  1. I am thinking of putting Bindi in her first Obedience & Rally-O Trial, but am confused as to what the symbols mean on the gazette. Obviously Novice R0 is "RN". but what does RN (A&B) mean. Also what would I enter her in for Obedience as a Novice & what does she need to know to compete in it. Sorry to sound like a areal dim-wit, but I have to start somewhere :)

    Hi

I think there was a typo in one of the schedules published in which Rally O Novice A & B were offered. There is no A & B in Rally O Novice in Australia but I believe the Club in question is holding 3 Obedience & 3 Rally O Trials over the weekend so plenty of opportunities to achieve some qualifying scores.

  2. Hi all

I believe Queensland can lay claim to the first Rally O Excellent titled dog in Oz. The title was earned at Lockyer Valley Club this weekend and the team involved is Jay Lane with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel "Jasper." Jay is very modest and not very computer literate so I am posting this exciting result for all to see. Jay & Jasper deserve the highest accolades as they have put in a tremendous amount of work to achieve this honour and I just know they will be going flat out to attain RAE in the not too distant future.

  3. Hi

It never ceases to amaze me at the involved and convoluted answers one sees on this forum without first asking the 2 VITAL questions.

    1. Does my dog understand what is required?

    2. Is he/she physically capable of doing what is required?

In this case the most simple explanation would appear to be that the dog has an eyesight problem as suggested by Lablover and that all other remedies should be discounted until the dogs physical status is established.

Our dogs are very accomodating and generally wish to comply with our wishes. Why do we persist in looking for answers that are so complicated and that will only lead to confusion in the dog's mind, an inability for the dog to follow our requests and the resulting frustration on our part.

    KIS KEEP IT SIMPLE.

  4. Great to see the first 3 Rally O Novice Titled dogs in Queensland over the weekend.

Congratulations to Kath with her GSP, Judy with her Sheltie and Shirley with her Boxer believed to be the first Rally O Titled Boxer in Oz. Not a BC in sight???!!!!

Well done ladies all the hard work has paid off. Guess it's now a race to see who achieves RA first?

  5. Hi all

In Queensland a height measurement card for dogs competing in CDX & Utility are issued.

The same will apply in Rally Obedience where the dog's details are recorded, height recorded and signed off by 2 Senior Judges.

Expect similar to be the case in all States where Rally Obedience is a Titled Sport.

Fantastic Christmas to all Rally O afficionados and compete well, to a high level and successfully in 2012

  6. Just a quick note to say thank you to Dogs Queensland Rally O Working Party for putting on a GREAT seminar at Durack this afternoon & evening.

It was well attended & many many details about Rally O were discussed & I think we all thoroughly enjoyed putting our dogs & ourselves through the two courses that had been set up.

To all the members of the working party & to all the others that helped make it a great night I say a very sincere thankyou.

Can't wait for our first Rally trial next year, :)

    Gary & Xander

    Thanks Gary

    Much appreciated.

  7. Queensland you've done it again.

The Queensland Rally O Working Party held the best EVER Seminar this evening with even the weather being kind.

Had attendees from all over who travelled large distances to be part of this fantastic Seminar. They came from Mackay, Gladstone, Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Armidale (NSW), Grafton (NSW) to behold the delights of this new sport. What a truly great response from all involved, it just shows the dedication not only of this Working Party but also of all the Clubs involved. Of course the Brisbane Metropolitan Brisbane Clubs were well represented and we all eagerly await 2012.

Rock on 2012 when we can begin to EARN Rally Obedience Titles.

  8. Great News!!!!

The Rally Obedience Seminar to be run by the Queensland Rally O Working Party will incorporate any changes as per the ratified Rally Obedience Rules which now appear in the ANKC website. These Rules are effective as of 1st January 2012 so roll on the New Year.

  9. Hi

The Queensland Rally Obedience Working Party has a DVD ready to go with detailed descriptions and commentary for all Stations.

Included are what our Judges will be looking for and how to execute each Station correctly.

There is a Video rear view along with a Video side view of Teams at each Station and hints on how to minimise the loss of points, especially during the heeling between Stations. The teams on display really worked to a high degree of competence.

Of course any Video DVD of Rally Obedience would not be complete without a fun aspect and to this end the DVD will show some "bloopers" made during filming.

This DVD will not be made available until final ratification of the Rally Obedience Rules by the ANKC. Any final minor amendments to the DVD will be made as a result of changes to the Proposed Rally Obedience Rules that we have at hand at present.

  14. Another fantastic Rally O Workshop last Sunday held in Brisbane. Thanks to Logan Club for making their excellent facilities available.

The day started at 10.00am rather grimly with fairly heavy rain so the agenda was adjusted to suit and by 10.30am the skies has cleared and the practical aspect of the day proceeded very well with much learning by all involved. Pleased to say the rest of the day was fine and thoroughly enjoyed by all participants. Thanks to the Queensland Rally O Working Party for a great day's instruction.

  16. Hi Gary

Thanks for the feedback and that you enjoyed the courses.

Southside will be holding Rally Novice & Rally Advanced Ribbon Events during the lunch break at the Double Header Trials 17th September both with Laura Knauth as Judge.

There will also be Rally O demonstrations during the lunch break at the Ekka in the Dog Pavilion which should generate a lot of interest. Think these will be on 2nd Tuesday & Thursday but best to check.

Brisbane Club and Redlands Club will be holding Rally O Ribbon Events at their respective Trials in October & November with the possibility that Metro & Sunshine Coast will do the same later in the year so it's full steam ahead.

Break a leg as they say in both the Rally O Ribbon Events & the Obedience Trials

  17. For anyone in the Bundaberg area, The Obedience Club of Bundaberg is running 2 Rally O Ribbon Events on Saturday 16th July 2011 commencing 2.00pm.

Register on the day to compete as there will be 2 RN Courses running side-by-side to ensure a Great Time will be had by all.

Had a HUGE field last Saturday for the Rally O Ribbon Event with both RN & RA being run.

Same weekend, Grafton in NSW had a highly successful Rally O Ribbon Event which was enjoyed by Club Members and visitors alike.

Would be good to see the final draft of the proposed ANKC Rules.
