Potential To Compete/train
Mason_Gibbs replied to Mason_Gibbs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
From what i have heard he loves toys , especially playing tug and fetching. I have never chosen a dog thats over 8 weeks old so its going to be a first for us -
I am meeting a dog on saturday who is 6/7 months old who needs a new home. I would like to compete in obedience with the dog and maybe do a little bit of retrieving. I know its hard to see the dogs potential in one meeting but what characteristics do I look for in the dog? I got lucky with my lab as he is very very eager to please.

I will write a little story here for those not on FB. There is a golden retriever who is 7 months old ( Golden Rules' Paddys brother) looking for a new home and we are going to meet him on saturday. We were going to get a pup later in the year but after hearing that this dog needs a home we feel we should give him a chance and Chance is his name. He sounds very smart and sweet and easy to train So if all goes well we will be taking him home with us on saturday evening.

No worries ncarter.......Im sure there were people I said I would try and track down and didnt!!!! There will be other shows :p Were you carrying round a Papillion???? If so - I saw you! But it just didnt click....I am blonde you see ;) Next show Ill be at will be the Ridgy Club show on the 30th April, if anyone else is showing other breeds that day. Just had a pretendy run with Zola to see if her attitude had changed, but as soon as I put her show collar on, down came the ears and the attitude changed almost instantaneously....so I may take her for a social outing, but wont be showing Shes such a dag! Not even food or cutesy noises will change her demeanour...Oh, well do you need to handle her on her show lead or can you build her confidence up just using her everyday collar and lead? If she is anything like my ridgies were you can practice till the cows come home and then get to the show and they freak out!!

I was really impressed with Millies obedience round on friday night RS, it was amazing that she found the dumbell and then actually ran back to position herself in such a way that she could get over the jump on the way back - smart cookie!!

Yes my black lab is the same atm!!!

Have you eaten from there recently? No way could I do 4 nights of food from there LOL I must be deaf I could also not eat from there, could not even finish my burger i had last night, just had a mass of onions and meat, no salad etc...

I think the Dobe did pass with a score of 87 or at least when they got their 3rd prize they didn't say it was a NQ. I just assumed she had failed as only Anne, you and I were called for the stays. Either that or I am going deaf as I definitely only heard 3 numbers called! I heard her call the 4 numbers for stays

Thanks, I saw Brookie doing some great work last night He is such a hard worker your boy!!

Warning...human Grade Camel Meat
Mason_Gibbs replied to sheena's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I dont think feeding horse or camel is any different to feeding beef, lamb, chicken etc. They are still all animals. I just dont feed horse because of all the vaccinations and meds that they get, never fed camel because of the problems people have mentioned in this post. -
Well done everyone!! I was very happy with masons heelwork i could not have asked him to do better he did not miss any automatic sits which he did in practice trials. His sit stay was a flop but i am still proud of him and just need to now work harder on stays
-
Lol I wish I could have stayed for that but OH is working the rest of the weekend so we had to head back early We had a drunk driver in front of us down Gnangara rd and I was so worried that he was going to go onto the other side of the road and cause a head on

You don't have to explain to me about training in SA YOU can get volume controlled clickers - Caffy has one and it is pathetic click Yes I dont think Mason can even hear it!!!
-
well its official......... sit stays suck And you should have seen the Open judge staring down the dogs in the sit stays :D That looked like why your boy dropped so you need to proof him with judges truly trying to intimidate the dogs! Yes they do suck!!!! And at the judge comment!!!! Mirawee was it only u and Anne that passed CCD last night? Do you know what the dob did to fail?? Her owner is actually a very sweet person he gave us so much encouragement last night. Masons breeder also came down to watch his round from the pavillion, she was catering for the judges.

I bought some mini cupcakes to share tonight Surprisingly I have been fine nerve wise the whole day - what will be will be and no reason for me to get nervous although I am a little. More excited than nervous i think . Merriwee is lucky as she has been judged before in agility, first time in a real trial for me
