. Who would of thought. Just goes to show you, our furry kids are much more than a pretty faces. ;) :D

Ditto, so glad someone asked the question, got totally confused with all the different fine print. It is a very good safety net I think, you just never know whats around the corner, fingers crossed you never have to make a claim.

Sure it would be a safer bet to keep out of long grass & heavily treed areas but having said that I have had dogs get ticks on them when they haven't been out of our yard. If it is a windy day ticks can be blown around. I just check over mine religiously, everyday without fail. You can never be too careful with these hidious pests.

Do You Have A List Of What Breeds You Want To Own One Day?
BC Crazy replied to Aztec Gold's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would have another Border Collie in a heart beat, just love them to bits. As I already have 2 i reckon 3 would just about tip OH right over the edge & into the divorce court. When I get to old to give a Border everything they need exercise wise I will be looking at a Papillon.I have never owned a small dog before but figure they would be easier to take care of when I'm an older gerry, LOL. The more I hear about these little guys the more I like. -
Halti Or Gentle Leader Head Collar
BC Crazy replied to charley101's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I love my Infin-8 halters by Black Dog. I use them on both my kids & they are fantastic. They aren't harsh & they don't ride up their face like other halters seem to do & are very effective. As they improve on their lead you just take the nose band off if you want. They get used to them very easily as well. My boy had an issue snapping at things ( in particular, car's ) passing by when we were out walking & he was younger I used it to have more control over his head & it made it much easier to correct him. He used to always slip a flat collar which worried me no end. Infin-8 worked for us. -
Fish Oil & Glucosamine For Golden
BC Crazy replied to SarahJ88's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I am just saying that works for us thus far as both mine look shinny & healthy. It is economical to boot Yes but the OP was asking about glucosamine and chondroitin for joints, both Euk and BH contain it, but I suspect as in the case of Euk, it's not the RDI for dog Yes & I was just saying what I have been doing with my 2 & so far we have not had joint or mobility issues. -

Fish Oil & Glucosamine For Golden
BC Crazy replied to SarahJ88's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi, Both mine are on Black hawk holistic but they also get 1000mg fish oil capsule & 1 linseed capsule per day, they love the taste of them, just gobble them down. -
Hi, Our local vet has 'head's up' that the tick season has started very early with a large number of dogs already being treated for tick systems. I live about 3 hours north of Sydney & I got a small tick of my boy's chest about 3 week's ago. I use Advantix every 2 week's. Can't use a Preventic tick collar on my kids cause they swim everyday & those collars aren't waterproof but very effective. Advantix I find really good though as it is only the 2nd tick my boy has had in 3 years & our coastal area is a well known black spot for them. It keeps mozzies & sandflies away as well. I check my 2 everyday though as no product is 100% safe. Have a great trip.

Goodness gracious, have you never seen two dogs having a really good rumble? It is the most blissfully joyful experience, and it puts a smile on my face every time. The creativity my dogs display when they play with each other is not replicated anywhere else in their lives, including when I'm shaping them! They learn all sorts of things in play, and there is nothing on this earth I can do with them that is more fun to them than wrestling with each other. Except maybe playing with the flirt pole for Erik. He's nuts about that thing. I wouldn't have it any other way. Seeing that pure joy, laughing when they do something unexpected or outrageously obnoxious to each other, being incredulous when they use a behaviour they learnt in training to evade a pursuer, and just enjoying watching them in full flight... Why WOULDN'T you want that?? It's my greatest joy in owning two dogs. I don't know what I'd ever do if I had dogs that didn't love to rumble. It would be boring. Yes, I would have to totally agree with you Corvus. The high light of each & everyday for me is to watch my dogs playing together Makes me smile with heart felt warmth. Very dull world if we can't have a little bit of play !!

So sorry for your loss JulesP. Such a terrible thing to happen & to be on your own would make it even more frightening. Their is only on "up" side to this aweful accident & that is your other furry kids are O.K. My thought are with you at this difficult time. RIP Brock, Forever young & free

Funny, I used to be dead against crates just cause I thought they looked like a jail, no other reason, Now I love them & so do my 2 furry kids. I think when used properly they are a god send. Puppy is safe & secure & I think they feel den like to them. They can also be used when travelling, e.t.c.

LOVED IT !!!! Funniest thing I have seen in ages. Very clever. My 2 love fruit too !

He is just a baby, in a strange place & all of his siblings are gone My boy cried all night, every night for the first 3 weeks Then he just stopped. New puppy, broken sleep for you, very usual. Crate goes into bedroom, in crate also goes fluffy toys/ kong with something yummy in it i.e. vegemite & plenty of comfy bedding, they just want to be near you, doesn't mean that pup has to remain there forever, gradually move crate towards b.room door, then over time as he settles in, move it out to where ever you want him to sleep. Good luck.
