  1. This is the confusing part. How do you decide when or whether to re-vaccinate the dog if the titer results come back insufficient 12 months or 3 years down the track? Thank you, is Gribbles the place in Scotland/UK? I'm sure that's where at least one part of it is tested. Your question is also what I'm confused about
  2. I personally wouldn't titre test for a few years- but it will depend what you do with your dog. Obedience clubs will probably want more regular titres for example. That's what I am confused about. For example if I titre in a few weeks time, and it shows low levels....then what do I do? I wouldn't want to risk re-vaccinating him especially so soon. I know the agility club I was attending with my girl, agreed to accept titres after I asked. It is a big club and they had never come across it before! Thank you for your input, I do appreciate all the help from everyone :)
  3. My vet has notified Virbac, and they said apparently that his reaction is more than likely an individual response and they do not feel that there is reason to recall the batch. So do I still need to report as above? Thank you :) Yep. You certainly should.. It's a really simple form for you or your vet to complete. I can undertand Virbac saying it is likely just an individual reaction, but only if individual reactions are recorded will anyone know if there is a bigger problem developing. Ok I will complete the online form then, thank you :)
  4. Thank you becks :) So if I titer in the next few weeks, does that mean I need to repeat it in a years times? I'm so confused
  5. Although I'm pleased that one year on, my boy's titre showed positive for sufficient antibodies proving sero-conversion, from what I have read and understand, if it showed nothing, that does not mean that sero-conversion has not taken place. It is possible that sero-conversion had taken place but that the antibody "make-up" had receded to "cell memory" - not floating around the body so to speak, but the body ready and able to rev them up and get them out there should exposure to the disease/s occur. So, for the sake of proving and therefore ensuring sero-conversion, I believe the accepted Titre period is 2 weeks after the last vaccination. Or, if that period has already expired, then as soon as possible thereafter. Again - this is my understanding of it that I have developed from things I've read here and elsewhere. Personally, I think your decision to waiver on the Canine Cough vaccine is a wise one. Thank you Erny :) It's all way too complicated for my lil brain! I will ask the vet on Monday about the time frame. I do trust him, he is supportive of my choices re, raw feeding etc. Sometimes I almost wish I stayed in the past where with my previous dogs I just accepted the conventional way of thinking re food and vaccines etc! It seemed so much less confusing then!
  6. Ouch- perhaps start a new thread asking where people get their dogs titred. I pay $80 (+consult) I think for the bloods to be taken and shipped to WA with a turn around of a couple of days. Yes ouchie! Thank you, that is a good idea. I will check with my vet on Monday and go from there! Iknow at the time I couldn't believe the price I was quoted
  7. With my puppy loving to paddle in the inside water bowl, I have a plastic tray (1 inch lip) under the water bowl...and then a towel in front of it.
  8. My vet has notified Virbac, and they said apparently that his reaction is more than likely an individual response and they do not feel that there is reason to recall the batch. So do I still need to report as above? Thank you :)
  9. Thank you all so much for your input, I really do appreciate it :) I am going to pass on the KC and will titer at 12 months (I think!). I am not planning on having to board him at any stage, so hopefully it won't be an issue. I just sent his paperwork off to the training club so hopefully will be OK with the 2 vac's he has already had. From memory, when I inquired about titer costs last year for Molly, I *think* it was around $180 each??? Will check on Monday as I need to get hers done.(and they were sent off to the UK). His poop is almost black in colour today with some form but still mushy Thank you again :)
  10. Thank you so much for all those references :) I really appreciate it. I just want to do the best for my pup and it is all so confusing. My girl is due for her vac's next month so I will arrange titer tests for her (and go broke in the process!).
  11. My now 13 1/2 week old GSD pup had his first vaccine C4 at the breeders at nearly 8 weeks. So on Monday I took him for his Canigen DHA2P (distemper, hepatitis and parvo) and KC. Monday night he was quiet (not at all like him) vomited a few times and had diarrhea. Tuesday one more vomit and still liquid diarrhea. He is fine within himself now, stools still not great. I have had him on boiled chicken/rice and have added Scourban and probiotics. Took a stool sample in for testing and the vet called this afternoon to say the test was clear. He thinks he had a reaction to the vac's. He has been in touch with Virbac but they think it is an individual reaction so are not going to recall those batches. Fair enough. But Cooper is due for another KC in a month. I really don't want to risk vaccinating again so am thinking titer tests from now on. I have tried to understand all the information out there (Dr Dodds etc) but am confused. I *think* if he had had these vac's at 16 weeks he *should* be OK? But he had them at 12 weeks. Does anyone have any knowledge or advice please? I do not want my puppy to get sick from not vaccinating but also do not want to risk worse reactions from giving him another one. Thank you in advance for any help :)
  12. I hope I haven't buggered up your poll! I put full-time but I am my DH's full-time carer so not really employed as such.
  13. I have also given my girl Traumeel and then Zeel for a shoulder injury. It seemed to help her. Hoping Amber does well :) http://www.vitacost.com/Heel-Traumeel-Anti-inflammatory-Analgesic-Homeopathic-Medicine#IngredientFacts http://www.vitacost.com/Heel-Zeel-Homeopathic-Medication
  14. Yes I am slowing realising that. My girl is all working lines on her dams side and a complete mish-mash of the sires side . Just realised recently that my friends GSD is related to Molly as well.
  15. Thanks guys, I am already super impressed with him! Food drive is out of this world! Jen, that's cool how they are related!
  16. Of course I don't mind :) http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=603818 http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=591149
  17. I have a pup from Raennik (WL breeder in QLD), so far he is amazing, so so confident.
  18. Thank you so very much :) This is all so new to me!
  19. There are two ET's in QLD that I know of. One is in Mackay, the other in Ipswich. M Thank you :) Do you happen to know how I could find out the dates or should I phone Dogs Qld? Sorry to be a pain.
  20. Probably a stupid question but are there any ET in Qld? I've looked at Dogs Qld and can't see anything?
  21. Keeping all fingers and paws crossed here Alvin comes home asap.
  22. Molly had one on her lip a few months back. I didn't know what it was (kept an eye on it but it got bigger over a few days). The vets actually removed it and sent it away for testing (I wanted to know for sure). After it was cut out The vet said it is more common to appear in older dogs but that they can appear anywhere and not to be overly concerned if another appears. Not sure that's of any help, sorry.
