Dogsoft seems to have gone bellyup. Thats a shame Are there any other similar programs out there?
-
Hi. Has anyone tried to down load the Entry form Australia program from Dog Soft recently? I tried the old link from previous DOL forums ( the one with lotto breaker in the address) and that didn't work, so I googled and found another site with the program from software.informers, but I being the techno head that I am (NOT ) cannot get it too download. I hit download and end up with a program called "gimp" ?? I wanted to send the link to download to a friend as I use the program, but downloaded it nearly 12 months ago from the original site. Can anyone help me out?

Well I bit the bullet today and made a makeshift muzzle out of a elastic bandage, and tried to trim my RR's nails....he still wiggled and whined and tried to mouth...i was firm and reprimanded him about mouthing, but that didn't stop the wiggling.....so i used the rest of the bandage as a blindfold.... and he was much less stressed about the whole situation. I talked to him the whole time and for most of it he lay on his side with only a small amount of complaining.... at least compared to the norm for nail trimming!! I still want to try and desensitise him to the process and now that they are trimmed I will spend the next few weeks trying to do just that. Thanks again to everyone who has shared their experiences and advice, it has been greatly appreciated :D ps i think i will invest in a dremmel Does anyone know anything about this product "AEOLUS Pet Nail Grinder with Shaft Dremel" from Oz grooming world? Is it any good?

Would love to catch up with you Elise. I think (?) we met at Narromine during August. I have A RR called Hunter.

I just got my numbers for this weekend. There are 29 Ridgies for the Saturday AM Show!!! Equal largest breed group with the Labs for the Am show. Man that is alot of ridgies for a non specialty show!! I'm so excited now!! :D

It sounds like I need to invest in a Dremel. :D Off to surf the web for bargains Thanks everyone for your support with "our" issue with nail trimming. Erny, I totally agree with your description of a Ridgies nails. Tough like tree trunks pretty much covers it

But it's not the dogs choice, it's yours as an owner and the dogs need to comply with it. It's part of everyday handling and routine care of the dog. I'm amazed, although I shouldn;t be, at the number of owners who allow their dogs to get away with such things. Brushing and nail clipping are the simplist of tasks, yet many dogs seem to rule the roost when it comes to them. Add medicating to the list too! Thanks everyone. There are some great ideas being presented and I will read through them all and try some of the different techniques. Medicating and grooming are non issues with him thank goodness. He was vaccinated 3 weeks ago and he just sat through the process... the proheart needle, the other needle and the Kennel cough serum up the nose... didn't move a muscle He is my third Ridgie, and I have never had the same problems with the previous 2. They didn't like, but they accepted it.

Hi. I have a 16 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback male that I am struggling with when it comes to trimming his nails. He hates it. When I try and trim his nails he stresses. He has a high pitch cry, and mouths. His mouthing starts of gentle but gets harder as I try to persist with the trimming. He has never broken skin, and stops when I admonish him for it, but starts mouthing again as soon as I start to try to trim again. Tonight the "process" when on for at least 30-40 min resulting in a tiny bit of 1 dew claw trimmed and my left hand well mouthed!! I have tried sitting with him and just playing with his paws and nails, and treating him when he doesn't mouth, and he will tolerate this to an extent. But as soon as I try to actually trim... the crying and mouthing starts again. This has been going on since he was a pup, but he is getting worse the older he gets. I have thought about muzzling him, but I don't like the idea as I think it would make him more stressed by the experience. We live on a farm so there is no bitumen near bye to walk him on to wear them down, and no concrete and very few paved areas in the yard. Any advice on how I can trim my poor boys nails and not stress him out would be greatly appreciated.

I did five on the shows in the Condo Circuit, and we had a fantastic time! My family lives in the central west (Narromine and Condo) so it was a great excuse to take time off work and catch up with them and throw in a few shows I would quite happily do it again.....if my OH and DD's let me!! lol

I loved this movie....and I had a good cry while watching it!! My husband has lived in mining camps and he thought it was quite "real" in the way the types of characters were portrayed in the film. For an Australian movie I thought it was excellent!! I like most movies with dogs in it. Turner and Hooch would have to be a favourite though!! :D

I had the dogs at the vets in Gloucester yesterday and they said they had seen multiple cases of paralysis ticks already!! They were happy to see that my dogs had tick collars on. We haven't been in our current house for 12 months yet, so the collars are on as a "just in case", as we are not sure if there are ticks in the yard or not!!

Very cute!!

I collect my mail in Gloucester, and the number arrived today, so hopefully every bodies will arrive soon

I have entered the 2 shows on Saturday at Taree this weekend. Today I got 1 number instead of the normal 2. Are they only having one number for the whole weekend, or am I missing a number? And does any one know the breed break down for the shows, because none were included with my numbers? Thank you

My first dog as an adult was a pound pup.(15 years ago) A blue cattle dog crossed with who knows what. :D I adored him, he adored me and my BF, unfortunately he hated, (and hate is not a strong term for how he acted!! )every other human he came across, including my other 2 house mates. Without fail he would bark at them every time they came through the gate. He came into our lives at 6 weeks of age, (born at the pound) so he had known them since the start. I got them to feed him but nothing worked. But the weird thing with him was that he loved all other dogs. It was not unusual to come home to find strange dogs in the backyard (they had jumped in to play with him, he couldn't jump the fence, and it was always the same dogs ), and he would always make friends when out walking. His best mate was a bull terrier from a couple of blocks away called Maggie. I lost count of the times I took her home to her owner after she joined us on a walk and play in the park!! He was a dog that changed my mind about the nature versus nurture debate, when it comes to canine aggression. He also taught me alot about dog psychology.....because I was very naive and innocent when I picked him up from the pound!! As a first dog he definitely a challenge, mainly because of temperament. He was easy enough to train in basic obedience, and would go to his bed on command.... all the while growling and carrying on at whoever had arrived. However this experience was enough to turn me off pound pups, and ever since ( Jock unfortunately or fortunately whichever way you look at it had a short life) I have had Rhodesian Ridgebacks, with very carefully researched pedigrees...temperament!! :D I love this breed and I doubt I would have anything else

What a coincidence. I watched Best in Show for the first time since starting to show myself!! I found myself getting quite annoyed at the Weim's owners!!

I know your pain.... Hunter (my rr) only "eats" my shoes....everyone else in the family can leave theirs out on the floor and not get chewed... but not me. I guess I'm just Lucky!! LOL
