  1. Doesn't look like it by the last date recorded on the pinned Sydney meet ups page. I'm not sure regular would go down well but perhaps if they're planned one off picnics it might work? I would suggest Leichhart's Cafe Bones but it's very crowded as it is. Perhaps... Centennial park?
  2. A little more detail in the smh article: http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/tyra-judgment-thrown-out--fatal-dog-attack-family-loses-case-against-council-on-appeal-20120416-1x2q3.html Doesn't sound right to me... but I don't have the full details. Hearing about this fatality really made me sick. The poor little girl.
  3. I'm trying to think outside the square, but is it a big dog whose pawsteps would scare the snakes away too? Perhaps a little cat bell? I don't know, perhaps all just very silly, just a few ideas :p Panto has killed a red belly black in my parents' yard before, I was out and nearly fainted when my dad called to tell me. She went to the vet, stayed for observation but was completely fine thank goodness.
  4. Before relying on electronic snake repellers, you might want to encourage her to have a read of this.. http://www.aussiepyt...pellent-118888/ cross linking what seems a valuable link for anyone doing some research on snake repelling...
  5. Wonder who RehuZ is... it's their first and only post... I think this is the thread you were searching for?
  6. http://www.woollahra..._is_on_facebook Puppies in the Park - Woollahra Council Sunday 22 April 2012 at Rushcutters Bay Park, Rushcutter Bay from 9am - 12 noon. (Link is for the photo competition)
  7. What a gorgeous little corgster!! Love the matching SES outfits too!
  8. I saw a presentation by Assistance Dogs Australia at Martin Place in Sydney. They are running a puppy training program in the juvenile facility (and adult holding facilities too?), where inmates are taught how to train a dog and care responsibly for an animal - it was having great success for both sides.
  9. If your seats can be pulled forward (ie with access to the boot/hatch space), flip the top of the cover (and the old head rest straps) over that, and close it back up. That should hold your cover in place.
  10. Great product idea, but I'm not so sure about all the reviews on the side suggesting it's an alternate option to microchipping. Tags and collars are easily removable. Microchips, a fair bit harder. They could work well together.
  11. Links are from K9pro's website, they are also posted in the training website NILIF TOT
  12. Thank you. He is possibly the sweetest most friendliest dog I have ever meet. His potential is overwhelming and he has so much love to give. :) Will take your advice with the halti and take it slowly. TW's suggestions of TOT and NILIF are fantastic too. They worked really well with the boofer I had. It's a great read, for both you and your OH. You can find them in the training thread. It requires a lot of discipline on the human's part. He got pats and cuddles when he was settled, and not when he asked for it. (Trust me, when you have a wagging boofy face asking for a cuddle, it's MUCH harder on you than him, but it worked).
  13. Kudos to you for your dedication to Eric, he sounds like a loving boofer :) I have had a similar foster boy, it was all I could do to not think it wasn't the same boy they sound so alike. The suggestions so far have been great - love the big box suggestion and the local dog clubs. With the head halter, my only suggestion might be that it's just you or just your OH (not both oout walking him at the same time) and having a go initially with him so both dog and handler can really focus on getting it right. You may not get more than 50 or 100m the first few times, but it will be a big mental stimulation for him, it's a big new learning experience. Be careful he doesn't buck and pull on the halter too much that he hurts his neck, go slow. I used to also duct tape old ice cream or large yoghurt tubs with holes cut out and have his treats in them, and he could roll it around or destroy it to get to what was inside. He used to get it literally as the last thing before I shut the door and that was his feed. After a couple times, he would happily take this treat and walk away with it before I even shut the door and did not care I was leaving. The front clipping harness is also good, but not a great fix in the long term.
  14. Hi all, Apologies if this has already been posted, I had a little search but couldn't find it previously posted. Thought some people with failure fosters or rescued family members may want to participate. My Human Family
  15. me too. RIP little one Hope you find comfort TA, esp during the early days.
  16. Hi ES Could you post photos and a character profile of her? I'm happy to help with making up a poster and can send around.
  17. That so needs to be filmed... I foresee Australia's Funniest Home Video's in that dog's future :) Oh, and you should get Panto some Mr Whippy. She'll love it :D I'll have to get them to do that, it's been a couple years. This thread reminded me of his antics... what a boofer. hehe yes maybe once I will get a mr whippy and she can have a lick or two.
  18. Panto has howled once or twice to a siren, but without fail will howl at a Mr Whippy van! In the same mournful, thoughtful manner... perhaps she knows she will never get some Mr Whippy ;) A friend's pound dog (irish setter x?) sings along / howls to Michael Jackson's Beat it... so funny.
  19. For anyone interested, it is on the ten website, episode 5. For anyone else like me that just wants to skip to the story and not have to watchthe rest of it, in each of the four sections, skip to the below tines (apx): 2:50 3:00 2:30 1:00 Gorgeous little dog and outcome, Denise spoke so well and looked great too, saw the paws shirt in there!
  20. Oh I will have to stream it! Juice - you can go to the channel ten website and stream past episodes, they are up there for a couple weeks after they go to air. Agree with dogmad about Denise, she is lovely. I fostered Eadie for her last year.
  21. I'm so sorry for your loss I just read your story through and they brought me many smiles, even though I knew my reading this would end in tears. Glad you both had the last couple of years together. it sounds as though you were as blessed as each other.
  22. Update - TYSON HAS A NEW HOME!!!! We had some leads from the posters, I'm not sure if it was one of those, but his new home will be in the Mittagong area. If I can get any piccies of him in his new home I will share here. So happy for Tyson right now :D
