Can A Male Dog Wear Purple Collars?
Mason_Gibbs replied to Bubitty's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think a pretty collar can enhance a dog's look. For instance Bitty looks lovely in various shades of pink. It just goes very well with her fur. Mine don't wear collars at home either but I think its nice to go for a walk in different collars cuz it gets dull seeing them in the same one all the time. Plus some people just like pretty trinkets! Collars give me another thing to shop for. Its harmless and fun! It is fun and there is nothing wrong with wanting your dog to look nice imo! -
Can A Male Dog Wear Purple Collars?

I am a bit of a collar addict, we got a nice spotted one the other day and a black leather bling collar to compete in -
Wowsers RnR hope she is ok. I suppose when i go i got three to five rottis i get avoided like the plague rofl. Mind you have had a few close encounters with zeus why the hell do they take on the biggest thankfully zeus is such a mummies boy he will stand his ground but come to me immediately and i can then keep the other dog at bay. i always go right up to the horse part of the beach though as to avoid people. With any luck she can go back to the beach minus dogs and find the person responsible. I reccomend she make a report anyway might get the ranger down to ensure rules are being follwed. My biggest gripe at the dog beach is it states dogs must be on lead to you hit the beach and those that let them out of car or to run from beach to car etc. gets mine all excited etc or they run through the kids grrrrr cc glad daisy is looking up how scary. my girl is now a woman as of today she is growing up Yes I also have an issue with people letting their dogs run through the carpark, its so dangerous, they could easily get run over!!

Wow, i will maybe skip our beach walk tomorrow, thanks for the heads up.

Yes another male lab, a yellow one this time -
Morning , I have a question, I got a notice from Western Power 10 days or so again saying that they are planning a power outage in our area for today to do some maintenance, then in the middle of the notice there is a block and it says time and what address it will affect, which is not my address, first time I have gotten one of these so I am wondering if my power will in fact be going off? Why did they send it out to all the houses when only one address is affected?

I am going thefe early sat morning for a walk so i better extra vigilant!

Aww poor thing, i go all the time and have never seen a fight though. What type of dog was it so i know to be on the lookout?

CC so sorry to hear about Daisy, it does sound like she is on the mend though :D I never forget one year I was in charge of a raffle and people had donated all sorts of things for a hamper. In any event my one ridgie snuck into my bedroom and helped herself to about 2 big slabs of chocolate out the hamper, nothing else was missing. I know she has a sweet tooth as she counter surfed and ate cream mixed with caramel for a dessert topping Lucky for Vicky she weighed 55Kgs as she is 3/4 ridgeback 1/4 bullmastiff but she got the big mastiff body and so the choc did not even make her ill. All the wrappers came out in her poop, no idea how she did not get a blockage!

I am a fan of free shaping, but if you're having trouble why not forget the front feet being involved at this stage. If you get a largish piece of carpet or bubblewrap and place it very close behind your dog. You stand in front with a shortened lead and put slight pressure on him to take a step backwards...he should be close enough to put his rear foot on the carpet..click when he does. Just do this a few times then wait and see if he offers movement with his rear legs. He'll soon know he has two attached if you're rewarding his stepping onto the carpet. Gradually move the carpet a little further away from him til he's walking backwards to try and touch it. Once he's worked that out, then try your phonebook again and see if he offers movement with his rear legs. Thanks Caffy I might give that a go, he does move his back legs when he is on the phone book but its very minimal and not quite what I am looking for if you know what I mean? I think he is confused.

LOL - I said that about Strauss and come to think about it, Scoota before him. I have actually changed my opinion of Moo - but I really have to say, my girls generally pick things up much faster. Maybe its a boy thing I wonder if its harder for bigger dogs to pick up rear end awareness? I will just keep persevering, not going to give up, I know he will get it - hey it may be in the next lifetime though ...

Hey good job Tiggy and where did all this motivation come from Banjo did a great job heeling - what sort of food were you using - the cheese would have been good)? Strauss was better on the outside cirlces than the inside ones (and still is and it looks like Banjo is the same). Start Bear on catching food now away from heeling. I have just had a look at your rear end awareness videos The one of Bear was how Strauss started too and it didn't take him long to catch on at all - its funny because at this stage they are oblivious to the phone book even being there - just more intent on getting the chunks of cheese. The one of Banjo on his stiff side. Try standing opposite him and asking him to line up or get in or whatever your command is for him to find heel position and you stand still - he might find this easier. Hmm actually you will have to break this down a bit, you stand with him in heel and take a step to your right and ask him to line up. Once he can do this, then you take 2 steps etc until you are opposite him and he can scoot around. I am trying to concentrate on our rear end awareness, so far Mason thinks he only has front legs I am also using the phone book and carrying on from what Gina showed us in the seminar but oh my its slow going.... this one is not so bright with rear end stuff!!

Cool I will wait until I see you again as I am in no rush, thought it may just be fun to start teaching him to hold the dumbell, I think he has pretty much the same size mouth as your girls though.

OUCH - poor Rosie!!!!

So I would go for a large? Mason is a lot bigger than the tollers

I have put my name down for a pup which will be born middle of the year if all goes well - I am quite excited !! -
Australians speak English and all migrants have to pass an IELTS ( English written and spoken exam) to comply with visa requirements. Therefore technically everybody living here should speak English so why should obedience be judged in many other languages? It just does not make sense to me...

I was wondering how do I know which size dumbell to buy to train the retrieve with? I see they come in small, medium large and extra large. Now small is out for sure but how do I know which size to buy for a large dog?
-
Yip, Mason and more often than not the cat Socks gets us up before we ready - and Socks is such a pest once he decides its time for us to get up and open the back door for him so he can go and play in the garden

Apparently some insurers consider anything they paid out on in the previous year an "existing condition" and will no longer cover it after you renew So if your dog does something on say day 360 of the policy that requires follow up treatment you better hope that you can get it cleared up in those remaining 5 days! I have too many animals to bother with insurance though as I would be paying more than I would claim Well Petplan is not like that, they even lifted the clause Mason had on his eyes because he had a few problems as a pup and I can now claim for them once my vet gives them a vet history for the year if I had not claimed in the last 12 months.
-
Let us know how she gets on and dare I ask do you have HBF no HBF just my credit card Pet insurance wouldn't have covered it anyway because she did the left cruciate already and legs come in pairs If you had her covered from a pup though they would have to cover it then though right?? I am so glad I got Mason insured before I knew he had allergies or else I would have been in big trouble.... New pup will be covered before he comes home.

Sorry to hear that Tiggy

Paw cuts bleed A LOT!! My ridgeback cut her foot once and there was blood everywhere, and she was a big sissy she limped as if her life was coming to an end! I did not crate train Mason as a pup, and I'm a bit sorry I didn't. When i first started using his crate he hated it! I think he is a bit claustraphobic though as in the big one I bought off GR's he is as quiet as a mouse and I actually think he likes it! And best of all there is enough room for new addition to fit in there too!
