  1. I use Zyrtec anti histamines, half a prednisolone tablet a day and Elecon cream for my allergy dog. With the huge pollen levels we are having at the moment in Perth it seems that the Prednisolone ( cortisone) is the only thing giving him any relief. He is also on immunotherapy. If the dog is really itchy I would take her to the vet/derm and let them help you with meds etc.
  2. Yeah I'd put it in the stupid category with Daisy :D She'd been sniffing Indy all day since she came back from the vet, and I saw her approaching her and had the camera nearby - wasn't sure what she was up to, but certainly didn't think she had humping in mind She used to hump my cockers head - daft boy would just lie there and take it wih a resigned look on his face Mason sometimes humps other dogs , drives me insane and I have to tell him off when he does it.
  3. I want to take both the girls to agility class but there is only one me, so I can't imagine what I'd do if I had a puppy as well! Why can't I just be content with couch potato pets? I could get what I wanted sooner! But no, I have to do something with them don't I! My next dog I will be teaching obedience from the get go I think. Thinking of taking Mason back to agility next year when it cools down a tad, he was such an equipment hog at the asssistance dog fun day, everyone got to have a go on the agility equipment and I could hardly hold him in the lead when he saw the equipment, he got so excited
  4. Another lab? awww they are growing so quickly, so gorgeous Oh NO Congratulations lol, I'm with Ptolomy one this one but big congratulations for you ;) Indy decided to play with a bee this morning :D I doubt she'll learn anything from the experience - she wasn't blessed with much brain Awww poor Indy - my old dog was stung in the eye by a bee, my cats have been lucky although my small siamese x was bitten by a snake awhile back - she did not even get sick, it could not have been very poisonous, she did land up with a swollen face and 2 swollen front paws though which looked so
  5. Oh NO Congratulations hehehehe i think we'll stop at three terrors lol but i am just adding to the next generation of dog enthusiasts Congrats!!! Skin kids, not sure I can handle them!!! I think every now and then you get some people who are just not cut our for skin kids and I am just one of them :D My mother finds it hard to understand this but she has my nephew so she is lucky
  6. I order from the Pet Chef and he leaves the frozen stuff at my front door in one of those polystyrene boxes from the supermarket. I still have to thaw everything a little so I can freeze it in smaller bags. So they provide the polystyrene box do they? I might do an order then. I can always ask my Dad to pop around my place during the day and stick it in the freezer or in my garage out of the sun Nope, I get the polystyree boxes from the supermarket for free and leave it at the front door. Pet Chef man comes along and fills it up. I have one of those boxes if anyone needs one, got mine when I did Lite N Easy.
  7. Just heard about a litter of pups being born soon and I want one so BAD!!! Now just to twist my hubbys arm a bit - I know they will be awesome dogs.
  8. Tracking is great fun and plenty of exercise. RS if you do it, I'm happy to practice with you,we can lay tracks for each other. I'll have two dogs doing it next year hopefully, we can car pool if you want to. This year we hardly got any rain and although a few mornings were cold, you soon warmed up. You do get use to the early mornings to ;) . Tiggy, there was some talk of having a special puppy group next year too. Here is the beautiful pine forrest we train in, hopefully it hasn't all been knocked down by next year and one of Jenna tracking. Earlier this month there was a large fire going through there but I think it was just fire burn off for later this summer. My partner and I are getting our new German Shepherd Dog puppy in a couple of weeks and I was thinking a little later we'd take it to do some track with trackwest.....it'll be easier for us since the pine forrest is only about a 5 minute drive for us. Yes the fire was just burn off - however they did cut a large portion of the forrest down but its not the side where they practice the tracking.
  9. I need to stock up from them but am bummed they aren't open on weekends Getting delivered won't work for me cos I don't have eskies and besides, I don't think an esky of meat this time of year would hold out all day. I want to get back to feeding raw, but it's hard to stock up when you work all week! You could go to A & D on a saturday - I am sure they are open, I am going today, will ask. Thanks ;) How do I order from them, though? Can I place an order in advance so I know that my trip out there won't be for nothing? And is there anywhere I can see what they sell and how much? If you're able to grab some sort of "menu" and pricelist for me today while you're out there, that would be GRRREEEAT! And please ask them if I can fax an order through? Ta Hi there, They dont have a pricelist etc. You can do an order over the phone though. They do bones by the bag or roo bones per bone, all different meat cubes, such as roo, beef, chicken, lamb etc and they do cooked meatballs for treats, chicken, beef and lamb at the moment. They also have chicken necks. Mince is $3.30 a Kg, Meatballs are the same and I have no idea how much the chicken necks are. Roo bones are around $1 or $1.50 each but they are HUGE!!!

