A german shepherd transformed into a kelpie hehe comes in most kelpie colours best i could find for kelpie lovers hehe
-
No kelpies might have to customise another breed somehow ahha
-
i would start with the dog on your left hand side in a heel position (whether your pup is in a sit, down or stand doesn't really matter) and a nice treat in your right hand between your fingers. pass your right hand over your body place your palm facing your dog's nose. hold your hand(be conscience not to move your hand and only your body) there while your pup trys to lick at your treat he should be too distracted to watch your body move and do a rocking motion back and forth. Do that multiple time then advance into taking a step nfront of your pups face while keeping your palm facing your pup as a stay signal.. you could be moving too fast for your pup aswell as 10 weeks is still very young.

They have everything them need in terms of health requirements atm and bedding its just food that was the problem but that is all figured out thank you ;) still not sure how old they are a bit clueless trying to google pictures and weights of breeds so they seem around 5-6 weeks if google pics are anything to go by . They are growing quick! still crying when put into the back area while they are getting use to being seporated from one another a few times a day. While also trying to get them a bit more indepenant with myself and other people but are into the exploring stage we have a paved area away from the bigger dogs they run around chew plants and responding to me and following me around and learning sit. So thanks for your help they are doing fine and are slowing being introduce to one of my dogs.

If the chooks are going to stay in a caged pen you won't have to worry about them being killed. Your dogs should figure out it's not possible and stop once they can't get to them. Train them to ignore the chooks or correct them when barking. When i go to the property with my two dogs they ignore the free running chooks but won't leave the bird cages alone we also have pet rats at first one dog would stalk the rats and sit there dribbling watching them run i would take the rats out of the cage and nothing didn't try to attempt to kill or bite i think they would probably be more intregued then anything.

Rotti's are my fav breed to even though i have kelpies hehe i have seen two whippets living in a town house when i go for morning walks they seem very happy with their coats on and sometimes on the veranda with their mum. depending on if you want a low maintenance dog ? for grooming etc i like the french bulldogs and boston terriers they seem very cute small enough for children and their friends and always seem to have a friendly personality from those that i have met but not sure how they would go in a town house?

dally's do seem to be the best, there was a vet nurse i knew of that smoked and her dog hated it so much she would bear her teeth and then she cued it a few times but i wouldn't be using smoke in a dogs face to cue it. it was cute though.

The tick collars do work but since they have many harsh chemicals i wouldn't be letter your dog sleep with you as it has a long term effect on humans apparently. The liquid flea treatments affects the nervous system of the dog most products along that line maybe thats why she shakes? As soon as my dog's see me with the tube and i click it they bolt.

Well my model wasn't up for photo's this morning as her hair wasn't combed and she wanted to sleep in so i cut her from the shoot! Macca will be my new model for 52 weeks # 1/52 i have made a tumblr account much easier to use where i will keep a diary and for anyone to look at http://catsphotoblog.tumblr.com/ i think you may have to copy and paste sorry will update when i learn more about it

if the pup continues to bite/snap at the vet they usually muzzel them here. Sometime you can have the worlds best trained dog but at the vets they can change dramatically i have never had a problem at the vets with my two as they did puppy pre school there and had people touching them on the metal benches etc and interaction and treats so quite lucky. your pup obviously hasn't had a good experience at the vets and associates it with bad things. try to practice your own examinations at home(touching body parts, paws, teeth checks, ears etc) or at other peoples house with different people touching him but using treats as rewards so he feels that its not all bad when people touch him everywhere. good luck

depending on the ages of the two dogs you are importing it is quite easy to train both dogs on the same day at the same club. i do this, as well as some times do allocate one dog for training one day and bring the other next time during the week if they need extra training on certain things like stays, jumping and retrieving

Hi guys, I just read this whole thread and really would love to learn a bit more about this 52 weeks as i am very interested in starting and uploading pics of my girl Brandy? After reading a bit on a photographers blog. Starting from now or tomorrow, every week for one dog you take a picture and upload it here (not a fan of flickr either sorry) is that basically it ?? I'm not a pro photographer either but my camera takes some mean pictures (sometimes) ahah hopefully someone will guide me to the right idea. ta

