  1. ok so here i go weeks 1 to 3 are all going to be small so it is't confusing. 1. muzzle time 2. water obsession 3. willow tree week 4/52 (today's) below
  2. SHITTT! just realised i have been posting in the wrong 52 weeks area @@$@%#&$&& damnit ! i only have the one dog i have been photographing and have been posting in the other 52 week thread gahh! i feel so stupid and now i don't know whether or not to re-post here or just keep posting on the other one? suggestions please
  3. # 4/52 "You talking to me?" "Says the retard."
  4. again my dog isnt a dane hehe but she cant bark on cue 1.5 hrs from sydney
  5. make a list of PROS and CONS and certain breeds of dog you like.. maybe that might help us help you? A big dog will take a lot of money for a 18 year old, and say good buy to some of your social life.
  6. i have never seen one well behaved, obedient or trained beagle in my area or surrounding suburbs it always leads me to think is it the dog or the handler :D . Hats off to those with well behaved and trained dogs. Much like any breed with great working capabilities they are not for the inexperenced handler!! in the wrong hands it is one big mess waiting to happen. This is why so many dogs end up dumped.
  7. i wish those breeders aka BYB would read this i love when i read the saturday paper the first thing i go to is the classifieds to see how many back yard breeders there are. Bloody are half of them claim they have english staffies and the people who buy them gah! god help us i get the same frustration with the whole kelpie name... there are so many different viarieties now drives me nuts sometimes. where did the standard australian kelpie go!
  8. wholey hell poor dog, not even close to that ! No home medicating here not with pups, thought there might be a oitment or something natural that might settle it down, it seems that it is gowing down just need to keep my careful eye on her.
  9. this area is paved, it has a small garden and i thought maybe some pant could have given a bad reactin to her but the other pup is fine.. green ants is the only thing i can think of that could give a bad reaction or a spider.. "sallyntex" sounds similar.. thanks for your imput an anti-histamine does sound like an appropriate thing to do if it gets worse. i just don't want to have to give the pup something/chemical if it doesn't need it.
  10. there is something bothering him if he is still shaking his head, sometimes water can do that to mine, or dirt particules. i will clean my boys ear out and wipe it clean then massage it and check his ear again. hoping after they flush his ear out he will stop cute avatar (dog) by the way :D
  11. I volunteer because no one else does and the club needs people to help out (fair amount of people are lazy) it isn't that hard at obedience and doesn't involve that much to steward. Agility is a bit of a pain because it goes for a long time. It would be more benificial to get a heap of people to do a hour or two each helping that way people are more inclined to do it for there club and not have to spend hours of there time. and to run a small induction on how the everything works at trails/shows so they don't just turn up with no clue which can delay big time a week or two before hand that way they no what to expect and exactly what to do when they arrive.
  12. My two foster pups have a seporate area to the main yard and pool area all for safety but noticed on the smaller pup on her coat bumps all over her reminds me of hives in way. My immediate thought was either food allergy or contact allergy but after talking to a few "dog people" we have narrowed it down to possible a bite and a reaction from it. I have noticed a few spiders around ? and being a typical pup i wonder if this reaction on this one puppy would be from it. they will be going to the vets next week and rescue do not need another vet bill unless it is serious and so far it isn't fingers crossed. I bathed her in quitich and then aloveen the next day hoping it might settle her skin it has gone down but i am still able to feel it when i pinch the skin and run my finger down it. There is no swelling all over or in any particualr area, or rash, just very small lumps spead out under her coat and a few small pus looking bites nothing horrible on her belly. Over a few days it has gotten more noticeable to the eye, she is happy to eat and drink no more then normal. is there something like an anti-inflamitory to give to puppies that may settle it down if so what type of dose would i be looking at, like when you would get a reaction to something. the reason i don't think it is food is because the other pup has had 0 bumps, irritation or swelling or discomfort anywhere. any suggestions or thoughts?? any help appriciated *edited for some spelling
  13. I wouldn't expect any judge to have to go and learn another language because a few people wanted to use those commands if you can speak english why not use the english language in the ring it's not like your dog will care haha??? In your own home and at training feel free but i don't see the need in the ring. For all a judge knows people could right it down explaining on a piece of paper and lie about it so easily. i voted no too.
  14. Such individuals are usually Collies, Shetland sheepdogs, Australian shepherds, and Old English sheepdogs, members of these sensitive breeds may be prone to side effects.
  15. Would love to read the whole story if someone has it???, this is happening all too often with kids being bitten even by family pets all too common, i think some parents need to be educated as well as children no matter the age. :D i must admit i tie my dogs up when i walk down to the shops but, It is less then a few minutes unsupervised to get a loaf or bread or drop off a dvd as locate right outside. they are tied up away from any people/children entering the shops or walking past so out of range from stupid kids. i wouldn't tie any dog up if it wasn't friendly so many risks involved.
