I get where you are coming from with ppls comments, you need to brush them off have fun and talk to the more positive ppl at trials, tune out the others I get comments all the time, [you need to run faster] translated -- loose weight , as I was leading out once sm1 said "yeah she is a big girl "I heard it and knew the voice , but tuned it out. even to the extent that a judge said 'loose weight "instead of congrats at presentations . Hey I'm active and out there doing stuff , not sitting on my fat arse , instead I run my fat arse round all over the place , like I give a fly #$%^&* what they think . It affects me not them . I tune it out and go on my way Hopefully you can do the same and then your dog may not pick up on it , if it is that ,it may help to give them all the finger and just have fun :D

Do You Have A Foster That You Regret Rehoming?
Chezy replied to Staffyluv's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
mine wasn't a foster, but I rescued Ricki from a farm, she was going to get a bullet . I had no intention of rehoming her , but these people that had come to a trial to look at another dog seemed like the perfect home , I felt that I had to let her have a chance , she was not looking to be any good at agility , so I let her go on trial , that night I cried . It didn't work out , she was too much for them and she came back, then and there I said that is it she is staying  she is doing agility now and she does my head in at times I love her to bits and am glad she is back, even if she is hell in a small package sometimes :) -
There was a ute round here for a while that was hang round at a friends place and seen to let the dogs on the back rev up the resident dogs, we thought they were just rev up , but now I wonder if they were trying to steal them . I will find out if any1 ever got a plate from it . was seen a couple of times and I was warned about them .Thing was they never did anything so nothing could be done .

If ppl are always telling u to read properly , then maybe you should your opinion doesn't matter to me
-
i didn't say he comes closer after a smack, i said I can raise my hand and he comes closer, as showing that I obv dont belt the crap out of my dogs all the time, so they aren't scared of me. The smacks are usually a reaction to getting half a hand ripped off  and he knows why he got it as it is instant, then next treat is taken gently . So how can u say they don't know why they got a smack read it properly eta to correct a typo

I wonder at times at what level do people consider it reportable, i have at times hit a dog, just recently i had a foster go rolling across a field in a crate, she was getting worked up and I was trying to catch the crate, to get her attention I hit the crate and yes her , not hard , just to get attention, some people would have considered this hitting and reported me it is not by any means bashing , I have given Chopper and smack when he has taken half my hand with a treat , this is not bashing and he doesn't cringe when I raise a hand to him , in fact he wags his tail and comes closer  Like people smacking kids, there is a difference between a smack and belting/ bashing , where is the line drawn I have seen dogs cringe when a handler has raised a voice , i don't immediately think he/she bashes that dog, as I have a foster that was mistreated and if she thinks she is in trouble she will cringe , so dog reactions are not always telling of treatment by a current owner , or if the animal is just shy

oh he is super cute, hope he keeps improving :)

what about sensor lights, you sound like you don't actually want another dog , no guarantee it will be a barker either , sensor lights are quite cheap and easy to install . as for the power and water, you can contact them and be put on a list that you make a set day for inspection , or you can self read and they do a read on appointment once a year .

How To Attract Foster Carers
Chezy replied to honeybun's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
from my perspective , I am very wary of joining a group because of some of the ones I have seen , esp a certain one that grabs all and I know does not look after it's carers , stories relayed via others exp and sometimes reading posts . I have now fostered a dog on my own and she is going to her new home on trial this week, she has been with me since march for learning manners , basic training and now I have found her the perfect home . The one thing I have learnt from that is that I need a pen area , which i can't afford, so I wont be doing it again for some time . I wont take a dog unless it has been quarantined and not many seem to do that . I am sure that if a rescue inspected my place they'd reject as my fences are not tall enough , but i have dog with cd title and could have more but I find obed boring , he has master and open agility titles and another dog I rescued myself and she has started agility this year . I offered a few groups to foster and never got even a bite . Sometimes it is not what you are doing, it may be what others have done . -
I have done agility for 7/9 days [did ACT the weekend before] what are we going to do now it over my 1st nationals and I loved it didn't do great , but we had fun :D

For Those Who Say There Are No Or Less Risk
Chezy replied to Mystiqview's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It was Paralysis. While on the cat it was the light grey. I live in a very high paralysis tick area and I know a paralysis tick when I see one (have seen enough in my time and removed just as many off the livestock and dogs). It is not often you get to see them that large and to that stage. They animal if contained within their owner's property would have been showing signs long before we found the cat and the tick would not have been as large. Aside from that. The Vet confirmed paralysis tick. Even the vets had commented they had not seen a paralysis tick that large in some time. It has been some 20 years since I have seen a tick get that large on a host animal. Between the vet taking it off the cat, putting it into a specimim bottle then back out to me and my I-phone camera in the waiting area.. the tick had darkened up quite a bit. I-phone cameras are not known for their clarity or great photo taking capabilities. The sign on the vet wall when I was in there they have had 9 paralysis tick cases for June already requiring hospitalisation. It was the colour that i was wondering about, blood must have dried and made it dark , all I have seen are as u mention lighter -