To me the noise or word is determind by the behaviour i want from them or a behaviour i want them to stop when i want their attention during training (obedience) "ready" is normally the cue to work, and when they are near me and they aren't behaving or playing the selective hearing game i normally just click my fingers (gets them looking) then say "HEY" or a command like sit if i want further focus.. It works for me and my gang

yes definately don't use comfortis, if you know the fleas are coming from outside, investigate where about you think they would be breeding eg dirt, under the house, sand warm dark damp areas mostly etc see if you can block off those's areas in the mean time until money comes to avoid your dogs getting millions of fleas the better off you and your dogs are. it is pretty hard to eliminate all fleas in a yard, but you can limit them eventually concreting areas and usings sprays etc if they have bedding out side spray flea troll or something similar on the bedding and the dogs body and kennels. using a capstar tablet if suitable, every second day if it allows you and is completely save to do so. that way when your dogs come inside they are clean from adult fleas and they cannot breed and lay eggs on your dogs. and that way you won't have fleas breeding in your home. or find a product that kills fleas and their cycle so your dogs are flea free and not transporting them inside or from outside. good luck

can't help with the aggression but have heard many times that lots of dogs that run/bolt out of the door is because of not enough exercise physically or mentally for the individual they jump at the chance of freedom so do a zoomie out the door to run a muck where as one that is quite content dog / pup with regular exercise for it's needs is happy not to run as soon as the door opens. I would be taking your pup for a good walk to tire him out then start on some training (he may be well behaved in areas or your own home and on lead but with distractions of the outside world it's a different thing )by leaving a long lead on the dog(incase he bolts) and do lots of repetition training around the door; opening and shutting the door while he is close to you and work on a stay, wait or stop command and then start on distance, distractions and time once the dog understands the command 100%. but not all at once its a gradual thing:P using the food as a instant reward, then delayed reward then intimitent reward whether food or treats. hope that helps at all. whether you take it or leave it good luck

ill scrap the weet bix then, we don't get minced chicken carcass around here or even the carcass's unless i drive a fair way which i don't have time for so mince will have to do while they are in care with me. thanks anyway
-
thank you for your suggestions they all sound good. its fairy cold here atm so they have the water bottle and ontop they have bankets build up like a nest to suggle into. and i will try that formula Bokezu, thanks again
-
no, not just milk :p they got some chopped beef last night then milk before bed they settled in and went to sleep all night until 6:30 when i got up. i have two tins already of the powder that i make up so i don't want to spend anymore $ we use hot/warm water to add to the powder so that seem to make them drink it. When they get to the kibble it would be soaked for them as mine got that when they wee pups. maybe even a weetbix heard that doesn't hurt thanks again. A schedual sounds good i will right one up so i will stick to it.

HI everyone, at the moment i am looking after/fostering two young 4-5 week approx maybe younger cattle pups probably until their ready for a new adoptive home. Both female pups will cry constantly (got them yesterday after being separated from rest of litter ) unless eating or sleepng trouble is they haven't relaxed i will cuddle them sometimes in hope they might settle against my body but don't stop moving around towards my face and crying, and when playing one is bigger and quite ruff so they are a bit of 24/7 supervision needed poor things really need their mum and my girl does understand the whole mothering thing. I never got my own two dogs that early and while they have little or no bladder control or understanding at this early stage i'm a bit unsure in the pattern of how many meals per day and what exactly they should be eating and toilet sessions they sould have??? i have put a hot water bottle in there pen so they stay warm and they usually go for the normal breaks after waking up and after eating and any where inbetween when i see them running aroud sniffing. For those who have had litters what should i expect and for those with cattle dogs any signs or behavours i should watch out for when they grow or any critical stages i should know about? someone mentioned 4 smaller meals per day? should they eat together even tho the biger one is a bit of a hog and when can they be brought off di-vetelact (mothers milk replacement) and what type of foods(solids) are appropriate to feed the babies
-
Thanks, haven't tried to feed them while holding might try that today, should that aim to quiet them and associate me with good things?. while they are in the pen, one (bigger girl) crys more and the (smaller) other one less and will go nap, but when i take them out to the small paved area out the back closed off from the other dogs the bigger one(bigger) goes and explores and stops crying and the little one just wants to be on my lap constantly whimpering while i sit with them. so the environment deffinately says something poor pup just want their mum. ok four small meals they are on di- vetelact every morning and night as of yesterday night and this morning as they try to suckle my fingers as im still not sure on there age. Would>> solids ..raw meat finely chopped with some steamed veggies or they get some softened kibble salmon based with fish added be ok during the day x2 then milk moring at night ? Also when they eat i feed them together but the biger one is a bit of a hog and i feel the little one needs more, but not sure if i should be interupting them ?
