I use cleaning vinegar in my bucket of water to wash my wooden floors. My dog has yeast infection at the moment and even i have noticed the doggy smell but found its not as bad after floors are washed. Also I spray Ferbreeze on lounge, curtains etc, wash her bedding every couple of days. At one stage even used bicarb on the dog to get rid of her smell..was rushed and didnt have time to bath her but she ponged so sprinkled onto her coat, left for few minutes them brushed out. Took away the smell for a few days.

Out of curiosity what is classed as 'over vaccination'? General consesus is the yearly vaccination protocol. Google "Jean Dodds" and "over vaccination" for some ardous reading. Interestingly, Jean is the main writer on the subject and I often wonder why there are not more experts writing papers on the subject. Ok, thank you I will. I did read on a pet site many months ago, Dr. Becker I think. She recommended every 2 years was enough as the vaccine stays in their system. She recommended a blood test for antogens first before re-vaccination. The vet we used to goto wanted to start my cav at the start with puppy shots again because we had missed last years. The vet we go to now, said as long as she has had all her puppy shots its fine.

I just thank my lucky stars they dont have a breed standard for humans..otherwise alot of us would have been PTS or neutered at birth!

My puppy loves the toilet rolls, more so if there is a bit of paper still attached. I made a few toys out of scraps of material, tied a double knot in the middle (makes it easier to throw). The puppy loves dragging one around the yard at full speed. Its like kids toys, you spend alot of money on the present and they have more fun with the wrapping or box!

Try the capstar for immediate relief.... and get the comfortis on friday when the funds are available. This is an option but it is still $25 a pack here and it's only $60 for the 6 pack of Comfortis. My $180 unexpect vet bill today got me a good! Wonderful idea, I shall do that first thing. Another option would be buy the comfortis online..you can buy it far cheaper then from a vets.

My vet does sell them individually for around 14-00 each. You could always do a ring around of vets to find one that does that. Or capstar as shelby suggested, they are available from the supermarket

My vet recommended KC since we were attending dog shows and coming into contact with alot of dpgs. He also recommended it if we were walking the dogs regulary. It doesnt stop them from getting it but it does reduce the symptoms.

Recently hubby and I purchased a Show Puppy, my mother was horrified that we werent getting her desexed, she accused us of wanting to breed her to make money off her suffering and pain. In her eyes people who breed any dog deserve to be hung drawn and quartered. I asked her where do you think your pet came from??? A cornflake packet????? Needless to say she did not like my comment and I did try to get her to see reason but as hubby says...someone let the gate open in the top paddock and let all the sheep out. so you might as well bang your head against a brick wall for all the good my reasoning did. She still thinks that we will be churning out puppy litters galore and that hubby and i will be rich.

Latest News On Syringomyelia In Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

I guess its luck that in August an MRI became available for use here at the University. Before that you would have to fly the dog to Brisbane to get scanned, so it has become cheaper but still over $1000-00. Unfortunately even if they thought my cav had SM we couldnt afford the MRI. -

I watched the videos. My cav is constantly scratching at her face or neck. rubbing her face on the lounge or doorway. She is currently sitting on the floor sucking her front paws which she does alot. I have had her to vet a couple of times and have been told its allergies. Last time was a couple of weeks ago and was told she had a yeast infection. The vet placed her on her back and sniffed her belly, he said she smells and he changed her conditioner. She has done all 3 since I can remember, the paw sucking is most ennoying cause she gets very loud. She has sucked on her back paws so much she removed all the fur. Her head is not tilted to one side and she has never yelped in pain after doing the neck scratching. I do not think she has this horrid desease but I can see how people can put 2 and 2 together and get SM. One of the videos I watched on youtube was about SM in UK and Carol Fowler. Shame on that blonde breeder in the video who lives in UK for knowlingly breeding her boy who has SM, he sired 26 litters after he was diagnosed!!! Maybe they should be showing a certificate to show that the parents are free of SM. I know that wont stop it but it would help. -
I recently purchased mine from ebay.com.au. $6-00 per tag, get 3rd free. I had the tags within a week and they are plain and simple but do they job. I am an owner of a cav king charles...what is syingomyelia and what are the symptoms? She is 4 1/2 years old and the only problems we have had so far are luxating putellas. She had one operation last thursday to fix the left knee and will have the right one done in 6 months time if needed. -
I just googled for comedomes and it says they are blackheads.
-
My first thought was blackheads, specially since they popped out from her skin. Dogs can get acne so why not blackheads to.

We brought a 3m x 3m green mat on the weekend from the Show Van for 65-00 in Cairns. I priced them at the local Asian shop and they were the same price. 100-00 for 3m x 5m mat.

My Cav is having knee surgery in 10 days and was hoping someone could share their experience on recovery and long term outcome. Cheers

Rare Special Needs Breeds In Pet Shops
Liath replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
My forever friend died on the 1st Sept and I was going to the petshop to get a dose of cuteness just to fill a void. While there I would tell people who were goggling at the puppies that its cheaper and far safer to buy one from a good breeder. Why on earth pay 900+ for a puppy who you have no idea where it came from. We recently purchased a beautifull little girl from a breeder far cheaper then from the a pet shop. We were able to view the parents and other offspring, meet the breeders and we have backup if we need it by phone and email. We have been in constant contact with them asking questions that they have been more then happy to answer. Our baby girl is happy, healthy and well adjusted pup which she should be as she came from a caring environment. -
My Lhasa Apso puppy who is 5 1/2 months old wakes at 6am and wakes me by licking me on the leg. She persists until I get out of bed and take her outside for toilet break. Once back inside she thinks its play time and bounces all over the place and on the other dog who is still trying to sleep. I am still half asleep but amuses me that something so small can have sooo much energy so early in the morning. Wish I could borrow some of it.

I have a 4 1/2 old girl cav who 'talks'. She asks for biscuits, for gates to be opened for her, for cuddles or to play, she evern 'spoke' to the vet the other day when we paid him a visit. She is persistant and gets louder until you pay attention. i have never had another dog that has done this, is this common to the cavs? Cheers
