  1. Obviously, your relative with the nasty Rottweiler has no control over his dog in the home. No dog of mine ever goes near the door when someone's there because that is MY door, MY house and I decide who comes and goes.
  2. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DANGEROUS BREED!!!! FFS get a life! You can't single out certain breeds because of what their purpose is, Rottweilers are working dogs, they need to be mentally and physically challenged EVERY day and when that doesn't happen, yes the dog will likely become aggressive. But it is not just in the breed that's a load of rubbish. That's like saying the child of two hardened criminals will grow up to be a hardened criminal. Obviously, dogs that bite are not balanced and happy dogs, SOMETHING is wrong for them to react that way. They don't just decide they're going to be nasty because they feel like it, if the owner (the Pack Leader!) obviously is not in control when a dog attacks. It doesn't matter what breed. Breed is just the outfit that the dog is wearing. They may be better at certain things then other breeds, but that does NOT define their temperament and character.
  3. I just read a part of the first link. I'm appalled at the RSPCA. They are meant to help animals, not slaughter them when they are not in need of ANY assistance least of all a bullet, or four in most cases! I will NEVER donate to the RSPCA ever again after reading such a horrible story.
  4. That's true. But teaching children how to act or react around dogs should start at home. I've taught my son that he can take our puppy's food away and put his hand into her food bowl while she's eating. By doing this while she's a puppy, by the time she's an adult, she won't snap at him if he approaches her eating. Luckily, I have a very timid son, he doesn't like most dogs.
  5. There's just one quote where you have a dig at Bull breeds and their owners.
  6. I did show you where you said all Bull breeds are dangerous. Throughout this entire post you repeat it. I've noticed you also repeat "it's not the deed it's the breed" even though you believe the opposite of that which PROVES MY POINT that you are against Bull breeds and think they're all dangerous. But I've got a saying for you. "Never argue with an idiot as you will never win, it only brings you down to their level." And on that note, I'll say no more Poodiful1
  7. Make up your mind Poodifu1. First you say it's Bull breeds, and you weren't specific about the owners you just said anyone who owned them was a d!ckhead. Stop dissing certain breeds of dog, they can all attack and if you can't control one you shouldn't have one at all it's as simple as that. But in saying that, a lot of kids tease dogs thinking it's funny then cry 'foul' when they get bit. Parents need to be more vigilant with supervision with ALL breeds of dogs, not just dogs ORIGINALLY bred for fighting, guarding and protecting. I want my dog to be protective of myself and my son, I hope that if anyone breaks into my home that my dog will attack and protect us if need be as I would do the same for her if she was in danger. My original post Shock horror, what a surprise. NOT!!! yet another bull something or rather being responsible for another attack. It's the deed not the breed Blah Blah Blah, so sick of hearing it. Sorry but the d!ckheads that own these sorts breeds have much to answer for. Who cares what sort of bull it was, some breeds are just dangerous, start and end of story. If you chose to breed a dangerous breed, you may be responsible for selling them to irresponsible d!ckheads. bb I never dissed any particular breed, the subtitle of this thread is after all Youngster Mauled In Dog Attack, So which breed is it???? You are dissing Bull breeds. "Who cares what sort of bull it was, some breeds are just dangerous, start and end of story." You are saying that all Bull breeds are dangerous and that whoever owns one is a d!ckhead. I found your post incredibly offensive because I own a Bull breed and always have owned them, ever since I was a child. And you say you're sick of hearing 'it's the deed not the breed'. Well I'm sick of simple minded people such as yourself who can't look beneath the breed. They are all dogs. Even if it's a Pit Bull, that's just the outfit the dog has on it does NOT determine their temperament and whether they are vicious or not.

  9. I totally agree with that Steve11. I've read all the posts and as usual, I'm annoyed that someone so ill informed and inexperienced with Bull breeds has such a strong opinion on how dangerous they are. It's frustrating trying to tell people to do their own research on Bull breeds. I'm not like Poodlefan1 and discriminate against an entire breed of dog because it truly is the owner of that dog that is at fault when a dog attacks a human. Dogs don't just 'snap' because of their breed. I have always been a fan of Staffordshire Bull Terriers and other Bull breeds, I've just purchased a show quality Amstaff puppy which my little boy enjoys playing with. I have only had experience with one little breed, that breed being a Maltese/ShitZu and I tell ya what, I could tap it on the head. My son can't go in his grandmother's backyard because the dog jumps at his hands and bites him all the time! My parents don't have the time to walk him so he is overexcited but also uncontrollable. Last time my mum bathed him she had blood dripping from her hand from all his 'little' nips, she doesn't have the heart to discipline him as he's so little, so we just stay away. I grew up with Staffies and was never bitten, growled at or snapped at. Bull breeds are so beautiful when raised well, they don't call Staffies nanny dogs for nothing!
  10. Lots of puppies get worms from their mother, so it isn't uncommon. This is why they need to be treated for worms. Poor little mite! Poor you for having to witness it! I completely agree with that, I've always treated all my dogs for worms. I was told that my pup would be wormed, vet checked and vaccinated etc etc. My sister's mutt just had puppies and I helped her look after them until they were sold and I wormed them every 2 weeks as well as the bitch. I'm just really angry with the breeder because obviously my pup was not wormed when I was told she would be. I felt so bad for her and I'm just so angry that she's had to suffer that. If I'd been told she hadn't been wormed when I picked her up I would have done it that same day.
  11. I highly suggest checking out Cesar Millan www.cesarsway.com his training techniques are so simple and they work so well! I've had my baby girl for 5 days and she already knows she's not allowed to jump on the couch or my 2yo son, I don't even have to bribe her and NO smacking. Worth a look
  12. Thanks everyone for all of your advice it is greatly appreciated. Turns out my gut instinct was right though. WORMS! I took her to the vet, costing me over $140 in fuel and costs, vet gave her some medicine to thicken up her stool and prescribed boiled chicken and rice for a few days (Thanks guys! You were definitely right there) and sent us on our way. I let her out to go to the toilet as soon as I get home, and low and behold she poops and a LOT of worms come out. I'm incredibly angry that my 8 week old puppy has so many worms because I was told she would be wormed and vet checked before being shipped to me. Thanks again for all of your advice, I think Topaz will be just fine now
  13. Thanks for the advice. I'll try not feeding her for 24 hours and see how she goes. I think she might have worms though I'm not sure, I've asked the breeder when she was wormed this morning but haven't heard back yet, she was dragging her bum this morning so I did worm her, I'm hoping it will help her
  14. Hi all I'm new to this and I was hoping that someone could please help me out. I bought an American Staffordshire Terrier from a registered breeder in South Australia. I picked my girl up from the Hobart Airport on Friday. She's had diarrheoa for the last 30 or so hours and I'm getting a bit worried, I haven't changed her diet, the breeder told me what to feed her and how often. It's only gotten worse and I'm a 2 hour drive from my vet so if it's not necessary I don't want to rush her down for nothing. She's eating, drinking and playing well she just has really bad diarrheoa. Any help would be appreciated thank you
