thanks for your response guys so no one has any link about adapting to the city ?? This makes me think of a similar story with kenny the kelpie who i fostered for AWDRI he has obviously been beated around his hind quarters from men before he was rescued and was very tmid and a bit flighty but two weeks went by and he came out of his shell nearly 100% there was a lot of work involved on my behalf but he was just out of his comfort zone i thought what had i gotten myself into the first couple of days but he came around nicely and regret not keeping him for myself (he is the first dog in my sig loved him to bits).

glad she finally can settle in somewhere shame they clipped her coat, but now you have to change your siggie hehe
-
she is about 10-12 weeks i think but who knows ??

How long does she bark for in the morning and where is she when she does? about what time? what do you do when she barks? take her to the toilet, walk her, feed her or get up play with her? you may have gotten her into a bad pattern for attention or she may be letting you know if she needs to toilet. That is deffinately your wake up call for something food, walk, play time.. try taking her for a short walk before bed or a longer afternoon walk/run that way she might be still sleepy and stay in bed longer or give her a bone in the morning for breakie if you feel the need to go back to bed and you know she barks for attention.
-
not too bad for being found in a bird avery in this heat wave.. bastards, she will be looking for a home soon when she becomes more healthy.
-
mutt is a bit harsh for this face heinz57 and cross mix sounds a little nicer haha i deffinately see koolie in her, just her behaviour alerts me to an actieve breed. anyway her name is Tess and she is incredibly smart
-
my ideas; my main thought was border collie cross staffy ? * short coated border collie (blue eye and over all look) * staffy (brindle and belly) * whippet (brindle, long face and legs) * koolie (blue eye / pigmented nose)) * cattle ? ... your ideas?
-
i wouldn't be worried unless your worried, just above the nose if the skin is white/pink pigmented i would suggest some type of zinc, other wise i wouldn't worry unless they are out for a long time and it is bothering you.

* make sure your dogs are not able to get through the fencing at all. * only have them in the pool area supervised then you will have nothing to worry about. * teach them where the stairs are, being in a new pool they can't see under water and have slim chance of knowing where they are without some direction/help so teach them. * one they start to get the idea test them with you in and out of the pool rewarding with a game/food just as they step out. our pool has been unfence for a while due to renovations but the dogs go no where near the pool unless we invite them in and they have learn't where the steps are. we taught them by putting them a 1m away from the stairs let them swim to get out lots of praise on there exit. Then 2 m away from the stairs etc etc. eventually we got them in the pool the furthest away from the stairs and they swam straight to the stairs so they knew by us teaching them.

it is a different dog then the one you are talking about. she is much better today everyone thanks for you concern.

I agree. I would take her to the vet. If it is heat stroke it's not something to take a wait and see approach with. Heat stroke kills. I'm not in a tick area so know nothing about them. Just one question. Why did you feed your dog warm raw meat on such a stinking hot day? the meat was given half frozen since it was really hot not warm i would have to be stupid to do that haha, and she took a while to eat it so it had mostly thawed out. i gave her a cold bath touched every inch of her with no ticks and she seemed a more energetic when it came to the towel dry. Also she is a lot more responsive lifting her head up competely and her ears aswell and turning her body and not lying flat on her side. it sounds to be heat stroke/dehydration to me. she will be take to the vets tomorrow if she hasn't recovered to her normal state but i already see signs of improvement, like i said before is she was affect by a tick she wouldn't be able to get onto the lounge she is a tuff cookie.
-
i have checked her over for tick/s can't see any and we have never had any dogs get one in the 5 years we have had dogs. so not sure that our suburb is a tick area. will be home the rest of the week so easy enough to keep close watch.
-
i can add more to the list * she has slower breathing then normal, compared to my male dog who is breathing like he has been running around. * gums normal pink colour. *reactive to hand movements to the face and eyes so responsive. *still eating food but a little bit slower than normal. (her normal is slow anyway) *edited to add she obviously isn't that darn sick as she has made her way onto the lounge the bugger! sprawled out! ahh well

please list them, the heat here is unbearable and the dogs have had to be outside part of the day today (understelter, ice cubes in water wet the ground and laid damp towels out) and yesterday due to work and then brought straight into the a/c and colder house as soon as i arrived home. and i could tell she wasn't well last night and still the same today. she looks lathargic, slow when walking back legs weak, vomiting small vial and eating grass of what i have seen, looks to be weak like an old dog. what can/could this be will be going to the vet tomorrow if no improvements. can rapid temp change cause these symptoms my other dog just seems to be bothered a little by the weather but he jumps into the pool to cool down and seems 100% fine, not showing anything like my other dog. she ate warm raw meat at dinner last night she ate pretty slow and the heat wasn't nice so not sure if it can be food poisoning?? atm both are inside on tiles laying/resting/sleeping but she seems in a bit of discomfort by the heat. or would this just being a case or needed rest after being sick like us? suggestions please

Is It Just Me, Or Do Some People Just Don't Get It ?
BMAK replied to BMAK's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
What a bitch, there is a reason why there are must "ON " lead areas as they are for everyone to be safe whether you dog is dog aggressive they are on lead and can be controlled and then there are stupid ass hole like these people you walk about. i completely understand when a dog has a tendancy in to come up to another dog to socialise but there is a way to do it. The other day down at the local store i had my DA dog with me on lead and there were two mafia tattooed men in there aged 20-30's and they had a sweet labby off lead laying by his feet i purposely took a hugeeee wide birth around to the other side of the enterance and put macca behind trolleys so the dog wouldn't see or move he seemed well behaved as did what was told but macca move into sight and the lab went to come over so i moved away quickly lab didn't respond fully so the man came over grabbed his dog and apologised inmediantly then delt with his dog and gave him a firm commmand to down and stay back where he was ment to be with a small smack on the bum. -
i would build up more obedience if you are thinking of competing in agility.. i often see really fast agile dogs running who do great course work but there recall and stays are pretty hopeless but agility is all about fun! A recall and strong stays and focus work will do your dog good, being off lead and at a distrance gives your dog the oppertunity to explore if you don't have the realiable basics it gets you frustrated when you dogs doesn't respond.

His name is Macca yep a kelpie he is part barb kelpie. has really dark chocolate markings but only visible in the sun. Cowpoo haha your dogs (flynn and moo) are so beautiful to look at. makes me want an Aussie so bad week 5/52 the was the only decent shot with his eyes open sitting up, as he was sleeping on the cold tiles in the A/C poor thing! tuff life

The bow is more of an invitation for play i would think ? when my dog bows a few times boucing around she is trying to intince the other dog to join in and then do what ever whether chasing tug or running so ther list could go on whether you are doing the bow or the play. As play can cover a lot of different areas in dogs. Is fear aggression the fear of uncertain outcome of what is going to happen?? Sometime uncertain interaction of another dog, human or object noise of sometime just bad breeding can lead to lashing out. Might be easier to get basic photos of what you are going to talk about and when you have finished get better ones of different and more precise actions as it might help to explain.
