  3. It depends where this occured in the park as there are both leashed and off-leashed areas within Centennial park, as well as dog-free zones. http://www.centennialparklands.com.au/activities/dog_walking That said, it is charitable of him to put it out there he doesn't think they should be put down though. Just glad it wasn't a small child walking said dog that got in the way...
  4. Hehe.. funny story :) Here's the story for those who can't click through
  5. I am not in Sydney for this, but thought other people might be interested:
  6. Thanks Nina Family and friends are very dedicated to finding a good home for him, he was very loved by his dad, he's a very affectionate boy. They have called AWDR and are filling out their form, I'm not sure what sort of help there will be but I'm glad they're working together Clyde - Are you still happy to put up a few posters in your area? I will be able to send you a poster by the end of day. Will shoot you a PM to grab an email address... Thanks all
  7. Oh and have asked re poultry, will ask aboyt stock
  8. Nothing found on google searches, but I did find the Duck Inn (Chippendale) which has a dog friendly beer garden... might suss it out with Panto.
  9. Bumping this thread - anyone know of any Sydney based doggie events in the near future?
  10. Hopefully it's a great success! Have you seen it publicised anywhere other than the smallprint Bartok?
  11. It is Rach Me too Ok, some updates. Tyson is microchipped and desexed, and he has been in a Kennel in the Mittagong area since the first week of January (so nearly 5 weeks in the kennels already now). He can also walk on lead. I have asked her to get in touch with AWDR too, to see if they can help. I have asked if he is good with smalls/cats/children, though I don't want to ask too much of his late owner's mum as I am sure it is a very distressing time for her too. Is there anything else I should be asking?
  12. True Erny. We definitely don't have the full picture. I hope for Heidi's sake, she is not lost in the politics of the situation and the best outcome for her is achieved.
  13. Is everyone reading the full story?? Even on the first link/website, euth is not the only option and Heidi doesnt need saving - the owner has a few options, including the family moving out of the Royal Oak area. She is not doomed. (It's noted in the article - link provided by weasels - that she registered Heidi a matter of days later)
  14. Hi all, Posting in general rescue as he's not quite as urgent as the pound puppies, but he's also not not urgent. Tyson's young owner recently passed away and he is currently being kenneled, but I don' t know how long that can go on for, but I don't think it would be long. I have permission to post the below photos and blurb. If you may be able to help please PM me and I can pass on contact details. I don' tknow which kennels he is at, but it is in the Sydney area. 2 year old brown Kelpie cross named Tyson has recently been orphaned and is looking for a new master. He is a friendly, active and energetic dog who would be well suited to a larger property or someone who could spend a lot of time with him (for example a builder). Tyson used to travel around with his prior master everyday in the back of his ute! I am awaiting further information on him and will update as and when I have it at hand.
  15. Free to "good" home indeed. Article says there was a customer base of about 100 people buying the dog meat - I wonder how they got that piece of information. Is it illegal to purchase meat from a home butcher? Or just to sell it?
  16. With the unconditional love of a dog, he probably still wagged his tail for the scumbag who did this to him and would never want to hurt him/her. I hope he/she is found and never allowed to own another living thing and have the book thrown at him.Run free Floyd
  17. We were very fortunate to find a small property management agency and got to know the property manager. Once she approved our application- she showed us through a number of potential houses and then let us decide which one best suited us- (pending approval from owner of course) I hope it works out well for us next time :) good work!!
  18. what a horrid situation! I've had to blast my PM for being lazy and turning a blind eye too. At one point I had tenants move out and I was not informed?!? Just no money to help pay the mortgage so I had to call up and ask. Do they think we're made of money?! Yes, the PMs do play a big role. Unfortunately they don't get paid much for the work they do as simple as it may be, because it's more or less a starting (ish) role in a real estate agency, hence there is little respect for the role/job from both sides.
  19. I think wrong is the wrong word to use. I am not disagreeing with you and am in the same position looking for somewhere - but that's my point - I may not be able to find somewhere as close to the city as I want, nor as affordable, the right amount of space - but there are scenarios that are doable, but would require sacrifices. My point is the priority is not giving up your pet, such as you have demonstrated. It IS hard work. We are spending about an hour a day looking, spreadsheeting and making calls, and that's before any inspections. And I too would rather buy/build before having to move again. I am saying most people give up far too easily without trying hard enough, given the city that they want to live in. I work harder at finding the right rental than I do trying to find the right tenant, and my current tenants have 4 kids and a dog. What I did have a problem with, was my property manager strongly advising me not to allow pets because of the horrible messes they've had to clean up. I had strongly wanted to say 'pet friendly upon application'. Our compromise was not to mention pets at all, and would consider them on a per application basis. I hope anyone saying they've had difficulty in finding something are also checking out anything that doesnt mention pets at all in their ad, and walking around real estate agents, meeting property managers and talking to them to see what they have coming up. A property manager meeting a potential good tenant will be letting them know first up if they have something, because it saves them the work of doing open houses if they don't have to - why bother doing an open house if you have the right tenant already, that you know is going to pay the rent?

So sorry for your loss, what a gorgeous face he has. So lucky to have had each other.
  21. I've been in this position too - landlord at the time defaulted on mortgage 5 months into a 12 month lease. We decided to stay. PM and even the head of the real estate company came to try tell us how hell it would be. We had read up on our rights and after their 15min 'viewing' time was over kicked out the agents too, and only gave them the timeslots we were required to give without forfeiting our right to 'peaceful enjoyment' or whatever the term is, of our abode. The sneaky agent organised one night for an 'electrical inspection', and without telling us brought 3 parties to view the property. In front of these parties, I asked the agent inside, shut the door and blasted him for his lack of communication and consideration to us as tenants, and I that never should he do this again to other tenanted properties. If you're a tenant in this position, you can't afford to take the "can't be bothered" or "I'll sort it out later", you have to be bothered and you have to act on your rights, and seek advice (which is free) if you aren't sure. The property manager's job is to look out for the property on behalf of the landlord, not for the renters (although a good PM knows happy renters = happy landlords). Makes me think, if there's a market or niche out there for rental brokers, to find good tenants a property for them and back them up should things go awry. As a renter myself, I don't think it's something I would be willing to pay for quite honestly.
