  1. Aw Sheena! Cricket is so sweet! Ambrosia, sorry to disappoint :p Hopefully his breeder will send through some new photos this coming weekend, I usually get them every other weekend
  2. 2 1/2 weeks to go here! Yay :D I haven't bought anything, I can't figure out what we'll need that we don't already have (except for a crate) and I don't know how big he'll be when he gets here, because he's about 2 months younger than Joss was. So I'm going to wing it :p That's a good idea, right?
  3. That's a bit misleading - there have been "many" cases of children born of incest having serious physical/mental disabilities.
  4. I've only had one Lappie and she's only 11 months old, so take my opinion with a moderate grain of salt ;) We have found her exceptionally trainable, she's very smart and eager to please so she's always looking to be taught new things. We take her to obedience training once a week and she is doing very well (am yet to figure out how to train her not to eat the cat though). She needs a bit of grooming to prevent knots, but surprisingly little considering her coat. We wash her about once a month - dirt more or less falls off, but she occasionally rolls in something disgusting ;) We don't have any rabbits, but she has caught the odd rat! She LOVES to chase and will run for as long as we let her, but is also happy to crash on the couch for hours.
  5. Fingers crossed Katie! Welcome kasoo What colour is your (hopefully) little boy?
  6. I hope it sticks! Joss was nameless for ages. Did I say that already? Your little guy is so cute lucious :D Welcome Sabbath! We have I think 3 1/2 weeks to go - it might be 4 1/2 weeks. I'm losing count. Here are a couple more from the weekend (thanks Melissa - I live for these photos!): He has quite a lot of white on him, I can't wait to see what he looks like as an adult.
  7. Tentatively Rupert ... maybe. Naming things is so hard, we'll wait till he gets here
  8. I also wouldn't be put off my markings if it was the right puppy for me personality-wise, as Esky said, but if it's important to you then it's important to you! I do think it's important never to end up with a pet because you felt like you should. Here's a new one of our boy (now tentatively with a new name that I'm not sure about yet!):
  9. Saw "rare breed black shih tzu x cavug" advertised this morning for $550 :\
  10. Oh, don't mind me and my misreading - mother is the paternal grandmother? That's not quite as close or alarming and I would have thought not completely unheard of.
  11. So the original dog produced a bitch who was then mated to her father to produce this other dog, who she was also then bred with? She's produced litters with her father and her son? That does seem OTT, even for line breeding.
  12. Dennis, Dexter, Dorian, Denzel, Damien, Drazic Donald, Douglas, David? Congrats on your new arrivals!
  13. It definitely is :/ Tonkadolls is one I see a lot (Tonkinese x Ragdoll). Yesterday I saw Burmese x Persian advertised as 'Exotics' - nevermind that it's already a breed, and your kittens definitely aren't it!
  14. Sorry to hear that Esky Come for a visit to Melbourne for Lappie cuddles!
  15. My children have very different personalities and lifestyle requirements ;) Nothing wrong with a bit of versatility!
  16. There are so many breeds I covet! DOL was my introduction to Lappies about 3 years ago, but I didn't bite the bullet and actually make enquiries until last year. We have another Lappie on the way in June. My list of other must-have-at-some-point-in-the-next-30-years goes a bit like: Bull mastiff GSD Belgian Shepherd Alaskan Malamute Norwegian Elkhound Border Collie Australian Shepherd Golden Retriever Newfoundland I'd love for my next (next) dog to be a big, slobbery one
  17. We have 5 weeks to go as well! Coming from Oracle who is only 3 hrs away from where I live. Great for visiting while they are babies Mum is Articmal, dad is Magpielane. She has a few aunty and uncles on here. So exciting! I'm jealous of puppy visits, Queensland is a bit far for me to go Fingers crossed there is a pup for you Katie!
  18. Although in the meantime I'm helping my sister and her partner on their hunt for the perfect brindle Staffy, which is a nice distraction :D
  19. Oh yay Ambrosia! Where is she coming from?? I am losing patience rapidly By my calculations we have 5 weeks to go.
  20. I like Karlo... I've been looking a Finnish girls names for my to be lappie, found the perfect name the other day (and husband liked, which doesn't happen often) then googled the name + Finnish Lapphund and saw there was one in Australia closely related to breeder... grrrrrr.... Katie do you have your name picked? Are you going Japanese? I kind of like ironically un-Finnish names, although I do like Karlo! There's a Lappie at obedience called Kai (just in case you were wondering ). I like a lot of 'old man' type names! OH says he gets to choose this one's name anyway He has horrible taste, so I may end up calling it something else when he's not listening. Part of the trouble is that I've had so many animals in my life that I'm running out of names
  21. They really are. I am going to have to make a concerted effort to stop ;) A couple more updated photos of Finn/Flynn/Nameless below! I had a little cuteness overload and explosion at work. 4 weeks (and a bit)!
  22. WA, Halo looks like she is having THE BEST TIME EVER in that second photo! I love the way Lappies smile Panzer, we're tentatively calling him Finn at this stage ;) I didn't make the connection between the name Finn and the breed Finnish Lapphund until after I'd decided I was in love with it Might possibly go with Flynn instead. I also like Henry. We'll see when he gets here, it took us a couple of weeks to settle on Joss And I can understand why Scooter is such a popular Pap name!
  23. He's adorable Anna! hehe, he has a very serious little face! Bless.
  24. Here's a new one of our boy at 4 weeks 6 weeks to go!
