  1. My Aussie Shepherd was spayed at 6 months and now has occasional incontinence too (she aged 2.5). I don't think you did anything wrong...I think it is a risk, that isn't particularly well known. I ummm and ahhhed about the timing of getting my girl done...did lots of research, spoke to a lot of people and thoughtfully made a decision...but then had that happen. My Siberian was spayed at 6 months also and has never had an issue (now 7.5). Unfortunately I think it is luck (or lack of) of the draw.
  2. She is such a little character RS - the looks just add to it. I bet she was a huge hit with the crowd at the Royal :-)
  3. I'm with pie and RS - if that dog rushed at you, and attacked your dog on the street then the owners are certainly the ones in the wrong, not you! And you are quite within your rights to report it to the Ranger so that it doesn't happen again.
  4. K9+ crates for us too - their service is fantastic, and their crates are really well made (reinforced in all the right places, high quality QA and sturdy fabric).
  5. I got mine from Guide Dogs QLD Ptolomy, and they have lasted for months and months so far, even when Zazu leaves it on the balcony in the rain. They weren't cheap but have been lasting really well (and supports a good cause!). They are really similar to the ones that were being sold to raise money for agility. http://shop-guidedogsqld-com-au.myshopify.com/products/leading-raw-natural-deer-antler-chews
  6. My girls love them too. I have read a report that suggested there has been a high number of tooth fractures on them, so I carefully supervise my girls but they don't seem to be chomping hard enough to crack teeth so I'm not too concerned, and will continue using them. Great inside chew toys as they don't get stinky or messy. They are expensive but they last for ages, so I'm happy to pay.
  7. Ohh - that is good pricing too. Thanks Rumour!
  8. I like the Joint Guard Liver Chews - they are slightly more expensive than the powder but much easier to handler (I hate powders). Vet n Pet Direct is the cheapest I've found them (and also currently 15% off) http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/JGARDLT#.UjJtwtJgfSs
  9. I listened to an interesting podcast on Bad Dog Agility yesterday regarding the One Mind Handling System, from Finland. http://baddogagility.com/episode-41-janita-jaakko-and-the-one-mind-system/ Has anyone here had any experience with this system? What are your thoughts/experiences? I did a quick check but couldn't find any previous posts on this topic. If this has appeared in a past thread please send me the link and I will have a look there. Thanks!
  10. Thanks RV! We do what we can, and it has made me revise my goals a little but is still fun :-) And whilst the fur girls keep enjoying it we will keep giving it a crack.
  11. On bugger about the broad! We withdrew from agility and snooker as didn't have weave poles fully trained. And Novice Jumping...well that was a disaster. Not unpredictable though so hopefully will provide the motivation to address Kyte's obsession with with moving things. I think we will be pulling out our Recallers notes!
  12. Retired from weightpull Finally won her first minor class in racing today. Was bikejoring- as I've switched to that for now. It's our first first :D Also placed 3rd ( by not very much) at our National Championships last weekend :D Nice work Esky! Has been a good weekend for the Siberians :D
  13. Oh come on Tumbleweed - that is only half a brag - she also finished second in the class with her Aussie Kite and had somebody else handling one of her dogs in stays. Fantastic result Tumbleweed - you have done so well with both your kids - one of them not being classed as easy to train either. I hope you celebrated BIG time last night Thanks Ptolomy! Was very proud of my (not so baby) dog too :D She worked well and was nice and confident which is my main concern with her. Was bought back to earth with a big thud today at agility with Kyte running out of the ring to chase and try to play with a dog in the ring next door. Big whoops. Back to the drawing board!
  14. Check aaaand check! Zazu gained the final leg to her CCD title today in Perth. never one to take the easy path she managed to hold her stays during a very warm day, in a lovely sized CCD class.
  15. A heartfelt brag for me- yesterday my Siberian Husky Zazu gained her CCD title in Perth. It has been a long time in the work and there has been more than a few times I've seriously considered giving up....but we did it! Her attitude and love for life makes her a joy to train :-)
  16. I live about 1.5 hours from my closest club so I train where ever and whenever I can - plus spend a lot of time doing online classes (Denise Fenzi and Daisy Peel) and networking with other trainers online. Video cameras become very useful! Look at using what you have around you - last week we went to Junior Football to practise as there were lots of distractions (other dogs, whistles, car horns, lots of people yelling etc). It is certainly harder than having a great club nearby, but it is possible!
  17. Denise Fenzi! She has website with a great blog, a YouTube channel with lots of great stuff and online classes starting every 2 months. Fantastic trainer - and awesome seminar presenter when she was over last month.
  18. Sounds like you need another dog to run with her, and have a 2 dog team :D Sandy tracks are certainly harder work for the dog and the musher...much harder to pull, and much easier to fall off when the scooter digs in!
  19. Would love to do weightpull but we don't have that in WA. Would also be interested in tracking, but hard enough to do the other sports when you live remote with no teachers, so adding more would just be silly. I take my hat off to you for bikejoring. There is NO way I would do that. Tried it once and I ended up crashing, falling and hitting the cross bar on the bike. Ouch. Even my little 18 kg Aussie loves scootering. She tires quickly as is very fast but not powerful so pulling is hard work. But she does seem to enjoy it. Starts barking and getting excited everytime I bring out the scooter :-)
  20. Love these - what a great find. As someone that does obedience/rally/agility but also dryland sledding, scootering and cani-cross I had a real giggle (particularly at the spitz comment :D ). Totally agree with the bikejoring one - you have to be nuts to try that! At least a scooter/rig is close to the ground when you stack.
  21. Oso + Rommi - 6 whippet babies, 3 of each gender. RV + Zora - 6 Brittney babies too - but 5 boys, 1 girl. Good luck to both of you for the upcoming births. Can't wait to see fat wormy sleepy milk drunk puppy photos!
  22. Nice Work RV and Zora! And good luck for the litter arrival :-)
  23. Sage has been found! 8 days on the run, but now safe and sound with her family again. Time for a massive happy dance :-)
  24. Thanks CareyJ, They were unable to locate her again last night after she was spotted, so heading back out this morning to try and find her again. She is very very spooked by all accounts so that isn't helping :-(
  25. Thanks RS. Yes they are so worried and have been working so hard to find her. :-( Sage is a sledding dog and a like most dog sport 'families' is not only missed by her family but the entire sledding crew in WA. Last race just wasn't the same without her. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed that she is home soon. There was a sighting this afternoon so at least we know she is OK at the moment, although by all reports very scared and hungry.
