Care Packages For Our Troops Puppies
mackenzie11 replied to mackenzie11's topic in General Dog Discussion
i don't think it is so much that they are missing out on stuff as much as it is about people back here in aus thinking about them, a package at christmas for a soldier who has no one thinking of him/her at christmas would surely cheer some one up who is in such a god for saken place, some one taking a little time out of their life to think of someone else makes that someone else feel quite special - even if it is a complete stranger. thats how i feel about it anyway, so many other posters obviously feel the same way, would you not feel special to wake up one day and have someone deliver to you for no other reason than "because they could" a hamper full of stuff that you never asked for, stuff to spoil yourself with??? -

How about one of those little tinned plum puddings? only if it has a ring pull to open it as the troops would not have can openers, They have can openers, mack. It comes with the army knives they're given but good idea. I'm really excited about this - really great thread How is the labrador going with the returned soldier that a Doler hooked up? That was seriously really cute. never new that, as i read in other care packages links (mainly from USA that they dont' allow can openers and so any canned good need to be ring pull) wish i had known this when i bought my stuff as there was so much more i wanted to buy but did not as it was not a ring pull can, thanks for letting me know, i have done 3 boxes and hope to get some more done and will include more tin stuff -

How about one of those little tinned plum puddings? only if it has a ring pull to open it as the troops would not have can openers, i know you can get the cakes/puddings in the plastic tubs though, so maybe one of those, just don't know how they would go about cooking the pudding though, can you get puddings that you don't need to cook and can have cold? so maybe xmas cake would be better -
Care Packages For Our Troops Puppies

this is exactly what i thought, our troops are doing it so hard, and the things we take for granted each day they are missing out on, it is wonderful that so many people here are going to send something across, i have bought moist wipes, dental floss, anzac biscuits, lollies, lip balm, creamy rice & spoons, puzzles books, dog biscuits, tug toy, just to name some stuff, got enough for 3 boxes, loads of little snack stuff that does not weight much, this way they get heaps in the 2 kg weight limit, 1 EDD, 1 male and 1 female soldier thanks -

it does say not to send chocolate as it is too hot and they will melt, i know m&m's are not supposed to melt but it does get really hot over there and they may turn to mush, so unless you know specifically that they will be ok it is probly not best to send them, i wanted to send some chocolate as i thought it would be one luxury that they would not get, and some tim tams, choc coated lollies but with the heat was advised against it -

"the complete idiot's guide to Puppies" i used this book to train my puppy, it has a schedual in it so you can work out what to do and when to do it, plus numerous other things for learning to train a puppy good luck

for treats for my mollie i just use her dog food, i have tried to give her dog treats and find they upset her tummy, but she loves her dog food so is keen to do well to get a treat, for the play pen - i picked up a kiddy play pen from a $2 shop and it is made of metal, 8 sided, that you put together your self so you can make it as big or small as you want, it worked well and only cost $30 good luck

absolutly gorgeous, luv the puppies

How Do Your Dogs Wake Up In The Morning?
mackenzie11 replied to tlc's topic in General Dog Discussion
mollie wakes me up anywhere from 4.30 am for a potty break and then goes back to sleep till about 6am then she goes out the back with our older dog till 7am when she comes in for breakie, then back outside till 8.30am then comes inside and sleeps till lunch, i thought daylights savings would make her sleep in but it only lasted one morning, 7am she woke up, but she fixed that pretty quick and was back to the early starts the next morning -
Puppy Lost Her First Tooth - She Is Growin Up

poor little mite, i figure it must hurt also as she was not her bubbly self yesterday, so maybe koda did her a favor by knocking it out for her, but she has plenty more to go -
Puppy Lost Her First Tooth - She Is Growin Up
mackenzie11 replied to mackenzie11's topic in Puppy Chat
yeah i know, she is 19 weeks old so i knew it was going to happen soon, but with all the pets we have i have never noticed them leaving their teeth - which they obviously have. it is just a shame she is growing up sooooo fast -
tonite my mollie lost her first tooth, with a little help from koda - our other dog, they were playing and he headbutted her and then there was some blood and a missing tooth, rang the vet and he said as long as the blood has stopped then there is nothing to worry about, she now has a gap where her tiny tooth should be my baby is growing up

Help New Puppy, Dont Know What Im Doing, Advice Needed
mackenzie11 replied to angelnkids's topic in Puppy Chat
Most puppy preschools cater specifically for partially vaccinated pups. i never knew that, my puppy goes to obedience school, the closest puppy school is 1.5 hours away, and the obedience school needed her to be fully vaccinated, the obedience school does not have specific classes for puppies, any age starts the starters class and then after four weeks you go on to the advanced class sorry about that -

[quote Puppy pre school would be extremely helpful, for you and your pup. You will be able to ask lots of questions there. Find a reputable school and ask what there course outline is. Start this weekend if possible, the earlier the better!! he cant start puppy pre school till he has had all his shots, at 9 weeks he would not be fully vaccinated, my puppy had her last shots at 12 weeks and started school at 14 weeks i -
Help New Puppy, Dont Know What Im Doing, Advice Needed
mackenzie11 replied to angelnkids's topic in Puppy Chat
congrats on you new puppy i have a 17 week old cavalier x poodle and have gone through all you going through now, this is what i have learnt and done with my puppy FOOD tried optimum puppy food, hills science puppy food = runny poos now on Pro Plan = firm stools, soft coat = happy puppy TOILET TRAINING take out 15 min after each feed/drink take out straight away (pick up) from waking/playing take out every 1/2 hour then slowly increase to 1 hour, then 2 hours ect over a slow period of time Last feed 5pm & water 6pm, last take out for potty break at 10pm. then set alarm for 2 hour increments, then after a few days set for 2.15 hours, then 2.3 hours ect till he is sleeping though night I kept a folder with what time my puppy had food, naps, went out for potty breaks and what was done on each potty break, so that way i could see when she needed to go out most and when accidents where happening most( she only has had a couple of these, once she was consistent in doing the right thing, i increased the time between each potty break to start it was every 1/2 hour then every 3/4 hour then every 1hour ect, if you notice he is having accidents take him out more frequently. i also had the rooms in my house barricaded off so she could not go far, this gave her some freedom from the crate but not the freedom of the whole house and once she had had no accidents for a few weeks i opened up some more of the house BUT very very slowly, most important is to stick to a roster and have set times for food, play, naps and this will help enourmously in toilet training your puppy, i don't think i could have done it without my roster and folder a great book that i bought that i go my roster from is "Complete Idiots guide to puppies" awful name but great book, it has a roster in it and i followed it to the letter. you can buy it from angus and robertson book shop. If you can not watch him for some reason whilst your at home put him in his crate, don't let him wander about the house, make sure the crate is just big enough for him to turn around in and he should not soil it, too much room and he will go potty in there. Just make sure you take him out often and loads of praise use the same command each time and he will learn to go on command. hope this helps Just remember it is not easy and it will take some time BUT you will get there in the end. good luck with it -
where would i get one of these as this would work,
-
they way our house is set up this would not work, and don't have an outdoor run or $$$$$ to make one, an outdoor run is something we have thought about in the past but need lots of $$$$$$ to make it
