  1. Poor Trixie!!! why oh, why do people do that????? At least she calmed down enough to have some liver treats - Zola wont have treats just being at the vet, let alone anything else traumatic happening whilst shes there!! Silly girl! Glad all went well the the AG, I think Im gonna have to learn how to empty Zolas, too far to the vet just for that!! I dont know how they (well It really, only the left hand side that doesnt empty) fill so quick!! :D ;) Welcome Josie & Pudding!! Great name, one of many nicknames I use for our Kelpie!! Shes a gorgeous looking Beagle!! Well they all are arent they!! Labrat it must be a ridgy thing as my 2 stressed out something silly at the vets - Mason will take a treat anywhere anytime from anyone! He is a real piggy!!
  2. Glad trixie is ok:) sometimes the docs can hear my murmur and sometimes they cant. All just depends.
  3. The rain hit as I was walking from the train to the office I only got a little bit wet. Good thing I had the sense to put my hair up today, I hate having my hair down when it rains! As for the heat last night, the dogs were sprawled out on the tiles in the laundry all night, they didn't want their beds My hair fizzes in the rain like you wont believe!! Any humidity sets it off!! Heard today that iinet are only hooking us up on the 18th,.... my internet cap is finished so I am using the net only a tiny bit or going on on my phone which has a data cap of 2.5 gig so I have plenty on there
  4. Emery I saw you at the beach, before I could come and say hi I looked again and you had gone! Sorry mason2009. i saw you as well and mason. my hubby has spent hte day before in hospital due to severe sun burn. as it started to heat up it was really burning through his clothes so we had to go. kelari didn't want to she figured out she could swim and was having a blast got rain and thunder here woopwoop No worries, I had also gotten burnt the day before so we did not stay that long either! I think Mason had a swim with your bunch though, hubby was saying look at Mason swimming with those huge dogs - hope he is ok he is such a worry wart with that dog!!
  5. Been pouring down all day here!! I have never felt humidity in Perth like this CC. BTW still undecided about sunday morning, its such a long way and it starts at 9am...
  6. Emery I saw you at the beach, before I could come and say hi I looked again and you had gone!
  7. Poor Trixie, hope she is OK, sending her hugs and healing thoughts. Don't stress too much about the heart murmer, I'm sure given her energy levels its not worring her much and as you know Gizmo manages fine with heart issues. Let us know how the vet visit goes later today. I myself have a beart mumur and i am fine, i just dont get as fit as regular folk - battle to catch my breath if i run etc.
  8. Would have loved to do this but my internet cap is finished and only getting more in 2 weeks. This is the last time we will run out tho as we getting adsl with a huge cap as soon as they can hook us up!!
  9. Not really because he had his own pool before and still got hotspots. They all came out after his last immunotherapy jab ( like a day and a half later) the dermatologist feels it could be a reaction to the shot - they are all on his neck as well so it very well could be. Hmmm, all on the neck around the injection does sound suspect for being a reaction to the immuno But something else to consider: his "pool" was most likely a clam shell or similar, yes? So no chemicals / salt... that could make a difference. Chlorine is quite harsh on the skin and salt, whilst it can be good, might be abrasive on an open wound... so even if it's not causing it, it may contribute? Hope they clear up soon! I thought if that but funny enough that are where he is not getting wet?? Its a real weird situation, I have gotten them to dry up and they are shrinking so I am happy
  10. How long did you "try homoeopathy"? And was it classical homoeopathy? What was exactly done? Tried a couple of homeopaths in Perth, tried changing kibbles for his diet, adding oils ( which we still do) and he was on quite a few remedies but my dog has sever allergies, really really bad and even a vet I know who is all for homeopathy said to me that with bad allergies homeopathic meds dont usually work for dogs with severe allergies.
  11. I highly recommend my vet Dr Barry Odesnik at Vital Vet Ellenbrook, I would use him no matter where I live in Perth!
  12. Someone also mentioned to use Bicab of Soda and I have used it this week and the spots have cleared up real well.
  13. i agree with this, looks like flea allergy to me
  14. Tried the Morley Vets and Inglewood and I would not take my dog to either, started using Beford Dianella but after they refused to refer me to specialists when needed I stopped going there too. I HIGHLY recommend Dr Barry Odesnik here in Ellenbrook, a good couple people on the forum use him and we all are very happy, the practice is Vital Vet, he has another lady working there on a monday though, the number is 6296 771
  15. No I am not going to go back, I am going to concentrate fully on my obedience this year.
  16. Yay, I am so glad you are getting your new camera, I know how badly you wanted it. Once it arrives we will have to have a photo meet up and take lots of pics!!
  17. Would you say the arrival of the hotspots has coincided with the arrival of the pool maybe? Not really because he had his own pool before and still got hotspots. They all came out after his last immunotherapy jab ( like a day and a half later) the dermatologist feels it could be a reaction to the shot - they are all on his neck as well so it very well could be.
  18. Very true. I have realised Ruby has lost her "mojo" for heeling, so I am going to have to try ever so hard to pretend she knows nothing and retrain from scratch and make it more fun. I am getting nowhere just "making do" with what I have. Fingers crossed this plan will work, and even more so that I stick to it. This is just for heelwork, though, I will continue training other stuff as she enjoys the other stuff, it's just that darned heelwork What postgrad speciality are you looking at doing? Yeah I am teaching Toby heelwork and I really have no idea what I am doing... so I will probably have to re-do it all in a few months Just watched this video! I love this lab http://www.akc.org/events/obedience/nation.../2010/video.cfm (click on finals) I am torn for what to do postgrad! At the moment I am looking at Speech Pathology, Genetic Counselling or Embryology (IVF). I would go for the Embryology, its in huge demand! I know how you feel with teaching heeling, i found that it was the hardest thing to teach, Mason just did not get it at first!! I am no expert but I can show you what worked for me if you like.
  19. Go on I know you are getting Classy! ;) :p Nope. She is going to a great performance home in SA. The woman already has a red merle Aussie and does flyball with her dogs, and she is now a FB friend so I can keep up to date with how little Classy matures Oh and her name is now Scarlett Which is one of the many maybes I had on my own puppy name list Thats a shame I just did a video of me and Toby doing some obedience work and I feel like ;) a little! I just realised that I have been only rewarding him on the left for fronts so he is coming in on my left. I also realised doing obedience in the bushy paddock in thongs is probably a stupid idea ... and there are ants up there so Toby wouldn't down and was all sneezy. ;) ETA- but I realised that the old gate posts make perfect figure of 8 posts!!! DOnt despair valley, all those little mistakes are part and parcel of teaching obedience, I teach things and then go back and have to reteach them sometimes when I realize my mistakes, I think its normal for training your first dog.
  20. Double post - sorry guys, was on my phone as laptop a bit dodgy still
  21. Mason will be 2 in just over 3 months! Time flies!!!
  22. my dog is eating a diet of raw meat, ( roo, goat and lamb) he is allergic to beef, chicken , wheat, soy, rice - etc. He also gets sweet potato, pumpkin or butternut, pear, banana. This is all he can eat, anything else causes a reaction. I am almost 100% certain that the hotspots he has have nothing to do with food at present, he has eaten this diet for awhile now and has not had as many hotspots as he does now which makes me think it has to do with the very hot, humid weather we have been having. Tried homeopathy - did nothing for my dog.
