Yikes if you feel like that then your poor dog probably does as well. YOu need to have a lesson with somebody - will definitely help with the motivation and the movement forward. Alternatively, see if you can catch up with somebody to train with one night each week. Best if it is somebody who knows more than you do. I know how poor Mason must feel, I think that I am asking him to do things incorrectly and then getting frustrated when he does not 'get' the exercise or what I am asking him. Going to class does not seem to help as they do stuff that I know how to do already. I am trying to get him to play tug and do back end awareness and I am getting a great big fail on both things. I want to compete but I feel that I dont have the skills and the know how to teach and motivate my dog, maybe I am not cut out to compete.

Does anyone who trains anything ever hit a patch where you feel so unmotivated to train and dont have any enthusiasm for it anymore? I am in a rut, I know we have so much to work on but i have no motivation to fix any of it as the task seems daunting...

My dog has allergies, he does everything that you describe. My boy has food allergies and atopic dermatitis ( another type of allergies) with food he cant have chicken, beef or wheat - he is also allergic to insect bites, grass - weed - tree pollens , storage mites and dust mites. He was tested for atopic dermatitis through blood tests and intradermal testing by a dermatologist - my old vet kept on trying to treat him herself and would not refer us to a derm, I then changed vets and got a referal as I needed one for my insurance, I am with Petplan and they have paid for everything, even the blood tests which were sent to USA. I was also advised by our derm not to vaccinate, I did titre tests and the results came back that he is sufficiently covered.

I saw on Houndstooth Facebook page that they are going to be having a day clinic on learning to photograph pets next year, I am going to be going to that for sure I want a 55-250mm lens for my camera and maybe a polarizing filter. My bag should arrive any day as I ordered it online last week.

Cool may see you guys there then Not sure what class I'll be in - whichever one caters for the 'not really sure how old he is and very poorly socialised, screwed up rescue dog' It will probably be orientation then Crazy Cresties - I wont be there this sunday as we have rental inspection on monday but I will be there the following sunday at Carine, although I wont be in the Northern Suburbs classes as the instructor from the seminar i went to a few weeks ago needs to see how we are all doing and we are meeting there.

Brilliant! Looks like you had a great time I'll go for a round 10 Hope all goes well for her Shimi is just adorable, good luck sleeping over the next week Tiggy Took Louis off to his Reactive Rover class yesterday where he did very well. It's nice to see him relaxed and comfortable around other dogs there. I think I'm going to take him along to the Northern Suburbs classes on Sundays as well, as he needs more regular exposure to other dogs in a controlled environment - which I'm hoping obedience training will be We go to Northern Suburbs - may see you there, we are in the later classes though.

Naww Millie, why were you looking away!! :D Love the one with Rosie next to them, too, you can tell she really wants to be a Lab when she grows up Trixie in her hat Yes, Lab heads fit hats nicely I have loads of them with their hats on, I will put the originals on a disk for the next time I see you - there are loads more on FB.

Shorts weather here, too! I was up just before 6am for a retrieving training date and it was a tad chilly, had jeans and jacket on. Went to our BBQ afterwards and had to change into shorter pants, got a bit too warm! I'd like to get a Beagle one day, but that day will probably come at retirement Candice got some lovely shots of the dogs today with party hats on, hope she can post a few for us! A group of nearby picnicers were awwing when the 3 Labs were in a line getting their photo taken Just busy re-sizing them, will upload to FB and then put a couple on here.......

I feel that for the last 2 - the lens is probably not correct, I only have a 18-55mm. The first one is very noisy and I think the lightening was wrong... I would love to hear others comments though.

Here are a few that I was not happy with....

Welcome to the real world of photography You'll have times like that - it's OK and normal. If you're up for it, have a look through and determine WHAT it is that you don't like and then concentrate on fixing that the next time you pick up your camera. If you're up for it, but can't quite determine what the problem is, post some and I'm sure you'll get a lot of help! If you're not up for it, just shrug it off and have some more fun with your camera next time! I think the light where we were was totally wrong and the shadows just made the pics look awful. Plus the pics I tired to take of the dogs when they were playing did not come out clear because it was the wrong distance for my lens. I will post some pics up today when I get some time to upload them to Photobucket. I just did not like them at all!!
-
I took about 100 photo's yesterday at the park but I can honestly say that I do not like a single one of them - I am very disappointed.
-
Kenobi and Shimi are so cute!! But no pups for me for awhile, need to get Mason trained up first!!
-
Awesome pics!! Did he have a black background? I love the effect of the black dog on a black background
-
Yes after I saw the pic on the PC i was very disappointed that I had not wiped his eyes as I dont actually even have photoshop yet, as soon as I get a copy I will have to remove it.
-
He looks at me when I get the camera out as if to say' oh mum not again!!" we are meeting with 2 of his brothers from the same litter today so if I get any good shots I will post them up.
-
No not at all, just didn't see you as someone wanting to handle a Lab! ;) Yeah, well, my dogs are reject show dogs atm so may as well change Groups And friend asked if I could show his dog ;) Might go for a play with the Lab puppy before the show though if it is entered... I might not be any good at handling it (And Lab puppy is "it" as I have no idea if I what sex puppy I may be given ) When will you be showing the pup and where? LOVE lab pups!!
-
Here is a pic that I took this week with my new camera, I am quite happy with it although I am sure It could be better, still getting the hang of the DSLR!
-
i'll be there on the 30th When are the labs on??

I may come but unless there is water I will be dogless so not really helping Pretty sure there is river but I'll wait for RS to confirm Yip - if its where Rubystar and I walked past a few weeks ago then the dogs can swim in the river. I will ask Jen on facebook if she wants to come, dont think she has seen the thread.
