  1. Have the xray first so you know what you are dealing with Sometimes sedation is all that is needed
  2. Depends on the wording of the schedule, whether it stipulates main or limited register or not. Sporting (not Working in Vic)Register is for dogs with papers from a "kindred body" recognised by the ANKC eg Working Kelpie Assoc, associate gundogs are not in this category, they never had papers by definition, and their recognition was to allow them to participate in RATG, not in RAFT trials Breed clubs through ignorance over the years have allowed associate dogs to compete in restricted events but it should not have happened, strictly speaking associates do not have a breed as such
  3. Official results will be placed on BC National website soon, think some are on BCN FB already, have heard some on some FBs are incorrect
  4. Such soft, gentle faces, melting eyes.....................calves, lambs and foals get me in all the time.............lucky to have them all around here
  5. And as a breeder you are obliged to provide the papers within 28 days or be in strife with Dogs Victoria..........but I don't know where you stand if dog is not paid for in full as in this case.......not sure who legally owns the dog..........written agreement would have been better. hindsight is a wonderful thing........hope you can reach an amicable agreement calmly, maybe accepting payment in instalments, but write it down and both sign it this time if buyer is amenable to this option
  6. Discussing this topic with long term breeder the other day, they had a different slant, more I think about it, the more sense it makes, her solution was to make limited registration of new puppies DEARER than main...........................still thinking about it but it..........................
  7. I'd also look at getting chilled semen (or the dog) sent to you instead...................I may be out of touch but don't believe dogs go as excess baggage on planes, thought they went as themselves and you paid the going rate...............not all flights take dogs and, to Tassie, finding a flight at a fare you are prepared to pay and taking the bitch, is an issue........especially as it will be at short notice for a mating, you can't plan for that months ahead................we once had a dog booking cancelled because a body would be on the flight!!
  8. Many of us place our pups on the LR to stop unwarranted registered breeding to occur with our lines. In QLD we do not have a "Not for Breeding" box or form unlike many other states. So we place pups on the LR to prevent this. Not always because they have a true breed fault. Take aside the early desexing argument. It really should be up to the breeder if they want to early desex or not - and that is not the point here. Although if this is adopted - many more breeders will be forced to early desexing to stop the rogue breeders of their breed from gaining access to their lines. (This also plays into the hand that some of the welfare groups wanted us to do back in before the Animal Management Act 2008 came into force - all pups are desexed prior to sale. Please - QLD members - write in to Dogs Queensland and voice your concern and objection to Dogs Queensland taking away a breeders right on what should or not be bred. I certainly do not want the puppy farmers or colour breeders getting hold of my dogs or lines as a result of such a move. We at least need a "not for breeding" option if we are now to place most of our stock on Main Register. DOGS Qld have always been against the limit register, for some screwy reason they think it affects show entries and numbers of puppies bred.....and registration income.............most of us think it encourages responsible breeding and selling of puppies......the option to upgrade is always there if the dog turns out OK. In the old days breeders simply did not register pets but now they have to register all puppies (and that is a good thing), breeders need some other option, like the limited register The registration form is supposed to be now standard nationally..............and that includes a not for breeding tick box................. what does current Qld form have?
  9. And what if some future government decides to ban all brachy breeds? Wedges have thin ends....................I am not currently worried about my breed but care deeply about some breeds that friends have and their right to enjoy owning healthy, happy well trained and socialised dogs..........................we are all just a pen stroke away..................
  10. Wonderful news, all the best to all at SLF's place
  11. There used to be a cut off point but I think they have changed it so that the club can advertise it's own heat policy and this seems to be working well eg Ballarat cancelled their show scheduled for today on Friday afternoon. Retrieving is not mentioned in the rules as far as I am aware - I for one will be keeping a close eye on the forecast but there will be plenty of time to make a decision I think. Each discipline has its own heat policy, cut off for Obedience, Rally. Tracking is 35 for example, it is only Conformation which allows clubs to make their own arrangements
  12. Anybody's a dog trainer these days, just like anybody is a photographer LOL
  13. Mine would even eat the bag if they got a chance................
  14. Can anyone recommended an adhesive tape which won't come unstuck in five minutes? Never had it before but this puppy is impossible, nothing I have ever used successfully sticks, despite cleaning the ear with alcohol or compound tincture of besoin which is supposed to enhance adhesion.........my husband did suggest a self-tapper or a pop rivet but I think that's bit extreme lol
  15. Don't rush things and stop visitors from overwhelming her, train the kids as well as the dog...............they can learn valuable life lessons that way..................eventually she will come around as far as she wants to ..............she is also in what can be a critical stage in her emotional development that all dogs go through around that age...............a formerly outgoing puppy can suddenly become wary of everyday things, let alone new ones...............don't sook her but don't force her..............she will be all you want soon, according to her nature..............they all have different personalities just like us...............and I hate a whole lot of strangers in my face!!!
  16. Well done to you and the breeder for doing the right thing by your little boy................all the best for the future.................breeding and owning dogs is not all beer and skittles, sadly
  17. I'd be reporting to council in person immediately before evidence, dog or owner disappears
  18. Many breeders don't feed puppy kibble at all. weaned onto adult - and with all due respect, ask the breeder to suggest a "Breeder's" vet you might see
  19. Have said goodbye many times over the years, I have learned that it's better a day too soon than a day too late, it's bloody hard but we have to do what is best for our friends..............and no matter how old they are, it's always too soon.............take care, we are all here for you
  20. Friend watched from assembly lounge as her Gr Ch dog's crate was pushed to straighten it up on the moving conveyor and toppled off on the other side Dog has never been quite the same..................he was being taken to an interstate performance event.............but she did get a new crate out of it......................big deal. Wouldn't be flying a dog in this weather.
