  1. That is NOT true, you have them mixed up with the Lost Dogs Home surely? They are not a pound anyway. Please don't make such comments without checking your facts as you can do a reputable organisation damage. Sorry guys, you are right. My apologies, please disregard my comment. It would be a good idea to go back and edit your post. Lort Smith do great work. They are very worthy of a donation.
  2. Good to hear Jessie is improving. That eye does look sore. That seems to be the going rate for a dental around here too. I paid nearly $900 for Bronson's recent dental, 3 tiny teeth removed, fluids, pain relief plus a check up one week later to ensure the sockets were ok and all was healing well. He didn't need a pre anaesthetic blood screen as he had recently had bloods done.
  3. Tonsilitis is not unheard of in dogs. A vet diagnosis and treatment is required. Take her today. She is in pain.
  4. My guess is the flea collar is the culprit. Some dogs are allergic to flea collars and break out in sores. Flea collars don't work anyway. I would ditch the flea collar straight away and hopefully the pimples and inflammation should clear up.
  5. Thank the Gods that Jess had you to love and care for her. Your good work with her is a credit to you Fly with the angels Jess, you are loved by your wonderful carer.
  6. People have the right to protest in their own way against this atrocity. I also will never again visit Indonesia.
  7. I totally agree with you. This dog should have been euthanised at birth.
  8. Thanks for the info Rascal. I was going to take my Aloveen shampoo next time my dogs went to the groomer. I won't be doing that now. I won't be using Aloveen again either. Who woulda thunk it.
  9. I use Aloveen shampoo and conditoner on my dogs and they scratch for the rest of the day after their bath. They rarely scratch at any other time. It never occurred to me that it could be the Aloveen because it's such a gentle shampoo. I'll use a different shampoo and conditioner for their next bath and see if they scratch.
  10. It's always been understood between the breeder and myself that the breeder selects the pup most suited to me and my lifestyle. Afterall I don't know the pup's personality and the breeder does. It's always worked out well for us.
  11. Funny stuff. That blatant promotion is all about a cross bred Cavalier/Bichon/Poodle but the picture, as it states later in the blurb, is a pic of a Cavalier x Poodle. The good old BYB Cavoodle. What happened to the Bichon?? LOL. You'd think if they're flogging a 3 breed cross they would show a pic of a 3 breed cross.
  12. I feed my Pancreatitis dog Big Dog BARF in the Kangaroo variety for her evening meal. For breakfast I feed Canidae Platinum dry food because it has a low fat content.
  13. I'm so sorry it was time for Baylee to leave you. What a beautiful girl. Godspeed Baylee
  14. I'm so very sorry it was time for Opal to leave you. She was a lucky girl to have found a home with you. I know how much you loved your girls. Run free with Tara now Opal. Godspeed Opal
  15. Thanks for the info Rappie. However my dog cannot have anything containing more than a 4% fat content. I tried her with a chicken dental chew that had a 6% fat content and that resulted in a Pancreatitis attack. I feed her Big Dog BARF in the Kangaroo variety.
  16. Try adding some virgin coconut oil to his diet. Even a fish oil capsule a day should help.
  17. I used to give Bronson Ester C and can't remember why I stopped. He has a wild salmon oil capsule and a Vit E capsule with his dinner. My girl, Dana, suffers from acute Pancreatitis so she gets only the Wagners Joint Formula.
  18. Like what you're doing, mine are 4 & 6 now so maybe it's time I start using something to what you are. What brand are you using? At the moment I give them probiotics & coconut oil in their evening meals. Use to buy the MSM on it's own but the taste (even masked) was yuck. The brand I use is Wagners MSM Joint Formula. I mix it with Jalna low fat yoghurt.
  19. My dogs have glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM powder in their food every day. I use as a supplement to hopefully ward off arthritis in their senior years. My dogs are 9 1/2yo and 8 1/2yo now with no joint problems. They've been on the supplement since they were pups. If giving the supplement with dry food it can be mixed with a spoonful of yoghurt.
  20. One of my Cavaliers suffers from acute Pancreatitis. Apart from one recent mistake on my part I ensure everything she eats has a fat content of no more than 4%. I've recently discovered anything over 4% will set off an attack. I feed BARF Kangaroo because it's low in fat. I also give her a daily supplement called Enzyplex but I'm unsure how effective it is. I use it as a precaution. As long as you feed a low fat content your little rescue dog should be ok. Will the vet who has been caring for her give you advice and feeding instructions? My girl had her first Pancreatitis attack 3 years ago and had no further attacks until 3 days ago. I foolishly gave her a dried chicken dental treat without checking the fat content. She was vomiting and hyperactive the next morning but settled by early afternoon. The poor girl was exhausted and slept for 3 hours. I fed her a light dinner of scrambled egg. She's been ok and back to normal since then. I subsequently found out the fat content of the chicken dental stick was 6% so it seems 4% is the limit for her.
  21. Both of my Cavaliers are fed Big Dog BARF. I recommend it.
  22. My vets say no food after 9pm but there is no restriction with water.
