  1. Thanks for all the replies, it was fun reading everyone's thoughts on the subject. Today I put a deposit on a black and tan Cavalier puppy. Yup, I chose a boy!!
  2. Hey everyone, I know this is an odd question, but has anyone else come across strong dislike towards MALE puppies? I'm currently searching for a puppy and when I've mentioned to my acquaintances (coworkers, etc) that I want a boy, it's been met with a lot of EWW. When I question why, it's been simply because they have a penis. Now don't get me wrong, it's perfectly FINE to want a female over a male. What I don't understand is the hate towards male puppies for no other reason than their genitalia. Some breeders even price males hundreds of dollars cheaper than their sisters because they're so unpopular (maybe there's another reason?). Also I'm talking about pet homes where they will be desexed. I hope this topic isn't too weird, but I'll be interested to read the replies :)
  3. Thanks for your reply, it was very helpful. Now I'm next in line for a black & tan little boy. Fingers crossed :)
  4. Hi everyone, I'm looking for a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy to add to my family. I look at the DOL puppy listings everyday but so far no luck, so I thought I would try here. I already have a gorgeous 8-year-old Cocker Spaniel, who is a very friendly and well-behaved girl. I live in the Yarra Valley and am happy to travel up to 2 hours. I'm not set on a gender, but I'm leaning towards a boy. Personality is the most important thing to me (after health), so a breeder willing to help match me with a suitable puppy would be great. If anyone knows of any litters on the ground or upcoming (they say sometimes word of mouth is the best!) please feel free to reply and/or PM me. Thank you!
  5. You've got to be joking I can't believe anyone would listen to him!
  6. Good luck Levi! May you make a wonderful guide dog
  7. Dogue de Bordeaux: Same with our Dogue de Bordeaux! They have got to be one of the most gentle dogs I have ever known. I have had babies climb all over our girl and she doesn't mind a bit. Yet people are terrified of her. I have had people scream when she walks past, though they don't mind a bit when the neighbours Golden Retreiver runs at them full pelt. This always intrigues me, because if you want a dog to freak out and attack, wouldn't moving quickly and screaming do just that lol They do drool though...people are spot on there. Cocker Spaniels: Are NOT dumb dogs. Many people warned us against getting our cocker, but she is the smartest little thing I know. She sings on demand, plays dead, rolls over, bows weaves through your legs and knows words such as bunny and pussy cat, mouse, bird - and she didn't even need any formal training to learn all that, she just picked it up...sometimes only a few tries and she will have picked up a new trick. Not dumb at all. I have a Cocker Spaniel and she is definitely on the dim side However I think Penny is in the minority.
  8. A walk for sure. Penny always hoards her bones instead of eating them
  9. So sad Knowing it was your fault would be devastating.
