  1. Great! Let us know which one works out better for you .
  2. Sounds like I need to take a trip to this A&D petfoods They are great they have chicken, beef, lamb, roo and horse mince and occasionally I can get goat from them too. Then they do the chicken, beef, lamb or roo cooked liver meatballs, no preservatives they just have liver and veggies - perfect for training. They also do assorted bones and dried treat and their prices are very very good Must admit I have never tried the horse myself but they do sell it there. The roo steak that I used to buy to make treats out of was from Woolies for human consumption - when we first went to the vet for allergies they told us to use that for treats.
  3. [if you do a search on the forum someone posted a recipe for an organic weed killer, it has vingegar, salt and dish wash liquid in it - it works too as I have mixed some up and used it!!

  5. Keep us updated Mercedes, poor thing. I have never heard of beef being given for an upset tummy. I have heard chicken and rice or turkey and sweet potato.
  6. lol Kitchen smelling delightful now Dogs sniffing around so looking good :D Aw little Shimi, you'll have new tugs soon I used to cook roo steak and roo mince to make treats out of until I found A & D Petfoods, my hubby threatened to kick me out if I cooked roo in the house again lol Now I just buy the roo or lamb liver cooked meatballs with veg for treats - they are great plus they do a range of dried treats, I got 3 little bags of dried goat today too.
  7. If I am available that will be no problem, I have excellent camera skills (as in I can turn it on and keep the dog in the frame) Also do you know what time you will be there? And do you object to having a huge crate in your gazebo? I now have a huge crate too Valley, my old one was too small for Mason so I bought one thats 2 sizes bigger and its huge, its our 3 man tent if ever we go camping
  8. I am not sure it is something you would have to ask and be comfortable with. I put cable ties on the crate for my pup so noone could get her out they could give her water by pouring it in if neccessary i didn't want to risk her getting out and running away or anything. i removed the ties myself when she arrived. I took towels and water incase she had messed so i could bath her first but she hadn't messed. Get you breeder not to feed her on the day of the flight to limit the risk of her defecating in crate and put a frozen bottle of water in so as it melts she can lick the droplets off of the bottle and wont get dehydrated. This way as well you may not need to get her out and you can get your breeder to cable tie the crate and you remove at your end that way you know she is safe. Also dogtainers and jetpets are pretty good but check the stop over time to the second flight and try and get as small a stop over as possible When I decided to bring my cats from south africa I was so worried about the flights to Perth, they were in their containers for almost 24hrs and were only given water, they made it here fine no hassles. My cats are old too which is why i stressed a bit about it but it was good, I am sure your little pup will arrive safe and sound
  9. I am so bad, I have done another Clean Run order, 2 different babble balls and a song bird - may keep them for his xmas gifts..
  10. I buy roo or lamb cooked liver treats from A & D Petfoods in Midvale, i cut them up for treats.
  11. My ridgeback x's that I had growing up at home were bitches from the same litter, they had had one or 2 not so serious fights where the one just punctured the other but the last fight was almost to the death, the one who started the fight ( she was the dominant one) had her jugular vein nicked and lost heaps of blood, it was the scariest thing I have ever seen AND she was trying to carry in fighting, had to get the other bitch off her by holding a hose pipe over her nose as she would not let go. From that day the other bitch was alpha bitch, this was 5 years ago now and they have never fought again, I think because Gabby knew that Vicky was stronger than her and also they have gotten really old. I wont run 2 bitches together again after that fight...
  12. Lol we have our resident bobtail who comes to visit in our yard, he is quite tame though as he has not hissed at us or the dog/cats. He comes inside if the slide door is open and I have to walk behind him with my broom to get him to go out again
  13. I might have to set that same challenge with my Banjo , I did enter him in the WC this year but scratched him because we weren't ready and we still haven't trialled . Dont think we will be ready by Feb,maybe June if I am lucky :D I dont want to rush things and then mess up
  14. Poor Wandy. Banjo sends Kelpie Kisses I am actually happy that when I picked Varda up again today we got pain meds! We didn't get any yesterday :p I have set Banjo and I the challenge of being ready for CCD by the Western Classic So we have 4 months to get it all together and I am sure we will need every minute of that time I wanted to enter but dont think we will be ready just then...
