Looking for recommendations for import of frozen semen from Germany. Happy to accept via private message, TIA.

Will get out the computer and try to upload some pics this evening. they are now three weeks old and coming on nicely, all added between 300 & 350 grams over the last week. The smallest just a touch under 1kg last evening.

Bedlington Terrier pups arrived at Wurroit 2nd November 2017, three blue girls to Ch Wurroit Blue Diamond and Ch Ausbed Puttin On The Ritz. Didn't put a notice in for October or November as due date on first mating was October 31. All growing well and being excellently cared for by Gemma, a first time mum. Pics later.

There are at least two sites in Australia that are doing the same thing. This allows dingos to remain on the land and reduces the numbers of fox, feral cats and dogs and rabbits. This results in more diverse native growth, more pasture for grazing, and reduced impact of agriculture on other native species. A positive move.

Sadly, baiting is an ongoing option for pastoralists trying to reduce the impact of fox, feral dog and dingo. There is a new product on the shelf which can already be used in NSW, Vic, and SA. This product in commonly known as PAPP, it is a quick acting product resulting in death in 45 - 90 minutes. Basically what is does is prevent the dogs haemoglobin from transporting oxygen resulting in asphyxiation. Late post but... Ther is no way I would not walk my pregnant bitches. You need to maintain muscle tone during pregnancy and, exercising the bitch will also help tone the uterus as she will naturally hold the abdomen up while walking. Hell, I have had seven week pregnant bitches chasing cockatoos and galahs off an open oval. That bitch in particular never had whelming problems. Regards,

Bedlington second on the list for Bedlington Bob, nothing else appealed. Would consider Kerry Blue, Irish, Airedale or perhaps even Lakeland terriers, (Lakies just on the list as I saw some absolute crackers at Perth Royal this year). Others I would consider would be the Pumi and Miniature Schnauzer or Schnauzer. Cheers,

Hi Meg, There is a difference between having a dog/bitch that is beautiful and loveable, and having a dog that is "correct" in regards to conformation. Understanding the difference is critical in determining what can be corrected through the judicious use of appropriate dogs/bitches in your breeding program. You are not going to get everything "right" in one quick go. Understanding what you have got and what the potential for improvement is will allow you to determine you way forward over the long term. I believe a long term plan is critical to your intentions. You also need to understand that in some cases you will make "advances", at other times you will be taking a "backward" step. Don't be discouraged by reversals, try to identify the why and try another process. Get out and talk to breeders. Look at what is being put up at shows and try to understand why. Remember also a number of dogs are put up (IMO) because they show "more" of a desired trait rather than being "correct" in regards to the standard, or, they are handled by known faces. Good Luck,

Hi Meg, I have a few concerns based on what you have posted so far but pleased to see that you have joined your state control. Since it is your intention to breed can I suggest that first and foremost you access the breed standard for Staffordshire Bull Terriers, note that I have not used English in the name. There are Staffordshire Bull Terriers and there are American Staffordshires. You then need to understand what the terms the standard uses to describe the breed actually mean. The standard will also tell you what colours are allowed as well as those that are not. I am also concerned that your breeder only breeds blues and was not interested in discussing genetics in regards to colour and problems associated with using dogs with dilute colour genes. I assume you have the pedigree certificate and that your bitch is on the main, may be used in conformation shows and for breeding. That you were of the understanding that blues can not be shown adds to my concerns regarding this dog and what you have been told. Best wishes,

I don't see it as a judges role to be "pleased" with a dog (of any type), that you would be hard-pressed to identify a "conformation" point on. Read the standard, understand the standard, compare the offered exhibits to the standard. The exhibit closest to the standard should be awarded first place. If none of the exhibits on offer are deserving of a Ch title, then the judge should non-award. Close enough isn't good enough, no matter where you are or how many choices you have! Regards,

Hi, We have been using "home" barf for well over 10 years now with no problems for either the adults or the pups. We are using crushed chicken egg shell, 1/2 teaspoon per day, which is very high level of calcium carbonate to assist the bitch through mild production and calcium maintenance. To prepare you can either allow the shells to air-dry or dry them out in the oven then mortar and pestle until you have quite a fine grind. We add to the morning meal. Cheers,

Missy's litter was six.... Two boys and four girls, Two blue pups, one girl and one boy. As mentioned the little girl never took a breath. The little boy at 130 grams never had the strength to make it either. Both at the bridge with our foundation pair and, just a week ago, the last of our first litter. He had just passed 15. Prenatal visit today, Vet confident he felt a few, guessing 4 - 5, Erica Guesstimating 5, Bob thinking as many as we gave had in previous large litters, seven. Bitch happy, healthy but not very comfortable at this late stage. Cheers,

I have purchased pups with and without deposits and I am happy to negotiate with the breeder in regards to requirements. I do not require deposits. I do however want to know about the situation the pup is going into. I do not and will not guarantee a pup to a buyer regardless of the number of pups and the number of interested parties. Not all pups are suitable for the intended environment and the environment has to be one I believe the pup will fit into and be happy. I am not sure about all jurisdictions but I must have signed agreements from the buyer before registering on the limit register. I am not happy about this requirement. I do not believe that a "neuter" contract can be enforced once a pup goes to it's forever home. I do recommend neutering once the pup is "mature". Cheers,
