No bathing???

Yeah I think i will give breakfast and his dinner can be his jackpot tomorrow and next friday I wont get to work him the day before the trial anyways as I am working from early to quite late and I wont have the energy!!
-
I have not attempted to add back any kibble, so far my dog cannot have chicken, beef, turkey, rice, pasta ( wheat) and it looks like the BBQ pork sausages I used as treats because I could not get any roo meatballs may be making him react too now!! I guess you could take the ingredient list and buy the stuff you can find and test it? When you are adding the meats etc back into the diet how many days do you do it for? i was told to do it for around 7/8 days by my derm and then stop feeding if we get excess itching or his tummy gets upset.

I would crate him inside, if you are breaking the rules for one dog what does it matter if both are inside? IE your landlord is not going to say hey you are not supposed to have dogs inside but you only let the one in so thats ok.... I allow mine inside even though he is not supposed to be, I just clean up properly and wash carpets before inspection, easy as. Never had an issue.

I had a real hard time teaching Mason to heel as he did not look at me at all, someone from my club suggested holding something he liked at my hip and when he looked at me he got clicked and treated - it was not long before he realized walking next to mum looking at her = food and now even when I am trying to walk him around the neighbourhood he often does long stretches of heeling ( on his own i have not asked him for it at all) because he wants treats. In the last few months our heeling has gotten heaps better but I only do short little bits at a time - I train for a max of 5 mins unless I go to class and I find my dog does tune out there but I go to listen anyway more than to do any training.

For those who do obedience trials, say for eg you are doing a night trial, would you do any work with that dog in the morning? Would you feed it breakfast etc? Just interested to hear what other people do....
-
Lol Ptlolomy I had a good chuckle at this, its all too true though!!! Whenever I fight with my husband I remind him that when we get divorced Mason is coming with me!!!! then OH acts all sorry and stops being a pain as he loves Mason too much to ever think about him leaving

If it was my dog I would ditch the dry biscuits and only do raw - but thats just me..... ETA the reason I would do this is my dog loses weight on raw, he gets mainly pumpkin/veg and with roo, goat or lamb - most is roo as I am battling to get anything else atm. He also gets sardines, cheese, egg etc etc but for him this diet keeps him lean

Gremlins .......... double post

Im calling her stella, she is a hound tri with only a small bit of black near her tail, mostly from swedish lines, she came from a breeder in Mudgee, im hoping she grows to a nice size about 3kg would be good. she is only about 1.1/1.2kg at the moment. She is very naughty but im happy that she is outgoing enough and not too intimidated by bigger dogs etc. She should have a playdate with my friends chi, would be the perfect size.

He is cute etc but i have only ever had big dogs so its hard to imagine how u would train heelwork etc?? But anyway he is just their pet and they love him loads- he gets away with tons tho. When he stays here for 2 weeks his life will change, poor thing

I may have one that will fit, was going to chuck it, it was Kyzer's from when he was a puppy. Thanks Amy, I will be at K9 on Wed if you will be there?? Yep I should be, how big is he roughly? They weighed him on sunday he weighs like 3Kg, he is crossed with something we are not sure what. Size wise about the size of a drowned rat lol!

Not Bowen Therapist but you can't go past Deb Nook - she is (I think) $70 initially and $50 after and excellent value for money Yeah I really do need to take Mason to her probably sometime. Where is she based again? Deb's in Shelley She did Toby's titre testing too! She's the best (as I am sure Ptolomy can attest to as well) Might take him in when I am working and have spare cash

I will be getting an 8 week old lab pup later in the year, purely for the reason that I want to compete in obedience with him and would like to train him from scratch. I love my husbands cat more than anything and have only known him for nearly 4,5 years now, I also had a rescue horse who was my heart horse from when he was +-12 had him for 13 years and I still cant get another horse or even go riding because no horse matches up to him so I think you can bond with older animals too.
-
Nope. I forgot. So I got it on Saturday night instead Thanks I will grab it from you on Wed night if you are going...
-
I remember the heat too - Ruby was on an awesome score, then proceeded to blow her Q by laying down in the sit stay <-- I literally did that, and probably a bit too loudly so the other competitors heard I am hoping that Mason does not lay down!!!

2 weeks will fly by! Yay that Daisy is on the mend!!

Pretty much. Walk up to the window in the building on the lower oval, get your number and catalogue, and that is it for you! (Lucky you, it's a pain getting the girls vetted even though they're both sterilised!) Walk Mason around to toilet, then put him back in his crate to rest. You don't want him worn out before he goes into the ring! I will probably go early and let him have a look around, if i dont he will be too distracted and unsettled. Will be down on wed night for the show n go. Good idea, I forget you don't train there Bring his cool coat - if it's anything like last year's WC I was wearing thongs til just about due in the ring it was so bloomin' hot!! Yes I remember how hot it was I will bring his coat, he can wear it until he goes in the ring. Hope its not a stinker

Hi, I need some trialling info from people that trial in obedience. I am doing my first trial on 4 March, what do I do when I get there? AT club trials we walk up to the table, get our number, our name is ticked on a list and bitches get vetted. Is it basically the same for a real trial?

Apples are really low in Calories and are a great snack for people. I would not give it to my dog though many people do, I prefer pear and banana. Dry fish treats are great for not putting on weight, my allergy dogs gets these as a treat. I also sometimes use roo mince and make my own training meatballs and cooking them in the oven.