  11. These days they say just about everything causes cancer.... my old dog has cancer and she was never microchipped. I believe its all genetic and certain things trigger it. My dog is chipped, I would rather take the chance and chip him, after all he may get cancer even if he wasnt chipped.
  12. It was great fun, my dog is sooo NOT a tracking dog though lol Edited to add that has anyone else found out that A & D Pet Foods has now changed ownership?? Yep I went in last week and they had changed the counter around and they looked at me like this when I asked about turkey necks. Boooo! They tried to sell me chicken necks but they are just too small, hopefully I'll find somewhere else that stocks them. They seem to have the same brand of mince which Sooty likes so hopefully that doesn't change...or prices! I think Pet Chef have turkey necks, and they deliver ...
  13. Thanks, might take you up on that Especially since I may not complete a season I don't quit things I'm dedicated to. But things I haven't committed to and am not overly dedicated to, I reserve the right to quit at a moment's notice I won't know what category tracking will fall into at this stage, but I do suspect I won't be overly committed to it I'm only going because a friend is starting her young dog next year after her other dog got T Ch this year. So if I start fresh with someone who knows what they're doing while they are starting their next dog on it, it just makes sense. That and she pressured me into it I can bring it with on saturday if you like? It may be a bit big for your dogs but you can try it and see.
  14. I have a harness I can lend you to use for the season, if you keep going then buy one. I dont have the lead though, I just used a long lead that I already had. When is the open day? I enjoyed the little bit that we did do but it got to me that i was at tracking on a saturday morning until 12 and then sunday morning is obedience at club. I never had time on the weekends to do anything else and that just did not fit in with my lifestyle. Plus most of the time is spent laying tracks for others and then your dog is out the car for maybe 15 mins in 3 hours... It is also really hard to practice unless you have someone to lay tracks for you.

  16. Mason is a I'm feeling like a loser right now So I come home and start cooking some sausages for dog treats and think I will have one for lunch in a roll with some onions and sauce. I'm just about to sit down on the sofa with lunch on a plate, and Paddy piddles. So I put the plate down next to the sofa, grab a towel and mop up, and I turn around to see Paddy on the sofa with my sausage in a roll in his mouth, wolfing it down I go to make another one, and this time I get to sit down and take a bite, only to find the sausages taste 'off' and the bread roll isn't fresh anyway! I can't get it out of my mouth quick enough So Dougal got that one. I ended up with a tomato sandwich :D I hate cooking stuff and then finding out its off or does not taste right, you wonder why you bothered in the first place!!!
  17. Went to the assistance dogs day today, Mason won a voucher from Houndstooth Studio for the best loose lead happy walking competition ( not really fair since I just asked him to heel) and we get a studio shoot and free print Golden Rules i just looked in my goodie bag and I am actually quite impressed with the little Esky/training bag with pockets for poop bags etc?? Its really nice actually and not too small, my big water bottle fits in well.
  18. Well that was a waste of time asking here. I have never boarded my dogs before so I can't help. Most of the DOLers live south of the river and we even have a few DOLers south of the river that own boarding kennels. I am going away at easter and have the boys booked into a place in Southern River. Sorry. I also dont board my dog - if he cant go then we dont go...
  19. Come and post in the lab thread, loads of owners and breeders in there.
  20. Cool coats have been on there for like 2 months + now...
  21. I got Mason a 28" Adele, its long on his back but just fits in the front as the front does not adjust I got my friend to then sew a pleat in it so it fits him and isnt too long I wont be at class this week but I will be there next week if you would like to try it??
  22. I would get allergy tests done on you and your son, if it turns out you are allergic you could have immunotherapy. I know a good couple of people who have done this and lived successfully with dogs/cats and horses.
  23. I use Cetrigen too, works really well on hot spots...
  24. I dont know why they do it, but having worked in the financial sector businesses hardly ever do anything that puts them out of pocket - thats just my opinion though.
  25. I know its dishonest but I would put the rat outside on the pavement and call the neighbour and tell them you found it there. I would not take a chance that they would be cross and then do something to my dog when I am not there. You never know how people will react and I would put my animals first.
