Thoughts Please - How Worried Should I Be?
Mason_Gibbs replied to parrotpea's topic in General Dog Discussion
Same here my pup broke baby canine at 11 weeks, he was in a lot of pain though he was screaming and face started swelling in the way to the emergency vet -
I only joined in jan this year so no idea when my renewal is...

Mason_Gibbs replied to Atanquin's topic in General Dog Discussion

Does anyone know of a canine nutritionist who will give me a structured home prepared diet for my dog? He seems to be able to eat kibble for no more than 2 months and then gets the runs ( he is a known allergy dog) we think its the dust mites that set him off. I fed him home prepared before but you could see his diet was lacking, he looks heaps better with some kibble added in. I see Monica Segal does consults online but its almost $300

Good luck, it certainly sounds as if you are willing to give different things a go as others have said try the clicker again

Cavvies Purchased From Registered Breeder-
Mason_Gibbs replied to Jodi's topic in General Dog Discussion
I totally agree with this. Although it would be ideal if breeders could take their dogs back or help rehome, sometimes it isn't possible and I believe it is fully the current owners responsibility to rehome the dog, no matter what the reason. agree with you Aussielover -
I have 2 lovely vets ( actually 3 if you count the derm) 1 i go to for injuries, 1 for everything else and 1 for allergies. I took Mason to 3 vets before the 1 im happy with they were all stuffing around with his allergies snd no one would give me a referral to a derm which i needed for my insurance

Very cute

For me its worth it. 1 claim for a broken tooth ( emergency consult, xray under GA, antibiotics etc ) and my premium is paid for the year. As for the allergy dog i wont even go there.......

I paid $41 last year for my lab and now pay $45, friend is paying the same for her chi

I do the opposite - I'm not a fan of luring unless it is the only way to get the dog to do something - dogs don't think with the lure. I hold the treat away from me (arm extended). The dog looks at the treat. Eventually, they'll be thinking "WTF?" and look at you. The second they look, I click and treat (not the treat being held out, treat with my other hand, food in pocket). After a few times most dogs will focus on you, away from the treat. The dog has learnt to focus on you to get what it wants. To the OP - I'd end the session waaay before my dog got bored, leave them wanting more. I think 10 mins is a long training session! I've done 30 second stints before. I'd add a "we're working" queue and "we're finished!" queue too and move out of the area when we are having a break. Make it super easy for your dog to know when they're training or when they're allowed to goof off. I do my eye contact the same way.
-
Iv never lured eye contact in fact i make it hard and hold food not anywhere near my face like in my hand etc snd when they look at my face i click treat. I also make sure Gibbs is sitting in heel position on my left, i found it hard to transfer everything from in front if me to the left with Mason.

If your dog is titled in retrieving you are ineligible to compete in RAT. (Even QND title). Not right.... as far as I know any dogs titled in retrieving can still compete in these events. Not many do though. I thought the same...
