  1. Nope, just tell the people u can only attend the ceremony. ETA if it was close friends I would skip the trial and attend but if it was not such close friends then I would do the trial. Also have you RSVP-ed yet and now need to change your RSVP? If you have not RSVP-ed yet then that would be ok, however if you have it may seem a bit rude to now change it.
  2. I think it comes down to the dogs as individuals, i know people with 2 of each sex and most have never had a problem
  3. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! Which setter was it? ;) I will be at training Monday but dogless and up the top in the building Why what you going to do?? Oh RS did you get my number armband doodad thingie on friday?
  4. My ridgie x's went straight for the throat in a fight, they say littermates are the worst together and will fight to the death
  5. Not sure I agree with that! I have heard the same, all breeders I have spoken to have said 2 males desexed are better than 2 desexed females but I guess it also depends on the individual dogs, Mason would never ever fight back I dont think but I would not like him to even have to think about it if possible.
  6. Mason is desexed and the new one will be too at around 12 months, I want him to finish growing first. I had 2 bitches and it was a disaster, I have heard 2 males are better but not having had 2 males together before as Mason is my first male dog I cant really speak from experience
  7. I am getting excited now about getting another pup, cant wait until the bitch is pregnant and then the pups are born Someone actually said to me today that I should get a girl to lessen my chances of fights... dont know how keen I am for a girl though
  8. Well done Rubystar and Bedazzled Great work from you guys 2 weeks until our first trial
  9. I wanted to come down to watch tonight, there is a doberman from our class doing ccd tonight, i feel asleep this arvo and only woke up just b4 6 so i did not go down Good luck those competing You should have been entered My girls did good. I entered them both in Open class, Not For Competition to take a bit of the pressure off. Both did well, but Millie, what a good girl she is :D :D Good girl Zola I did not think Mason would be ready ;) I still have not actually received my membership card from K9, I got a membership number emailed to me and a magazine posted but no card so far ETA - for the Classic will the obedience be at the top or bottom oval?

  11. They mainly do it with horses as they worry about bowed tendons, loads of horses have had problems because people dont bandage with a layer of cotton first, and maybe even 2 or 3 layers depending on how thick the cotton is.
  12. Poor Daisy, the vets should have put a layer of cotton wool between her leg and the bandage, they do it with horses for the very reason that if it swells there is room for expansion. Hope Daisy is ok - hugs
  13. Ptolomy how did the show go? I got phoned for my first shift yesterday to work on Friday 4 March, which is our trial day at Classic, i told them to switch me to another day as I would not make it down to Southern RIver in time after my shift My new manager probably thinks I am crazy as I told him its because I am competing in dog sports
  14. I am also not staying too long, just doing my round and thats it. Good luck for interview!
  15. I am going for sure and so are a few people from my club
  16. Ralleyvalley I think i must take you with to choose my next puppy I got lucky, I chose Mas as he loved retrieving and bringing things to me and to this day he still loves retrieving. He is also very submissive, the breeder did something to him and then said to me this one will be submissive and he is. I had a very dominant dog before and I would not want one again - interestingly she would never ever lick a human or another dog and I believe this is a sign of very dominant behaviour. My next pup I will make sure likes to lick!!
  17. I ordered Mason some deer antler bone yesterday, he cannot wait for them to arrive, he sampled Rubys and Millie's on the weekend and he loved it!!
  18. Nope, the Boxer in the last issue was Charlie, owned by Vickie (or Clemevi on here) Emery I'm thinking of comming down tomorrow night to do some training with Rumour and show the Wheaten.. I'll have to come over to see how big Chandras gotten!! Bondi just got back from her 2nd bowen session- she had thrown her lower end out (probably doing zoomies on the floorboards) which had put her muscles into spasm, which explains the incontinence (which only lasted one day thankgod, and she seems fine now) Her upper body and muscles around the spine were still all good and hadn't reverted to how it was before her first treatment which is goood Glad to hear Bondi is on the mend, will we be seeing you wed night at the show N go??
  19. Awesome! What's this holiday for? Family or by yourself? Whereabouts are you going? I'm trying to live through you as I can't see me having another overseas trip in a long, long time!! It's because I can't go to Crufts because it conflicts with uni ( ) but I need to go overseas while I am uncommited here I am going with a friend. We are going to Los Angeles, Las Vegas , Arkansas, Baltimore, Washington D.C and then New York Arkansas is to break up the flight from east to west and to sneak in a dog show Sneak in San Fran.... it's GOOOOOOOORGEOUS!!!!! :D I've only done LA and San Fran myself, would so love to do Las Vegas and NYC, and I'd also love to go to Canada (and Ireland..... Irish accents mmmm!!) Bummer about Crufts I have only been on one overseas holiday and that was to come to australia in 1996 with my parents, so I have only seen africa and australia I am very boring!! I am thinking of maybe going with my friend to NZ next year when she goes to see her family

  21. I have 2 cats and a labrador and I have been accepted for all 3 rental properties we applied for, at the latest one the dog is not supposed to be inside.
  22. I always do the head turn but the lady I train with said she got marked down for doing a head turn before the actual turn so now I am a bit worried about this? I dont think he is too far forward I think maybe I was doing my turns inconsistently ( ie not always with the same foot) so now I always move my left foot first for the LAT and the right one for the RAT. What i did today ( suggested by S last night) is put my phone book down, heel up to it and do the LAT while he is on the phone book to teach him that he must swing around with the back feet. She also suggested teaching it in slow pace which i never did to start with so I may have confused him. Everything else is going well and hopefully the show n go goes well on Wed
  23. I would like some tips on training left about turns, my dog can do them but they are not the neatest, would like some ideas on how everyone else trains there dog to do them neatly. I know hind end awareness is Important and we do some exercises for this but the prob is my dog wont relate those exercises to when we are doing LAT's. Also in a trial if you are asked to halt, stand, drop your dog, each time you begin heeling again can you give the heel command or is your dog expected to just follow along?
  24. Interesting.. Miley has started getting ear issues and I have been feeding her the same kibble. I think I'll either go back to the California stuff or find a grain free one. I'll also feed her more raw chicken necks and roo meat and less kibble to see if that helps. Its amazing what changing the diet can do, mine eats only raw meat and bones plus veg, cheese, eggs etc ( no grains ) and he has not had ear issues since! I also use Malacetic ear wash instead of Epi otic etc and uts made a huge difference