  15. She's the little one in front She is very cute :D she has less skin folds on her face than the 2 at the back... :D
  16. I used to think that an emergency credit card was better but when you think of the big bills it was worth it for us. It only takes one incident like with Kaffy Magee's Chase, a freak occurrence and you're up for thousands. sure you can pay by credit card but that still costs you more than insurance. It only takes my dog to be let out of the yard by accident and get hit by a car and that could be thousands too. You hear about someones dog costing them thousands fairly regularly on here, i'm paying about $380 per year in insurance for my boy and i'm sure i'll get half of that back on treatments through the year. Last year alone cost me about $1000 without insurance on fairly minor things. I've got a fast active dog so i'm not concerned about the routine costs, just the big things where he turned the wrong way and did his hip in or twisted a limb. A big dog equals bigger costs in antibiotics and other meds. Pet Insurance has been so worth it for us - my dog has allergies and I had to save up the $3000 to get him tested, immunotherapy and ear issues - overall this year I have spent $5000 on him, now if i had saved it up and had no insurance I would be $4900 out of pocket but because I have insurance I was able to put my money into my credit card. I am with Petplan and they have been very good, paid for everything and lifted a exclusion on conjunctivitis and other eye disorders that we had for 12 months.
  17. Yes - Oatmeal shampoo is a no go here too - makes the itching way way worse. I would also go straight to a derm - same thing here, spent heaps trying diff things and none of it worked besides what the derm suggested.
  18. I think thats a super collar Valley - I always want Mas to wear purple but OH wont let me If we do start a problem solving night I will come down maybe once a fortnight and get some ideas and tips
  19. I would go to your vet and explain the problem and see what they say, they will probably recommend doing an elimination diet and seeing a dermatologist. I use Revolution and then Comfortis between doses as my dog has a flea allergy, I have never seen a flea on him but we do it just as a preventative as he is allergic to insect bites. ETA - I am on the standard dog plan, you pay $100 per condition per policy year - I think there is a months wait to claim or something like that... cant remember the details.
  20. The only time my CR parcel wasn't opened was for Banjo's cool coat, the quarantine dogs must have thought that smelt boring . My first CR order was a harness and a book... it was still opened by quarantine :D I got my CR order today too (opened by quarantine ;) ) but haven't opened it myself yet :p It takes me just under an hour to get to Canine. The issue for me is more that it takes me 1.5 hours to get home from work first and then I have horses to feed so if I want to get to training on time I need to leave work soon after 2pm (note to OzJen if you read this - I won't be there tonight have stuff to do at work that has to be finished today plus need to pick Varda up from vet - will ring later) Needless to say I feel demotivated by that effort regularly However contact Bedazzled Am really enjoying my lessons with her We work on lots of little things and if I don't understand she spells it out really slowly :p Plus I get homework so have to be motivated in between lessons. Saying that I have only had 2 lessons so far and can't have another one for a couple more weeks due to work Know how you feel, when I had horses to feed and i worked to 5pm I would go straight to my horse ( lucky he was 10 mins from work) I would ride and groom him and wait for him to cool down so I could feed him as grooms left at 4pm for the day. ( previous stables I had to do everything because there was no groom but it got too much with work and then I had to travel a bit for my job so it never worked out at those stables).
  21. I know you guys all do your own thing and I don't want to bother people which is why I dont come down as I need a lot of help, I think I rather pay someone for their time so that they know what they are getting into
  22. Mas all I can say is I was like you and was all urgh it's so far! And now I do it at least 2 times a week (and I think it will be 4 times this week)! It is the single most motivating thing for me! I am stupid with watching people I dont pick things up - I need to be shown step by step - I'm a bit blond, even when I am shown step by step I sometimes still dont get it!!
  23. Yeah I do use the frisbee as a reward with him as he loves fetching it and bringing it back - after all he is a retriever. Some days he will tug and other days he wont, its a bit of a pain really to work out because some days he is all for it and other days he couldnt be bothered!!! RS I cant even get Mason to put his feet on anything to do the rear end awareness, I taught him to do it on my Wii balance board and I sold it with my Wii, now he wont do it on anything else!!
  24. I hate it when I lose motivation . I think for me it comes from comparing myself to what others are doing/have achieved with their dogs and feeling like I'll never get there and lately I've just had too much of a puppy brain to think about much else ;) . I just take a break for a week or so then I feel super motivated to get back into it and sometimes I'll just work on fun shaping exercises etc so we're still training but I'm not putting any pressure on myself I guess. I know I could never go back to obedience classes, I shudder at the thought, so if obedience is something I want to do I'll drive to K9 on Mondays but my focus is agility at the moment(RS is probably thinking heard this before ) and when I start putting pressure on myself I think hey this is a fun hobby I do with my dogs, at the end of the day I just want to enjoy the time spent with my dog . Sorry for the ramble . Yeah I get what you are saying, at the moment Mason is more eager to go and fetch his frisbee than do any obedience or shaping so I guess I will leave it for awhile, 3rd time this year that we have taken a break - what scares me is that one day I think I may just be on a permanent break I think it would be easier if I went for lessons - just need to find someone who teaches who is not miles away from me.
