  1. Amazing!!! That dog is trained to perfection. Loved how confident he was. What a credit he is to 77???? year old owner who is just phenomenal for his age.
  2. Oh awesome pic's Kirty ????????????
  3. I think both Hazy & Rebanne need bigger beds LOL Gorgeous ????
  4. Ozstar stunning photo's. Teekay & canetoad fabulous shots as well.
  5. Thanks hankdog. It all sounds so involved to me but I will work my way through all the red tape for that "peace of mind ". I'm not very computer savvy unfortunately. I did see another thread about this very topic so I will follow that with interest as well ☺
  6. Yeah well you can take the girl outta Gosford but you can't take the Gosford outta the girl  Ha ha ha ;) If you've got it !!! flaunt it!!!
  7. You probably already have but what about if you contacted the Border Collie club in Victoria Nekhbet? They usually have someone in charge of rehoming/ rescue I thought. Or perhaps Facebook BC page or the breed rescue page on DOL ??? I am really shocked that no one seems to want to take on a pure breed Border Collie they are sensational dogs. Im may be a tad bias ;) Maybe they are just too much work for some. I don't know... pretty sad actually.
  8. Yes HD, Jean Dodds. When I figure out all the paper work you apparently need to have/do. Might get my Vet to advice me on that side of things actually. Yes I'm hearing you Hankdog. I would love some results to come back with a fixable problem too actually. An answer as to why Stella is the way she is. Glad to hear Jake is playing bitey face again today. He must be feeling brighter ????
  9. Oh poor Jakey HD Is there a reason to add honey to his diet? It is very difficult to get the right balance of meds & just when you think you have it right, something else crops up. I feel like a drug dealer as well with Stella & I really dislike having to have her on any meds at all. She has to have her bloods done next in a couple of weeks actually. I'm also going to get some blood work done & sent to America to have her Thyroid levels checked as apparently if their Thyroid isn't working correctly it can cause seizures similar to Epilepsy. So out of interest I would like to make sure we are in fact treating the correct condition.
  10. Oohsam, I have the opposite problem to you. Too much FUN. Not enough serious training. Don't get me wrong my guys are very obliging & respectful but if you asked either to heel for an extended time they would look up at you with ...what the???? I think sometimes we can get so caught up on getting thing's right & mean well we go all out train, train, train. When the key factor is balance. As an owner we can sometimes be overwhelmed with enthusiasm & we see our end goal way too early. Try to rush things. Best to take a moment & enjoy puppy while they are young. Build a strong bond. By all means train a little, enjoy lots☺
  11. As others have said every dog is different. Just like us we all have different metabolism's. I have 2 BC'S & they are both desexed. There is no way I could feed them the same. My girl would eat till she exploded if I allowed her to. I feed her approx. half what my boy has. She is such a good doer. OH always says Stella could run on the smell of a good stew LOL. My boy on the other hand only has to look at food to gain weight. It is trial & error with diet. Firstly what diet works best for each dog. Then how much. Both of which can be alittle tricky to balance ☺
  12. I adore Greyhounds too. Always have. They are a very misunderstood breed I find. I have heard some pretty strange comments from uneducated folks. I do think alot also has to do with the fact that some have to be muzzled. Muzzles tend to freak some people out. Some random comments I have over heard just make me shake my head in disbelief. "Greys are predators & they will kill ALL small animals". "I wouldn't trust them around my kids" etc etc I will make a bee line to pat one (after asking the owner) whenever I am out anywhere. They always have such cruisey temps I find. Really lay back. And really funny... Stan is a real classic for instance. Not that I think there is another Stan LOL. We have 2 at our local beach. Jimmy a gorgeous big black fella & Blue a lovely blue slightly built boy. Jimmy is muzzled & my girl loves him as he is quite reserved so she can just give him kisses but Blue has a green collar. Both my BC'S love to chase Blue around & he loves to run & boy can he cover some ground. My guys haven't got a hope in hell of catching him but my god they have fun trying ????
  13. Thanks for posting Mystiqview. Will read when I get home as I have limited internet atm ☺
  14. Mjosa that's very interesting. I was wondering what would be the next step would be if this nasty infection returns. It has returned once. Hopefully this time we have nailed it. Thanks tassie ☺ nothing worse than an unwell dog.