  16. kidding! learn something new everyday sh.t i don't think pups would even have balls to chop off at that age ! Some pups are born with testicles descended!
  17. Contact your rescue asap explain to them your story also ring your foster carer as every question imaginable about his behaviour. If he isn't the dog you wanted, i would send him back to the rescue after your trial as you won't be happy. Find a more suitable breed or temperment in another rescue dog. And unless you are going to make sure you can get proffessional help i wouldn't accept the dog as it will be 14 years or more of owning this dog and his behaviour. You may be already attached but it not fair to you or the dog if he is always going to be a bit hairy fairy about other dogs and you cannot even walk being little (i don't mean to sound rude at all) if he is comming from a rescue group they should take him back no problems not saying he can't be rehabilitated it will take a lot of time money and patience.
  18. sometimes i call a dog like that stubbon hahah.. i think it may be a trust issue aswell
  19. Athletes foot fungal cream just from a chemist is good for foot bacteria on/in a dogs paw that has turned yucky from being constantly wet (from dog licking it) safe to use, Similar to betadine, quitich (medicated dog shampoo) can be used on fungal/bacterial areas on the dogs skin providing it isn't an open wound and for treating hot spots aswell can be left on for a few days re-applied or washed off after 5-10 minutes. i have also used and keep a c-zine a cheaper version or zertec does the same thing and maybe lower dosage for any swelling or allergic reations if i know what caused them eg; bee sting or flea bites for one of my dogs who is allergic to both . these have been handy and available over the counter.
  20. my girl is scared shitless of newfy's she has been jumped on a few times by different newfy's and has never ever recovered. I'm not one to baby any of my dogs either as she was off lead and had to handle it on her own shes never been then same around bigger dogs. hoping your dogs are nice though haha. Sometimes the same breeds think a like and get along well as they have similar insticts ..i would be doing some research on another dog similar to what your dog bonds well with. A show kelpie may be a little more low maintanence and quieter "don't take my word ". everytime i go somewhere like a park or beach my dog (female working kelpie) always locates a fast moving breed and 90% another kelpie or border collie she is very independant. always makes me think of " great minds think alike" and my other kelpie loves a poodle the only dog he genuinely likes and he hates dogs in his face or bubble and cav's are another breed who are typically quite shy and submissive around other bigger dogs (so sweet) hope you find a breed!! something smaller then your male that is female is my best advise i can give you from my knowledge of a similar breed and temperment
  21. i don't think pups would even have balls to chop off at that age ! ............... The rescue groups i know of get there dogs done around 12 ish weeks or as soon as the vet knows the balls have dropped and a bit later for females i think mainly do to the uneducated people, trust me there are many idiots who don't desex there pet or keep them secure and for that reason there are soo many dogs peggas and the reason why there are rescue groups with trillions of puppies from people who just don't desex there pet. My opinion, if you are not looking to breed/show etc and when the dog is an appropriate age i wouldn't want to risk them getting cancer for the sake off ones opinion i would just desex the dog. Our first dog was desexed after being on heat for the first time can't remember what age that was, and our second dog was desexed as soon as he had balls as an attempt to reduce his aggression. He has long legs and looks tall but looks just like any other kelpie of the same background :S Everyone has there reasons and opinions you just need to find what is going to work for you dog and your self.
  22. One of my dogs isn't overly fussed on kibble either and its not cheap!!! she likes the raw stuff a lot more then kibble but it goes soo quick with four dogs having to make and store your own. Rather then used Can food try add some veggies, cottage cheese, sardines, salmon or something more natural that way its good for the dog and the dog will eat the kibble and hopefully take your worries away. it doesnt have to be a lot.. just enough to entice the dog to eat its meal and coat some of the kibble. if i had the money i would feed raw no questions but benifit of dry kibble is when it comes to training they are more motivated to work well with my two it works haha good luck * edited to add, they are motivated by meat*
  23. damn i got a parking fine with the wrong type of car printed on it :D i might just wait for my final notice! i guess thats when a collar and tag pay off
  24. ebay is very cheap as long as the brand is a furminator there are knock off brands but some can be very dodgy, if you go to the shops you will be looking at $75-85 for a medium width brush. it also doesn't hurt to buy a slicker brush or a flea comb to brush your dog daily and massage the hair folicoils sorry for my bad spelling :D as the furminatior isn't a every day brush too much use can leave your dog's coat red on the skin if you use it too much it can start pulling the top coat out if used to hard aswell.
