I have been walking Coop on an Easy-walk harness and Molly on a sen-sible (?) harness. The night before last I noticed Cooper had a red icky looking lump under his arm (pit) and have been using Neocort on it. So have been walking him on his flat collar. I checked Moo and she was fine, but after todays walk she has a nasty red welt area in the same area I guess I am looking for some front attaching harness that maybe is made of neoprene or something that wont rub. I usually walk them both together with a coupler and much prefer the added control of the harness versus collars. Any help would be greatly appreciated please.

She is beautiful! Hi Troy!

Yep my two GSDs are fed Canidae (gave up on Black Hawk due to poor coat on my male) and Cooper gets total 2 1/2 cups per day and Molly gets 1 1/2 cups per day plus meat/eggs etc. Good luck and please let us know how they go :)

I also tried VIP grain free and was horrified at the amount that was being pooped out too  Also Molly started scratching quite a bit which could have been coincidence I know. So we are back on Canidae grain free with RMB and raw meat added nightly.

Another Joint Supplement: Rose-hip Vital Canine
bianca.a replied to ness's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sorry if it has already been mentioned but what dose are people giving? I have been giving both my GSDs 1 per day and I think that may not be enough? They are 28 and 30kgs. -
 Harper!

My 2 German Shepherds I would think would bark up a huge storm. They do if somebody turns up until I say it's ok. I *think* my bitch would be more likely to follow up on her bark but really am unsure as they are never left out alone. My male would probably hide behind Molly whilst barking like a loon!

Hi all, My fathers camera has started this weird thing where all photos taken have lines through them. I have formatted the memory card and mucked around with as much as I can to no avail. Any ideas would be gratefully accepted please :)

Has Anyone Had Success Going Through Hollards Dispute
bianca.a replied to bianca.a's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thank you all so much In the cold light of day it doesn't seem so bad now, it's just more debt I owe. I am going to fight it though, I have to try. I see Coopers surgeon on Thursday for a 6 week check-up so will talk to him about it more then. My local vet really believes they should pay out even if not for the 'implants'. Hopin like hell he wont need the left side done next year. -
Has Anyone Had Success Going Through Hollards Dispute
bianca.a replied to bianca.a's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thank you all I really appreciate it. The clause is: The cost of organ transport surgery, artifical limbs, prosthetics and any associated costs. Both vets apparently have seen this before and they just don't pay the cost of the actual implant. -
Hi all Just wondering if anyone has had success taking a declined claim (Medibank) to Hollards Dispute Resoultion Committee? I found out today they have declined the $8000 for Coopers total hip replacement. They have paid for everything to date for his hip dysplasia. And they also paid out for the follow up treatment after the surgery for his clipper burn which was related to the surgery. I have left a message for the surgeon to contact me to see if he can help. My local vet thinks it's crap. I am totally miserable. My DH and I have just split up, I move out tomorrow (to my parents) have been his carer for 4 years so will be jobless as of tomorrow and have to now borrow $4000 from my parents to pay for my half of the credit card bill. And somehow manage to come up with another $8000 for the other side. Sorry for the whinge

Good luck Stitch. P.S they have a nasty bitter taste so you may need to hide them in peanut butter or something. -

Electric Fence- Invisible Fence
bianca.a replied to miss2's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have run a hotwire around my 1 acre section and both dogs have touched it once and never again :) I think it cost me in the region of $200-$300 for all the bits. -
Any New Meds To Help With Storm Phobias?
bianca.a replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
That's interesting BC, thank you :) Stitch I take Xanax for my panic attacks and for Molly I use it in almost the same way. At the first sign of a storm, I shove 2 into her, then we assume her 'safe' position on the couch with me holding her firmly. For her and she is a 28ish kg GSD, it takes maybe 20-30 minutes to take effect and it seems to last for maybe 2-3 hours. She is only 3 and never had this type of fear but now any loud noise sets her off. I wish you both luck ((hugs)) -
Any New Meds To Help With Storm Phobias?

The article is so sad But enlightening for those that perhaps think the dog should just get over it. Oh I thought Stella was on Prozac too. Interesting to give Xanax as a twice daily med as the effects don't seem to last long...(with me or Molly) :) -

I read that article after I started giving Molly Xanax (which is Kalma) because if I don't get it into her enough she is so bad that I have thought she would have a heart attack from panting so damn fast. It is awful to see them in so much distress. Xanax (Kalma) works fairly quickly, it's just a matter of getting the dose right. I usually give 2 MG and the side effect is after it has worn off, Molly gets the munchies! And will try and bust into the laundry to get the cat food so I usually give her a small meal.
