Does This Amount Of Food Seem Ok?
Mason_Gibbs replied to Aztec Gold's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I would leave out the milk, soak the biscuits in water and would not add pasta, rice or breadcrumbs, its all grains which a lot of dogs are allergic to, if I had known this I would have saved myself a lot of trouble when my lab was a pup, I am getting a new pup in Sept and plan to keep him grain free from the start. -
Im sure it will be good boxagirl

I Have One Of My Pups Coming To Stay For 3 Weeks
Mason_Gibbs replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I had a friends dog here also for 3 weeks, he also has a dog door as he is little, no door here. We only had one number 2 inside as he did not wake us up at night for him to go and that was it -
Sorry RV never heard of it. Who is showing at the Gundog show? Mason has a chiro appointment at 12 that day but thought i could swing by first to the show

Hi there, yes i took my boy to pup school at club after his shot at 10 weeks and will be doing the same with new pup in sept what i like is there are 2 classes, 1 for dogs up to 12 weeks and another for older pups. Also if a dog is big it goes in the second class so it doesnt get to go off lead with smaller dogs. The 2 ladies who take the classes are very experienced and i would take their advice to heart as they know heaps. Because they both compete in obedience i would take their advice over vet run pup schools anyday

I had to take my pup to the loo 3 or 4 times a night until he was 6 months old, it was because he has food allergies and had an upset stomach. Hoping my new pup sleeps better than mason did.

i know its a little off topic but I know how you feel as I have a cat who HATES the vet, at home she is fine with strangers, will let anyone do anything to her but take her into a vet practice and she goes all feral and has to be knocked out. We managed her vaccinations last year while she was awake and she even let the vet look at her eyes ( she is starting to get cataracts as she is 14) I was so relieved!

I did not mean to imply that you personally were molly coddling your pup, but I have seen heaps of people do it time and time again at our club puppy classes and it actually makes the dogs nervous and they then feel like there is something to fear I too am not going to take my new pup to puppy classes until he has had his 12 week shot ( and then wait 7 days) as our club puppy school is in open grounds and we have heaps of parvo here in WA. I am going to just let mine socialise with friends dogs and people in non doggy areas until he has had his shot.

Im in Ellenbrook so not too far

I trained my dog so if i say leave he will leave the food he is eating or drop a bone if he is busy with a bone. I pat him while he eats if i want - he wags his tail like mad if i do i had a resource guarder ( had 2 pups at the same time ) the 1 did not like me or the other dog near her when she ate, i did not want my new dog to be that way and lucky mason is fine. He would not dare growl at me.

Just1more you need to socialise your dog from 8 weeks onwards wether they are in a fear period or not. I exposed my current dog to everything and i did not molly coddle him and he is the best socialised dog that i have had. I will be doing same with new pup

Take pup outside to toilet, i used a clicker and clicked and treated when pup went outside and toileted in the garden. Mine was toilet trained within 2 weeks. Very unusual for a lab puppy to be scared of another dog barking..

Great idea RSG i think that would be real helpful

I am in Ellenbrook so about 20 mins from Joondalup, i have the best vet here near me ( i have allergy issues with my dog so tried heaps of vets). Send me a message if u would like details. I attend northern suburbs dog club, finished all the pet and trial classes with Mason but will be starting again with the pup after his 12 week shot, our club has their own puppy school. -
Question, when you guys brought puppy home for the first time and wanted to crate train did any of you do the crate games with them that day??

Maybe we can go into business together ;)

I had no idea that the canteen was finishing up, it was handy to go up there for snacks if it was open when we had obedience trials
-
I would feed the fish variety as my dog is allergic to heaps but that one would suit him
-
That is a bit of a bummer!! Why no catering??
