My 2 are the laughing stock down the beach cause I put the blue zinc on Sonny's nose & the pink one on Miss Stella's on occasion just for a bit of fun Stella always licks hers off too dandybrush.

Didn't think of that point taken HollyE. Just thinking get the dog out before it is too late Very frustrating.

Poor pup, Hope he is saved soon. I would call the police I think. Seems like all other avenues have been used. Wonder how friendly he is? Shame if he 'got loose' one night & you just happened to find him ;) There is so much red tape BS with any organisation whether it be the RSPCA or whoever, mean while little mate is suffering BIG TIME Makes me sooooooo angry too!!

It has really got to me too SheWolf. 9 times out of 10 the puppy is always the one that suffers & ends up in the pound or worse. It just is so heart breaking. Good on you for your most generous offer. What marvelous work you two do.

I'm with you Dandybrush. I am flat out with my 2 & they are not hearing impaired. But sounds like Amacam is confident & coping well. Go girl. More power to you. If you think you can cope with 2

Very cool.

I use one on Sonny & Stella's nose as they at the beach lots & it is made by Doggles & I got it online at Waggle.com.au It is rather expensive though but works really well & is a thick liquid. I have also used toddler sunscreen as their breeder said that it was also fine to use with pleasing results.

I have heard good things regarding Canidae & not all of the varities are as high in protein as the Salmon one. I was just thinking the fish one would be good for their coats.
-
Canidae grain free Salmon dry food is 40% protein. Got a sample of it & my 2 loved it but I doubt I will go further with it than use it for training treats now.

So sorry the news was not all good . I don't have any experience with this sort of health issue but would just suggest to try & keep his immune levels up. Poor little bloke. Good luck with him -
Yeah I thought that might be how it works. I just did a quick look at some of my BC book's & they are all saying don't go mad with a high protein diet unless you want your dogs to
-
I am going to be of no help with an answer for you as I too have always wondered the very same thing. I was looking at mixing a grainfree salmon kibble through my Black Hawk just for a bit of variety occasionally but it is 40% protein which concerned me as I don't want my BC's bouncing off the walls so to speak cause they are up to their eyeballs with protein. Looking forward to reading your feedback.

I am usually very tolerant and willing to offer advice but just get so sick of new puppy owners who do no research on how to raise and toilet train a puppy BEFORE a getting one. If you don't know at least the basics of how to raise a puppy, don't get one. The OP has admitted she has never raised a puppy before but has these stupid and cruel ideas about how to do it and will not take the advice offered by many experienced dog owners on here. Anyone treating a puppy badly makes me very angry. This puppy would be far better off returned to the breeder who should also be rapped over the knuckles for selling a puppy into this situation in the first place. Totally agree dancinbcs, I understand we do not live in a perfect world but surely it would be pure common sense to research all you can BEFORE your new arrival especially if it is your first puppy. Making sure you have the "suitable" breed for you for a start. Upsets me no end because it is always the dear little pup that ends up suffering through no fault of it's own. And yes this breeder needs a wrap over the knuckles!!

Dear o dear, very sad. Partners in crime by the sounds of things. Escape artists. So glad you were there with the little fella & you did the best for him,got him to the vets. He just wasn't left to pass on his own, in terror & pain.RIP boy.

When The Time Comes How Do You Tell Your Child?
BC Crazy replied to casowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes, thats a very similar thing to what I told my niece & nephew when my old fellow passed & they still look up in the sky & argue who saw "Redman" the brightest star first. -
So glad you are asking the question Kitteh as I am pretty much in the same place as you ATM. So sorry I will not be of much help. Very funny start to your post by the way. Cracked me up. Stella is 9 months old almost & she is going really well most of the time but when she is excited I think her ears must be painted on She also jumps up, although she is a lot better with that problem than she was, she still does it on occasion. I rather she didn't do it at all. Looking forward to your feedback.

Agree with you on this. They can moderate there own pace as you say. I think that is my girl's favourite thing to do.
-
Agree with dancinbcs, persephone & Bailey's mum. Toilet outside, not inside & definitely not in the Crate !! Totally defeats the purpose of using the crate. Would you like to sleep in the toilet? Same thing for pup. Also sounds to me like your little one is spending far too much time in his crate. The more quality time you spend with your pup now, will pay off big time when he is older & the better relationship you will have with him. This is the time to bond with each other. Thats why littley's are called 'time wasters', I can't think of a better way to waste it. If you feel you can't cope, with the puppies best interests at heart, give him back to the breeder.

Most puppies scream & cry & most of them are hard work to a point in the beginning, like children. I never look at them as 'hard work' though cause I just love them & you do what you have to do in order for them to settle into a loving family life. I wouldn't of thought a SBT would be a suitable choice for an apartment. They need lots of exercise & from the ones I have been around they aren't exactly a great pick for a small space. I'm thinking "bull in a china shop" scenario. Crates are a safe haven for you puppy & he has to be trained to use it, not a thing where you lock him up all day while you are at work. Little ones need time to settle in & definitely don't leave pup on his own anywhere. Husband's office or such. What if something went wrong? Try & relax & you will probably find that your puppy will calm down too. Good luck with your newby.

Extra good vibes are on their way right now for Louis. he is very cute & a beautiful photo by the way. Everything crossed -
yep - and you could get hit by a car anytime you step out your door .. doesn't mean you should never step outside ;) pups NEED to learn how to interact with other dogs - need to learn the body language/social niceties - so when they DO come against an aggressive/unfriendly dog, they know what to do! Totally agree persephone They are pack animals after all.

When I introduced Sonny, 3 year old male to Stella, just 12 weeks old the first few days were interesting. I was worried I'd done the wrong thing Trying to do all the right things as you are, & Sonny is a puppy lover, he was patted first, feed first e.t.c he ignored her mostly, sometimes a little snappy at her, & generally looked 'put out'. After a few days I could see a change happening. Sonny was warming to her. He was disiplining her about 'house rules' & he was also trying to mount her, much to my surprise as he is desexed, but apparently I have found out that he was telling her "I am the boss here" nothing more. Ever since then they are the very best of friends & play together all the time. It is beautiful thing to see as they are both so happy with each other. He still tells her off though, putting her mouth in his & putting her onto the ground, growling. If she over steps her mark with him. But he doesn't hurt her. Hope I have been of some help. Can be a bit over welming at first. Best that you don't interfere though unless it is really getting serious. Good luck with your new arrival. It might just take some time. Sure things will be fine.

Dogs And Growing Grass With Success
BC Crazy replied to koalathebear's topic in General Dog Discussion
We have had Sir Walter Buffalo grass in one house we lived in & it handled 1 dog very well & didn't wear at all. So we are looking at getting that in Spring time. The mess our yard is in is unreal atm & it is making a lot of work trying to keep our deck outside clean & also our floors inside which I mop daily Boring!!! Would love to get artificial grass but it is very expensive over the area of yard we have, about $4000. still very tempting. -
Yes JulesP very good point & they so just keep going don't they? very resilient!
