  1. Would depend if it is the council saying they are pitbulls, or whether they really are pitbulls. Councils say a lot of dogs are pitbulls, they aren't always right. And this has been the case with some in VCAT. The dogs were 'type' Pitbull, or you are saying that the Burwood RSPCA has not identified them correctly, or lied to the mayor, or can't read the registration papers.
  2. Bullcrap. With ANY dog comes great responsibility. Every breed should be responsibly owned, regardless of power. Maybe then we won't be seeing so many unsocialised, untrained, yappy, aggressive, fearful dogs of all breeds. Can't agree. In fact I think it's a cop out for those that own or support the retention of dangerous dogs to say they have no more responsibility than anyone else. There's standard dog owner responsibility, and then there's a few extra and extremely important things you need to do if you own a powerful dogs. I see the Banyule Council mayor has said they were 3 pit bulls. So those that attacked the media for incorrect reporting of it being a pitbull attack can apologise now, but it may also snow in hell.
  3. The owner will no doubt be charged, but will he do time? I can live with 3 to 5 for him. The fact that the dog was unregistered really peeves me off - it screams irresponsible.
  4. Hi, we live in Chelsea and love meeting new friends and pooches. My husband and I have a Cavalier King Charles. Let us know if you would all like to arrange a meet up.
  5. thanks everyone. I think it's a process of elimination. He is on advance and that seems to be ok but not 100% right for him. The problem is that most of the time he has soft or runny stools which are sometimes covered in mucus (sorry, to much detail?) We have tried him on chicken and rice and meat and rice as suggested by the vet but that makes him worse. He doesn't normally vomit but this week he wasn't able to keep his food down and was very miserable so we went back to the vet and of course he just put Kosmo back on antibiotics which is a short term solution. We haven't tried fish so maybe that is worth a try? I appreciate everyone's feedback.
  6. Hi, we have a 15 month old Cavalier King Charles who has suffered since a pup with a very sensitive stomach. We have tried him on different foods as recommended by our vet and it helps for a while but does not solve the problem completely. Has anyone had experience with this? Also, can anyone recommend a good vet in Melbourne South Eastern suburbs? Not entirely happy with our vets approach to his treatment.
  7. Actually, Satday morning is perfect. I can do most weekends except for the odd shifts here and there :D Yes. I'm looking forward to the Easter break... yay! Btw, how did you come up with the name Kairu?? Japanese yeah? It's cute :D Hi, I have a King Charles Cavalier who is always up for meeting new dogs. We are in South East Melb, let me know if you are interested in getting the pooches together :D KCC!! I LOVE cavaliers!!! Especially their ears A cavalier I know always has wet ears because she dunks 'em in the water everytime she tries to drink water!!! CUTE!!! How old is she/he???? Also, which days do you prefer??? Yes, Kosmo quite often has rice dangling from his ears after dinner!! Kosmo is a 16 month old Cav, very friendly and playful. He loves puppies, I think he feels confident around them compared to big dogs. Anytime on a Saturday is good for us. Maybe next time you meet with the others Kosmo and I could come along?? We are happy to travel a bit also. Nat

  9. Hi, I live in South East Melb also and have a Cavalier King Charles who loves to play and meet new dogs. Are you interested in meeting up?
  10. The 'standing up in the pillows' sleep position......
  11. All good advice here. I'll start the re training. Many thx to those that posted. I have been using 'Come' as my call. Do you think I should try something new with the re-training?
  12. So Arny is Buff, Sharon is in crazy good shape for a 40 year old (and even does a few crazy Kung Fu moves on Arnie), but the dog still won't come back. The little puppy is now 11 months (CKCS) and recall is not his strongest training point. Very good at other things, not so good at recall. The OH can't get him in from outside at all, whereas I resort to the shake of the 'treats tin' and naturally, in he trots (Dude thinks with his stomach). Would really like to get to a stage where you call him, and no matter where you are or distractions around him, he hears you and returns. So give me the basics, because reward/praise training isn't working when you don't have the treat tin. If he could give me the bird, he would (but will happily heel, sit, shake, stay). ILB
  13. Yeh, I see that now. I'd never noticed it. The reality is that if they wanted to exclude crosses, then they probably should have called it 'PureBredsonline.com.au'. Someone that has a cross puppy, which has just spent another sleepless night, aint going to take the time to check (plus they get great help here from some posters).
  14. Where does it say this is a pure bred forum? Edit - ahh, just saw it in the forum rules that no one reads. Good on her for asking for help.
  15. I used to attend a dog walking group at the Baxter Sports Grounds - think it's still on - It was an excellent group - all sizes of dog - all running off-lead and the owners walking and chatting together - cup of tea afterwards. My Cairn loved i! They used to have days for small dogs and also mixed groups. Was a nominal fee of a couple of dollars towards coffee and eats. There's a large dam there and some dogs go swimming as well - mine only paddled contact details were Guinevere's Social Walking Group (03) 9789 8475 Annie Thank you so much for the details, I will give them a call.
