  1. I got my lab last year and after seeing Rubystar, Bedazzled and Ptolomy's dogs compete in obedience I decided that I would like to give it a go. My boy is 18 months old now and we have not entered a trial yet as he is not ready but I am hoping he will be sometime next year.
  2. I have had 2 diff versions of the Malacetic, the one has a peach smell and the one I get from my derm only smells like vinegar.
  3. It was real good, and after seeing Strauss do a little bit of work I am now in love with him, he is so smart and cute!
  4. I went to bed at 8pm, I got him, had something to eat and then got a migraine, thought i was dying. Have not had a bad headache like that in maybe 3 years or so...
  5. Thanks Erny, thats exactly what his looks like, will give the plaster a go.. I was wondering if a trip to the vet was needed or not but I may give his a go first.
  6. I use fly repellent daily and he is mostly inside.
  7. I dont think she is coming Katie. I am just bringing one dog too!! Don't you only have one or is there something you need to tell us Lol, I have one dog and 2 cats, but I take my ghost dog to seminars and stuff and he is the one i use to demonstrate how much work we have been doing lol !!
  8. I use ear wash 2x a week in my boys ears, he gets them due to allergies but it seems to help - Malasetic Ear Solution, basically boric acid and acetic acid.
  9. I have noticed for the last few days that my dogs ear seems to be split. The day before yesterday there was a scab there, yesterday the scab was gone and it just looked like pink skin and today its been bleeding again. What causes this and what should I do about it?? I thought head shaking was a cause but he has not been shaking his head that I have seen.
  10. It gives level of cover and underneath it gives a definition of what each level means, there are some levels that recommend retesting sooner or vaccinating but our levels came back to only re-check a year later.
  11. My dog was due for his 1 year booster vacs, my dermatologist said to titre, it came back that he is covered and so I did not vaccinate this year. If they are covered they are covered, thats my opinion.
  12. I dont think she is coming Katie. I am just bringing one dog too!!
  13. Love it when he does that crazy run up the side :p
  14. What happened to the xmas dinner plans guys?.............
  15. Some dogs have allergies so bad that they need Prednisolone for short periods of time and sometimes permanently, my dogs life is sometimes a misery because of his allergies and without using some form of cortisone he would have probably been in a lot more discomfort to the point where I would rather put him to sleep then see him suffer like that. Agree, my dog suffered terribly with his allergy and I think it's a bit ignorant to think that all allergies can be managed effectively in a short time frame without steroids. My boy pretty much itched 24 hours a day even with "management" including Aloveen baths, keeping him off grass, antihistamines, etc. He didn't sleep at night, he had an Elizabethan collar on for weeks straight, he had weeping hotspots. Sorry, but cortisone was a lifesaver for us so that he could actually act like a somewhat normal dog for a little while. I don't think some people understand that in some dogs the allergies are hell and in others the allergies are minor - there's always people here who thing that what worked for their dog should work for others and just because they've been able to keep their dog off Cortisone others should be able to - mind you I've read some very sad stories on threads like this from owners who refuse to use Cortisone whilst their dog suffers. I'd rather my dog have a shorter happy life span than a horrible misserable one. Although there are many dogs that have been on Cortisone all their lives and lived normal life spans, one just hopes that you can find the most minimal dose to keep the dog on that isn't immune suppressant. We are lucky, 2.5mg works for my dog daily, anymore and he is incontinent and sleeps 24/7.
  16. Well regular training is also on tomorrow so there is a real good chance...
  17. Its at Carine Open Space, not sure if thats the Monyash Reserve?? I come down Beach Rd and go past Warwick so if you come out the station and wait on the other side of beach road I can pick you up for sure. I will be coming past there at around 09h45 I think.. ETA I am going to try find mu umbrella today Katie because I dont want to sit in the sun like last time - I actually felt sick the rest of the day after the last seminar and my one leg was burnt lol. Hope I can find it.
  18. Emery that is wrong!!! I would take matters further - not sure how you would go about this though...
  19. I will watch the clip at home Yeah Tobylarone is the only dog I have ever owned that gets excited by a vet visit, and the only dog who the vets all know on first name basis. :D When i call up they are like what's your surname and then I say it and they go... "OH Toby!!! What's he done now?" Lol I know how you feel, Mason is also ALWAYS at the vet, silly puppy!. Ptolomy its funny the things dog come up with isnt it? I think for RE awareness - when I was having the issue of Mason only wanting to sit with his paws on the step/book etc this is why i had the issue....., I had taught him to sit in the hula hoop a few weeks before, so he was thinking hmmm sit in hoop get treat, she must want me to sit with my paws on the book lol.....
  20. Have you been doing your homework ;) I havent done a lot of the heeling part but I have done the feet on something for backend awareness
  21. Those Staffords just have no shame do they - Letting it all hang out! Mason STILL sleeps like that, he is on my bed like that as I am typing this lol!!!
  22. Your poor parents must have been so worried
  23. I just realized that we lost Mason's skineez toy somewhere so I need to order another, his was from Dstore but i see Clean Run has them too.
  24. Aussielover I dont think she is fat at all, she is also still a pup so I would not feed her too little either. I fed my pup at that age about 1,5 cups of food a day, maybe a bit less if he was getting a bone that day or chicken necks etc. Lamb bones are very fatty, if I can only get lamb Mason only gets a bone every 3rd day as he tends to pick up weight very quickly. I now feed manly roo/lamb or goat cubes - about 200g a day with some veggies, I also give him eggs and sardines once a week.
