  1. For me teaching my dog to hold something in his mouth on cue was really hard for me. He loved to retrieve but would drop balls, sticks etc halfway back to me. So i had to go back and start at the beginning. I gave him a rolled up pair of socks ( which he has always fancied) and then had a huge party when he had it in his mouth and i said good hold gave him a jackpot. Then i started holding dummy and click treated when he had it in his mouth. He is now heaps better.
  2. PM Ptolomy, she had to have 1 of her dogs on a low protein diet for a liver issue
  3. I think its about a month or so after they are mated they can be scanned/xrayed

  10. I get asked, " is he a labrador", I say yes they say ' but he is so skinny" - he is not skinny he is just not fat!!
  11. Yup I would ask them to put their dog in kennels if the 2 dont get along
  12. You free on Sunday? Nope going to see my puppy
  13. Now i would say for a flatcoat you must be able to deal with heaps and heaps of energy and they are working dogs. Im friends with a breeder here and know her 3 dogs who have way more energy then any lab i know.
  14. Yup i took a goldie in as his family coukdnt keep him ( ok he had issues and was a bit aggressive and dominant) but he was very different to my lab
  15. Here is my lab, he is from show lines but his father has a retrieving title. Bubitty i think labs and goldens have quite different traits
  16. Great pics - I have been sooo lazy with my camera lately.
  17. I agree 100%. Quite simply my dog cannot eat any foods made here in oz, waiting for a bag of Canidae grain free Salmon to arrive and hoping he tolerates it. I feed mainly raw but he does not thrive on it whereas with a bit of kibble he looks heaps better.
  18. Let me know when you go do it RS and if we are free we will also join you. It is warming up though so better do it soon.