  15. Quick update day 3 of anti biotics & Sonny is going great. All swelling in his jaw has gone. His appetite has returned to normal & he is 99% back to his old happy, bubbly game playing self. Mums wrapped :) so far so good...all paws crossed that the infection doesn't return.
  16. Hankdog may I ask why you have to take Jakey off Prozac? out of interest. I think I may have finally got Stellas meds right & they include a 20mg Prozac tablet daily. A Vet you can relate to & who also knows how to handle our reactive dogs is sometimes very hard to find. I have a wonderful Vet at home & have also been fortunate enough to find a another wonderful Vet at one of our favourite camping destinations. Had to take my boy the other day as he had a very bad infection in his Salivary gland so I took Stella along as well. All went fabulously well. Stella thought we were visiting long lost friends I think. She seemed fairly relaxed the whole visit. The lovely Vet engaged her & made her feel special. So pleased.
  17. Oh poor girl. She sounds like a great bitch in the right hands Nekhbet. Sorry I'm not in the position to be of help as my BC girl despises other female BC's with a passion... but I will keep my ear out. You never know. I so hope she finds a suitable loving home ASAP :)
  18. Grumpette I was so angry as both of these little dogs were only inches off my guys & kept charging up to their faces snapping & barking. Full on. I was like you & ready to give either one a swift kick but they were so cunning & kept ducking away. Sonny is the most placid boy but there is only some much I expect him to take before he spits it. He is not pretty when his buttons are pushed. I would of been the worst in the world had one of mine put either of these 2 in their place. Just because they are small seems to mean to some that the rules don't apply to them. As ALL dogs are meant to be leashed at all times in the caravan park. Not happy !!!
  19. Hankdog, we got bombarded by a couple of those same little turds you speak of. I was walking my guys back from the boat ramp to our caravan & these 2 little dogs came racing out from behind next doors van. They were so bloody aggressive. One went at the front & the other one at the back of Sonny & Stella, snapping & snarling . My 2 were so good & didn't even retaliate. All the while the owner did bugger all to stop them... gosh I was so angry. Why is it just cause they are small it just doesn't seem to matter. Errrrr.
  20. My boy was a bit of a bower bird when he was a puppy. He'd pick up lots of different things. I just taught the "leave it" command with a pocket full of treats. This worked for us☺
  21. I'm unsure if Sonny has a blockage in his Salivary gland but he does have an infection. My thought was there must be something causing the infection. Foreign body eg. grass seed or alike. Otherwise why would there be infection at all??? I don't know. How can I find out A. Blockage B. Foreign body ??? Hope it is neither He is a lot brighter this morning.Sparkle is back in his eye's. He had his second anti biotic. I gave him a small amount of Roo mince & some roast chicken which he enjoyed. The Vet did say that maybe he required a second course of anti biotics to clear the infection as it has reoccurred.
  22. Interesting Taliecat. Sour things. Must stimulate the taste buds etc. I can't get him to eat anything at the moment apart from cheese which is laced with his meds ;)
  23. Hi everyone, As title suggests my 6 year old BC boy Sonny has just been diagnosed with a Salivary gland infection. Poor boy We are away caravaning at the moment & I noticed some swelling on the left side of his face, just along his lower jaw bone. This along with him being off his food, reluctant to drink & lethargic. Off to the Vets ASAP. Was given anti biotics after a biopsy was taken to make sure it wasn't anything more sinister. PHEW !!! Funnily enough this same thing occurred about a month ago. Same symptoms. Took Sonny to Vet & was given anti biotics but I thought my guys may have had a head clash while playing with each other. Stella is pretty full on charging up to him. Now this problem has happened again there may be more to it first time around than I was thinking. I have never heard of this problem before so would really appreciate any experiences/information. TIA ☺
  24. Wonderful news... Such a shame he was stolen & treated so dam cruelly. What scumbags they'd be ???? Hope they rot in hell !!! You are one very fortunate fella to escape the clutches of thieves boy. You are right where you belong now... Home. Enjoy every minute. Bet your family are thrilled to bits ????
