We haven't been dong much training the last 2 weeks busy busy in retail ATM.

Yup smaller canals are worse as they trap in more moisture. Ear issues are a systemic problem though i find with Mason. If his allergies are under control his ears seem fine
-
And try get Malacetic ear cleaner, remind me to give you a sample when I see you next, I can always just keep putting some in a small container each time I see you, I buy it in bulk lol
-
No, i have been given Mometamax before which is a cortisone and antibiotic i believe. Mason is allergic to it hopefully i will never need it for Gibbs but i do clean his ears once a week already
-
Use ear wash every week it really helps Mason hasn't had an ear infection in 18 months since got told to do that
-
I have a degree in psych so im sure i will manage

The thyroid needs to be tested , my black dog went red down his back, sent bloods off to qld and results all normal... Full blood panels also normal i think ge just bleaches easily as in winter he is darker. He is also on a bunch of oils as he is an allergy dog -

I have had most of 3 years at the beginning of the alphabet :p It is rare for ACD to be in the ring and it has only been in the last year that a younger male has competed :D ETA: It is actually often easier being first as you are there when the judge and steward discuss how the dogs are to enter the ring. Later on in the night they can sometimes expect you to know and don't tell you It will probably be on one of the public holiday days between Christmas and NY Yup I could still be rostered on, most likely they will only use the juniors tho as I'm too expensive on public hols....

You are welcome to have a go showing a Lappy ;) We like getting them used to different handlers Banjo is a Mummy's boy so won't show for anyone else Judges aren't too scary And particularly with young pups most of them have a conversation with the dog - they ignore the handler except for asking age usually and telling you want to do though I need to organise a session with E before NYE to run through how to show Taavi - you are welcome to bring Gibbs along too and I can give you a "how to show a dog" lesson and then you can make more of an informed decision I am sure Taavi would like to play with Gibbs again too. That would be good if I'm not working...

Its really more the judges i am a bit scared off i have no clue what im doing
-
Basically I said its not anything to do with Gibbs why I won't show it's all to do with me it's a tough crowd and I'm not thick skinned enough to do it
-
So are most pups. But don't you have to train him to pay attention to you for obedience anyway? Showing is a good way to get them used to performing in public without the pressure of always having to be good If a baby or even minor mucks around noone really cares - well the occasional judge but most overlook it If you don't want to show then you don't have to. But don't blame it on the dog ;) The plans you have for him when he is older requires a much more disciplined dog than showing does We actually like it when Anikka does a few baby jumps in the ring when she is meant to be gaiting as it proves she isn't a robot and that she is having fun ;) Sounds like everyone had a good weekend Emery, you have to wonder why size is so important! The number of dogs who are overheight for their breed but still win big against equally good but in height dogs is amazing :p Flip my whole reply got wiped when I pressed the wrong button!!! Can't be bothered retyping

Lok Gibbs would be a terror in the show ring he is a busy body...

I am such a baby I am too chicken to show my boy....

When you add a second do to the mix it does change things a lot, my lab loves his new baby brother but his personality has changed, he is more reserved around us, often sulks as the pup is more in our faces than he is. I do make time to just spend with the first dog alone but it's not the same, things do change
