I thought squeakers could become dangerous if they come outside the toys? Maybe I'll have to encourage him to get interested in food-filled toys instead Yes, they can. As soon as the squeaker is removed, I use bribery to get it away from my dog. I don't leave him unsupervised with toys. Bribery works XD What about when you leave him alone and expect him to entertain himself? Does he have some toys for those times?

My two (wheaten and kerry respectively) can destroy a cuz toy within a couple of hours. The problem with these is they don't squeak. My dogs aren't interested in things that don't make a noise. I thought squeakers could become dangerous if they come outside the toys? Maybe I'll have to encourage him to get interested in food-filled toys instead

' Ask him if the same applies to the parents of pet shop puppies. Puppy farm dogs deserve good homes too. Every sale from a pet shop keeps two dogs in misery. That's a good one (and yet so, so sad :D ), I'll tell him that, thanks!

RUFF WEAR, definitely! You'll have to remind me what size Erik is again. I think you said xxsmall but I can't remember D: We have a four door sedan and mom doesn't want the dog in her car at all so I'll probably be opting for one of these: http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Pet-Car...24cm-p14758.htm It sounds good in theory but I'm not sure well it will work.. hm. I'll be braiding my own tug toys because I think doing that stuff is fun and I want to make him a present for when he comes home

Unfortunately that's wrong! Kong Wubbas can be chewed through quite easily.. Took 4 months for my two to get around to it, and that's rare.. normally things are killed in a day. Their second Wubba only lasted a night before they put a hole in it. They still play with the 'skin" from the first one though They are great toys though, Ozpetshop is the cheapest I've found. Our everlasting Fun Ball hasn't been killed yet, its tougher than the Fireplug which I was recently bragging hadn't been killed, but now it has Cuz toys are the best. I can't believe it took 4 months for your dogs to kill a Kong Wubba that got killed in about 2 days here, yet my Leo is going strong and yours lasted a couple of hours :D So maybe Kong Wubba is not the best investment then

Good job, LizT. I've been trying to convince my friend that pet shops are bad for a while now.. he keeps insisting "well every dog deserves to find a home, even the ones in pet stores!" Dunno what to say to him anymore

I will take a look, thank you

I'll definitely have to go and have a look--I'll check on dogs qld, maybe there are show dates there that I can figure out somehow.

At dog shows they do most of the time. Most things you would need to show your dog. They do everything from grooming stuff to show leads to gazebo and crate mats to puppy pens. No idea when the next show in brissy is on but i'm sure someone will be able to tell you. That's pretty cool. Never would have thought that there was cheap stuff there--usually, when you go to a comic book convention, everything is 100x more expensive than it would be elsewhere and I thought that the same would apply everywhere I love the blue crates at topbuy but I was late in getting one I also figured the xxxxxxxxlarge sizes would be a bit overkill for a Vall. But nobody has bought any of the green ones so I haven't a clue whether the green ones are the same quality as the blue! I'm so picky...
-
They're great for shows! They make good grooming tables and also are collapsable, and are really hard to break haha! Not to mention the fact you can literally cart your dog around. It'll be especially good if I ever decide to get a second dog in the next 5-10 years ETA: also, that's what a blanket's for! Cart your dog around?? No free rides over here, the dog will have to walk alongside me.. I did want to get a collapsible soft crate for Hugo though when we go to shows. Something easy and light we can carry around
-
I'm in South East Brissy Maybe they have a website with a store locator or something... I know how you feel, Lottie, I'm a bargain hunter too. Not cheap, "bargain hunter"--that makes it sound less bad LOL. Hang on Shell, they sell stuff at pet shows????????????????? Does anyone know when the next show in Brisbane is on?
-
I'm gonna have a browse on ebay.. I don't know of any pet barns in Brisbane, though I'm not really savvy with all the pet supply stores.. yet That looks like a circus cage I thought that maybe a soft crate would be more comfortable for the dog (and look less like the dog is imprisoned XD).

