BC I am so glad that the increased dose seems to be helping poor Stella *hugs*. Honestly her and my Molly sound like they are cut from the same cloth Molly has been on Prozac for over a month and is a lot better in general. I have had to dose her up on Xanax with the weather lately. She also seems to 'recover' a bit quicker when she goes nuts at other dogs on our walks. This morning a dog behind a fence (see through) was carrying on at her and of course she responded but within about 10 metres of walking she was ok.

I agree with all the possible testing but just please be aware (as I'm sure you are) that things can still go wrong. I have a lovely working line boy from a wonderful breeder who did everything she could and unfortunately he has severe hip dysplasia (first diagnosed at 10 months)so total hip replacements here we come

I give my boy Muscle Pro which is a powder and I just add a little water to the bowl and mix it to a slurry then add his food.

Thank you for all the stories, I am in tears of laughter here! I have one that likes to eat his own so I have to follow him around. Cat crunchies are a treat the odd time they sneak in the laundry. And one who wakes from a dead sleep to the sound of the cat puking....she's so fast trying to clean it up that more often than not she will end up with upchuck on her head. Joy!

I am so happy it is making a difference for Mac, that is just the best news I hope if you do try it for Grumpy, it doesn't upset his tummy and that it makes a noticable difference too Sheridan.

You could also give something like rescue remedy a go along side the Feliway. One of my cats pees in inappropriate places when she is stressed.

Hi Hankdog, Molly has been on it for just shy of a month now and so far zero side effects. I had pretty much tried everything I could before this option. She is reactive too but the reason why she is on it is not for that, she has pretty severe anxiousness. I know when I first went on it myself, the Dr told me it takes about 2 weeks to notice any difference so I would *think* it may be similar for your boy. The only obvious thing I can think of may be lethargy. Good luck and I hope it helps your boy and he has no side effects.

Yes, kind of Molly has severe storm fears and I give her Xanax, never had a problem. But one time while my foster was here she went a bit cujo after dosing. She did no harm thank dog but I did pull her off bloody fast. She has never had an episode the same with subsequent storms but now she is on Prozac full time.

Medication should not be considered a "last resort". It's not a failure of yours if your dog is helped by medication more than behavioural modification or training. For dogs who react in a big way to storms, risking injury to themselves and destruction to property, or if they are hysterical and can't settle down at all, medication may be the best thing you can do for them. I urge people to break away from this idea that medication is a last resort and consider instead how bad your dog is feeling when there is a thunderstorm. Is it acceptable for your dog to feel that way? Would you change it if they didn't have to feel that way? Medication may well mean that they don't have to go through that every time there is a storm. It's worth investigating in some cases IMO. Not picking no you, bianca.a. I'm glad you got your dog on medication and I can guess what a huge decision that was for you. There IS a stigma attached to it and I think that is wrong. Those of us who love our dogs are unlikely to be using medication to simply manage something we find irritating. We are doing it because we love our dogs. Thank you Corvus, it was a big decision for me. It's hard to explain but I felt like I needed to try other options first. Strange when I take medications for anxiety myself. Molly was not always storm phobic, she ignored them probably until a year ago. We had another storm tonight, the thunder was not overhead but she was a wreck. She was panting so hard I thought her heart would give out. I didn't give her any Xanax as I hadn't thought to check with her vet that she can have it in addition to Prozac. Will email him. So I just held her tight and turned the tv up

Molly is over the top anxious in general now and storms are the final straw She has been on Prozac for nearly 3 weeks and it is helping. Usually I have to dose her with Xanax during storms but tonight I didn't give her anything and while she was stressed, she was much better. P.S I did not head straight for medicines either, we have tried so many natural therapies first.

I have fed them to my GSDs before and never had a problem. I guess it's like anything though, there will always be a dog that has had a problem with it.

I know the bottle is HUGE! From what I have read, if it is going to help it happens relatively fast (days). I really hope it helps Mac and thanks for the kisses!
