  1. In my opinion the goat owner is a fool. Why would he even think of taking a goat to a dog park? I'm sure the goat would have been stressed with all those naturally inquisitive dogs and it put the dogs in danger of being impaled by those horns.
  2. Poor little mite, she does look badly injured. What breed of dog is she Toy Poodle Crazy? I hope she recovers without any problems.
  3. With my dog neither the vet nor I had considered a malignancy so the surgery went ahead. It was a few days later when the path results came in that he made the oncology appointment for me. I certainly understand your trepidation about transferring him to AEC for the night. He'll be very woozy and out of it from the GA so the trip will be a lot more stressful for you than for him but I'd feel the same as you do about the transfer. If you decide on Melb Specialist Centre I can vouch for the skill of the surgeons. My Cavalier had tricky spinal surgery done there which was 100% successful. He went from a dog who was paralysed from the shoulders down to a dog who is walking, running and playing normally. This was about 5 years ago. It was emergency surgery with no malignancy involved.
  4. I hope your little dog recovers. I guess this involved serious surgery. This is why I never go to leash free parks. They used to be a great place for exercising dogs but in the last few years they seem to be frequented by idiots who have no control over their untrained dogs. Who identified the breed of the attacking dog?
  5. When will people learn to keep their young children safe around dogs, especially neonate children? This is a terrible tragedy. Where were the parents when this happened.
  6. Thanks Steve, it's a relief to know that because I'm really flying blind as far as dosing goes. When I was treating my Rottweiler with these supplements I had no problems with the dose rate but with small dogs I have no idea what I'm doing and just hope I'm getting it right.
  7. Yep, understood Kayla. The surgeon your vet suggested is probably an excellent surgeon with a history of successful results but I too would want a team of qualified oncologists caring for my dog after surgery. I'm sure, if you wish, the recommended surgeon could perform the surgery and then refer you on to an oncology team following surgery. The surgeon would be well aware of the need to try for clear margins. I doubt there would be a waiting period for you to see an oncologist. They're well aware that time is of the essence when dealing with a malignancy. I got in to see the oncologist at Glen Waverley the following day after my dog's pathology results were in. My vet called them and made the appointment for me.
  8. See, you know a lot more than I do so I will certainly take your word for it and I'll continue to do what I'm doing. I imagine the same goes for the Transfer Factor. Thanks, Moosepup.
  9. I think dogs are far more than 'fur babies'. I'm of the opinion that they need to be respected for what they are...dogs. I love my dogs beyond words but they are not my fur babies, they are my smart, loyal, devoted dogs. People can call their dogs whatever they wish but I think 'fur babies' is selling them short.
  10. I give my dogs Transfer Factor and also Inner Health dairy free probiotics (they're refrigerated). I have 2 x 10kg (approx) dogs and am dividing each capsule of both products between the dogs. I wonder if I am under dosing them by givng them half a capsule. I would appreciate advice from those who are more knowledgeable than I am about the correct dose for my dogs.
  11. Kayla your vet will refer to you an oncologist. You'll need the referral to consult with an oncologist. When my dog was diagnosed with a malignancy we were referred to the Veterinary Specialist Centre in Glen Waverley, which was local for me. The oncology team there were wonderful and I credit the oncologist who was caring for Sophie (my Rottweiler) with assisting her (GrIV tumour) to live happily and pain free for another 12 months. Her initial prognosis was a month or two at most. The Veterinary Specialist Centre has the Glen Waverley branch and another branch in Essendon. Though your vet took narrow margins, where the margins clear? I know you're probably feeling overwhelmed with all you are dealing with. I hope for the best and ask that you please keep us posted as you travel this journey with your dog.
  12. I wouldn't want my dogs to suffer the stress of teeth cleaning without anaesthesia. Hell, I would prefer anaesthesia for my own dental work.
  13. So sorry about the unexpected path results Kayla When will Maxie have further surgery? I hope the sarcoma hasn't spread to surrounding tissue. Please keep us posted about your boy.
  14. I don't like the term 'fur baby' or 'fur kids' when referring to dogs. If anyone refers to my dogs as my fur babies I say "Oh, you mean my dogs"? Having said that I say "goodnight babies" to my two when they bed down for the night.
  15. The scumbags who do this to innocent animals and very dangerous individuals. I hope they are caught very quickly before they create more carnage.
  16. I am close to running out Oakway and I had a look on ebay for it but couldn't find one at a similar price to yours. Can you give me/us some more clues? If you do a search for kelp powder on eBay and then make sure the kelp is Ascophyllum Nodosum you will be on the right track.
  17. Very glad to hear he is improving and the antihistamines are making him feel more comfortable. Please keep us posted.
  18. If the lump is bothering him, take him back to the vet today.
  19. I'm so sorry for your loss Kirislin. Rest in Peace Kibah.
  20. No doubt the people who have bought Princess will think up a cute breed name for this little cross bred dog, thus we will have yet another 'new' breed that has 'hybrid vigour" That much sought after exclusive quality that is the realm only of cross bred dogs I only hope the people who bought this dog will seek training. It evidently has a few unwanted habits that may very well see it back in the shelter in due course.
  21. When the selling price of pups by registered breeders takes precedence over choosing carefully vetted, responsible owners that's when ethical dog breeding has gone to hell in a hand cart. Edited to delete errant comma.
  22. I would not pay $1000 for a cross bred pup. I doubt many people would. The RSPCA is aiming a bit high.