Woah, that's hardcore! I'll ask my breeder if the equipment is similar, I think she might have mentioned something about a pin brush.

When Zero's around functionality and practicality beat fashion. I couldn't care less what I look like really as long as Zero is well taken care of when we're out. I could tell you what's in my grooming box too but that might scare you. Let's just say that the running tally of what i have as far as grooming goes is well over the $1000 mark and I don't own a hydrobath (yet). Jeez! That's a lot to spend on grooming a dog.. I don't spend that much grooming myself.. Maybe I'm well suited to be a crazy dog lady wearing a bumbag haha. I know Valls have a double coat but I don't think they shed half as much as Huskies do--I actually don't know what sort of grooming products to use or what brushes are suited to what fur type and so on
-
i got mine in big W - it was about $16 from memory. You can get them in a lot of places though! I've seen them in toy stores, target, k-mart, big w and even down at our local bunnings. They'll get more common as the weather heats up I'll make sure to shop around then, I've been wanting one of those for a while now. One half for me, one half for Hugo. It would be perfect
-
Well you're certainly prepared for anything! I like the look of the doog walkie belts but I'm worried about looking like a crazy dog lady wearing a bumbag
-
I have also heard that you can find a lot of them when spring cleaning comes along and people leave them in front of their houses.. Would love to just pluck some stuff up, also seen COUCHES on the sidewalk, and that would probably make a fantastic outdoor bed for a dog.
-
So many things that Zero has is on my wishlist.. I've been looking around for clamshell pools EVERYWHERE but they're all sold out!! Are they only sold in Kmart? Love the crate, it looks really tough and that nametag is the perfect touch And I'm definitely going to be getting one of those harnesses (maybe without the backpack though, I dunno what use I would get out of the backpack portion that's worth paying double the harness )!
-
Aren't sticks dangerous because they can splinter? We have a whole pile in the backyard, we'll have to get rid of them soon so the dog doesn't get into them. Oh my dear... naughty Maverick!!! Would you look at that "What did I do; I didn't do anything??" expression he's carrying
-
LOL!! That's terrible, and the bed looks so expensive too! So maybe it's a good idea to buy cheapies first and see how he does with them before I invest in more expensive products It's better buying a 20$ kmart kids couch and not having him sleep in it than investing in an $80 bed and not having him sleep in it!
-
Is Bargain Basement a real store? I don't think we have any of those in Brissy unfortunately. Oooh, sticks, those definitely aren't indestructible We're going to have a strict no going on the furniture rule around this house.. except for of course at night when mom can't see my drag the puppy into my bed. Can't wait for the fun to start
-
Swedish Vallhund "Bloody long legs on those wombats!" A condom bed looks like a condom http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php...;threadid=70758 Just don't go looking up "condom bed" on google images....... I've heard about the Cuz toys as well! Thanks for the link Vallhunds are big chewers apparently.I was looking at the reject shop beds, I don't remember if they were that expensive but they had a few interesting pet supplies there.. BonoFido beds I hear can outlast a lot of chewers out there!

;) I don't think it promotes aggression. Both my dogs are sooks. They play tug of war together and it always sounds nasty but they are just playing (really the litle dog just gets dragged round making a load of noise LOL). We also play tug of war with them and the little dog growls and snarls....the big dog won't actually play it with us much. Shock horror, we even let them win tug of war soemtimes LOL Haha, you gotta let the kids win sometimes.. I might actually make my own tug toy. Heaps of great websites out there that teach you how to make your own dog toys :D Was considering making one of those condom beds too, but for hours work..... if it's gonna get chewed up instantly, I'd rather just buy the $20 kmart fold-out kidsofa!
-
Cool, so I'll add a rope toy to my list. I was initially worried that playing tug would promote aggression (this is what one of my neighbors have been telling me). But then again my neighbors have aggressive dogs without rope toys so I'm not sure I should trust their advice :D

Cool! Bargains :D I've heard good things about the fantastic foam balls.
