people do strange things under stress or with no money. sounds like an inside job to me though.

Plenty of shady trees, swimming pool and couple of buckets of water. will often hose the dog down, and wet the area the like to lie in so that its cool for them. As soon as its possible the dog comes inside into airconditioning. Depends on if its dry heat or humid heat, here it can be 30 degrees but 80 % humidity which really drains you

My dog doesnt like anything plastic. She loves to death anything made of material, and she can work at the stitching for hours just to find the hole so she can pull the stuffing out.

I agree with the others that it is the owners issue to deal with and if at 4 years of age, it hasnt been socialized properly, its probably not a good idea starting now with unfamiliar environment, handler and dogs.

Isnt there a post somewhere else about playgroups for dogs - the rangers could be 'seen' out and about and educate people but again its not the group of people that we want to target.

what peeves me is the express checkouts where you are only supposed to have 10 items or less and someone goes up with 34 items. again it comes down to ignorance and not being accountable for actions and not giving a you know what about who else it affects

More parks would help me - the only one near me is right next to a skatepark which has lots of lots of drug problems and behaviour problems so it is not safe for me to take my dog.

(which I have to do via the local council office!!!), only to be told that there is "no-one available to take my call" and to leave a message" I agree with this too, particularly on days like new years day with all the dogs that have been scared off with fireworks - have lost count number of times I have come across scared, stray dogs who really need help on that particular day.

Was going to suggest using off leash parks and dog areas as meeting places and information points to people. A discussion board could be put up, leaflets targeting a particular area, self help tools to deal with issues and behaviours etc. but then I was thinking, its probably the more responsible people that are using these areas to begin with, so it may not help with the overall situation.

My staffy always needs to have a drink when I get home, and a pee in the front yard. then she wants to play. Its like she has been waiting all day just to have a drink and a pee

no it had a rounder body, and was bordering on silver/white/dark grey colour. Im sure (but not so sure ) that it had two pairs of legs at the top end of the body and two pairs at the bottom end.

i use advantix normally but for some reason i changed over to frontline last time - mistake on my part especially as frontline is no good for mossies. It was just really strange, the people I spoke to yesterday said they look like bush ticks which we arent supposed to have in north queensland. Have checked the tree again and cant see anything, but will remain vigilant. Hopefully I might have caught them at the right time as there were approx 20 - 25 of them which gave me the heebie jeebies. thanks for your replies.

showed two people a specimen of the insect and they both feel that they are ticks. Will try to get confirmation from vet and will be very vigilant with the dog.

just had a quick look on net, really really hoping i havent got a problem. how often can you put frontline on a dog - she was in the kennels three weeks ago for four days, had to be frontlined before she went, had bath when came home, was bathed and frontlined again last week, was in kennels for last three days. gave her bath yesterday when she came home, would it be safe to do her again????
