  1. Staffie savages pet dog John Farmer | 27th October 2010 * * * A FAMILY who almost lost their prized pomeranian to a dog attack has called for construction workers to take greater responsibility for dogs they take to work. Supplied Advertisement A KEARNEYS Spring family who almost lost their prized pomeranian to a dog attack has called for construction workers to take greater responsibility for dogs they take to work. Jim and Sheryl Gusset’s 11-year-old pomeranian Willy was attacked this month by an unrestrained Staffordshire terrier owned by a sub-contractor working next door. Willy was left with a deep bite mark on his back that became infected and required surgery. Sore and bruised, the family’s beloved pet was lucky to have survived. “It’s still grim because it was such a huge operation,” Mr Gusset said. “Because (the wound) is so deep, if it gets infected the poor little bugger mightn’t make it.” The family now faces a $600 veterinarian bill that may escalate with the need for repeat visits. But Mr Gusset is not concerned by the costs. He simply wants the contractor to blame to apologise and for others to take more responsibility for dogs brought on to work sites. “I asked around and found out this is happening quite a lot,” Mr Gusset said. “Surely that should make builders more responsible when they bring their dogs to work.” A spokesman from the building company involved told The Chronicle it was a sub-contractor who had brought the dog on to the site. He said the person responsible had been told the practice was not acceptable. “There is no place for any animals on a building site,” the spokesman said. Toowoomba Regional Council is investigating the incident. To view to article go to: http://www.thechronicle.com.au/story/2010/...avages-pet-dog/
  2. Isn't there some doors that will only open with the dogs collar??(electronic thingy??) Then they get your dog to get the collar . The police woman who attended the second robbery advised against them. It would be easier to brake a window?
  3. Isn't there some doors that will only open with the dogs collar??(electronic thingy??)
  4. There are doggie doors big enough for Golden Retrievers - I know a large male squeezed through mine once. :D Most dogs don't do a full 12 hours overnight. IF you toilet your dog before bed at 10.00 and get up at 7.00, that's only 9 hours. I sleep less than that & go before I go to bed & when I wake up OT sorry .....I don't think anyone here would sleep 12 hrs in a row..
  5. I know - But I personally feel that no dog should have to wait that long.. I know you say they will if they have too, but they shouldn't have too do it inside. Anyways, I'm not trying to have a go at anyone.
  6. Have you asked your vet, what it could do to them, in the long run?? I think it's cruel.
  7. 12hrs having to hold it?? Poor dog :S might end up damaging her bladder/bowel having/being forced to hold it for so long I know I can't hold it for that long & I'm not a dog, I'm fully toilet trained! I think the issue is your expecting a little to much here & no way should she be forced waiting that long.
  8. Train him not too...Someone that might be afraid of dogs will one day get startled & might report it.
  9. For inside our unused double garage we either going to use the bed of shove it to the dump..rather use it :D
  10. Any of you using a old mattress with an old base as a dog bed & have your dog/s ever chewed them up? Asking as we have an old bed & thought of letting Baxter use it but hubby think he might chew it up..?? I know we can buy a pet bed but thought we could use that or would it attract fleas? etc?? Thanks :D
  11. Hi, I was checking the photo 5, can the confetti be replaced by flower petals? Cheers
  12. Only thing my boy is interested in chewing are his bones, do you give her some?
  13. Very good idea x2 good idea, IF the pup is otherwise getting lots of training/walking/play opportunities Totally agree Perse
  14. Its a possibility, have you got a neighbor near by that could let you know if they have seen something happening?
