  1. So who is dong the show n go tonight? More people from my club wanted to come down but most have agility on tonight so wont be there.
  2. Great pics guys, U have not gotten around to participating lately as I have just been too busy, also my hard drive is full of pics and I dont have money to get a new one just yet
  3. If you suspect Mindy has allergies I would use pear instead of apples ;) there is a whole thing about foods cross reacting ie if you dog is allergic to birch?? I think it is then apples will cause that same raction. Pear, banana and paw paw are apparently safe fruits to use Edited for spelling
  4. I was just wondering if anyone with allergy dogs has tried these and if there dogs got any sort of reaction to them itch wise?? I got one for Mason and so far so good, no increase in itching etc and he really loves it!!
  5. My dogs have brilliant eye contact and their stays are very good, I am not sure why getting good eye contact should interefere with stays???? Honestly I have been soooo happy I gave myself a headache with the jumping around and yippeeing and having a happy high voice - I seriously had to take Nurophen, and on more than one occasion! However I had a very happy dog that was willing to keep going after we stopped training. It is a lot easier to take the bounce out than put it back in! Given the correct motivation and praise she can work MUCH happier than she does now! My dog loves staring at me in stays but then he stares at me all day at home anyway .... I look at him during stays but I know loads of people dont look at their dogs. Mumtoshelley the best advice I can give you is find someone more advanced than you to train with if possible, I know it can be difficult. Training your first dog in obedience is actually really difficult and somethings are best explained and demonstrated one on one. I only got some iimprovement when I asked for extra help at club and then trained with more knowledgeable people.
  6. The devastation is just horrific, the scenes on the TV are so sad, I cry when i see some of it.
  7. yeah maybe, i had planned to do a bit of show training at K9 on thursdays. what nights do you get down there? Thanks. Yes the plan is to show. I had been expecting a boy from somewhere else actually but that fell through and then this litter came up and i preferred one of the pups that just happened to be a bitch so i decided i should take her. I dont go down to K9 often as I live real far
  8. Its actually been the hottest it has ever been in Perth at night lately, are you sure he is not shivering from something else like fear etc or maybe he is not well?
  9. I dont give pigs ears as my dog eats them in 5 minutes and I think its a bit of a waste, I have gotten him a deer antler bone and he LOVES it!!
  10. I am no training expert but what I do is if the exercise is done wrong I use the NRM and then repeat the exercise and he usually then puts in a better effort.
  11. All good. It is a touchy subject and I agree. I can't confirm my Pointer wouldn't damage my OH's couch if he were ever to be left alone in the house and not in his crate. But he never would be. I never leave mine inside unattended, I did as a pup when we lived somewhere else as I was scared he would be stolen
  12. You (along with many others who continue to be dishonest & deceitful to their landlords) are why their are so few pet friendly rentals... I don't see how one well behaved dog would be anywhere near as destructive as a toddler or even the way some slob people live. As long as Mas's landlord is happy with the house I don't see how it's any issue to you. It's an issue because if the landlord wanted pets in THEIR rental property then they would have said so when advertising! Regardless of whether or not the landlord is happy with the house, they certainly aren't aware that their lease agreement is being broken. It annoys the sh*t out of me because it's no different to those people who insist on sneaking their pets into their motel room etc. It's deceitful...if you want to have your pet inside then find a rental that allows you to do so (honestly) or buy your own home. If i had the money to buy my own home I would obviously have done so and if my dog was causing damage naturally i would not let him inside. And my cats are allowed so technically animals are allowed inside anyway. Buit it's not for you to decide that because your dog isn't doing damage he's allowed inside, that's a permission that only your landlord can give. If your cats are allowed inside and you believe that techincally, 'animals' are allowed inside then why bother posting that the dog isn't allowed inside? Aziah you are obviously one of those people who likes to argue just for arguments sake and that is my one pet hate.
  13. I suppose anything is possible but as our house is always the neatest and cleanest on their books I highly doubt we would be asked to leave, plus the rentals around this neighbourhood have been standing open for 4months + now as they battle to find tenants out this way as we are so far from everything....

ETA this has gone way off topic now, but thought I would ad that they were aware we had pets when we applied for the house, we signed the lease and only afterwards on the day we were supposed to move in got given a info sheet that said no dog inside, so tell me now if you think that is fair???
  15. Weren't you happy with my answer on facebook? I never saw it, is it on your page or mine?
  16. Did you read the ingredient list for the sausages? Most will have fillers in them - they use a binder called "Rusk" that is often wheat, rice or soy ETA: Additive Alert is a great book to get, as you can check on the numbers used for additives etc. on ingredient lists and check what they are made of Thanks Zayder - I had not idea what the sausages had in that made him itch but now I can see why he cant have them, rice and wheat is a no no for him, I have not tried soy as yet on its own Hate having a dog with food allergies it makes getting treats very difficult The absolute best thing to make habit is to pick anything up and read the ingredient list first! Everyone thinks I'm mad these days because I can't pick up a single thing without looking at ingreedients or get something without asking the person behind the counter "what's in it?!" Saves a lot of drama though!! The other thing you will often get with processed meat products, besides fillers or thickeners (which can also include maize for those corn allergic) is that they will bulk them with random other meats to use up the left overs, so that's another good way to sneak an allergen in if you aren't aware! That absolute easiest thing I find for safe treats is to buy cheap cuts (whatever is on sale) of the meats they are safe with (elimination diet meat if they are still on ED) and boil it until it's just cooked through: this is a nice, tender, tasty, high value treat for them Just chop into little pieces, bag up and freeze. Edit for spelling! I cant seem to get cheap cuts because he can only get roo and lamb really as I cant seem to get goat anywhere so I have been buying him extra mince and just making him cooked meatballs. I looked at the label for the sausages but to just to make sure there was no other meat in there, I did not think to look at the other stuff!
  17. Mine would want to go and say hello How do you train drop on recall? Thought this may be something we can add to our box of tricks
  18. I have the one from Clean Run, think its the Saratoga horseworks one, I must say if its windy or sunny it only stays wet for about an hour, I would like one that stays cool/damp longer than that

  20. Yes, I'm going to have to proof "heeling with butterflies" for Little Em! Dog help us if she gets dive bombed by a bird At a trial held at our club recently a huge flock of corella's landed on the field right near the rings - that would be my dog gone!!
  21. If my OH tried to tell me where Mason could and could not sleep he would be the one sleeping outside..... he would not dare try it though and he was the one to start letting Mason sleep on the bed..........
  22. Lol I do the dermatologically approved bath , only a light lather and always in the same direction as the fur grows, we got into trouble as we were too rough when we bathed Mason Bathing makes no difference here Mason is just always itchy, its sad really
  23. Yeah u really need to do each thing one at a time, are the 4 legs rolls processed meats? Some dogs cant get processed meats but are fine with the meat if it is not processed. Like for eg my dog can get ham but he cant get the processed BBQ sausages...
