It would depend on the rules, if they are allowed I would let them , if not I wouldn't. But usually take a plastic backed picnic rug or two if I am going anywhere just in case. If I was paying to rent a place that supplied bedding though, I would expect the doona to have been washed/cleaned between other guests whether they had dogs or not.

I'll just have to see how ours goes. We currently have a claim in, they have always paid fairly promptly before. I got a text on the 9th of May to say the claim was received and last night they emailed me an additional form for more information. I don't know what I will do if they start mucking us around. I really need to keep issy's cover high. The claim is for an attack so hopefully that's the reason for the extra request, although I sent a vet report,reference number for the council report and the ranger's name. The other owner left so don't have their details . I can stand the premium hike (just) but will be annoyed if they up the premiums and then start refusing claims.

How terrible for you, I hope the council can take some action, I know it won't replace your beautiful dog, but the other irresponsible idiot owner should be held accountable. I also sincerely hope you can find some peace of mind. Nobody can know how they will react in any situation until they are in it and then you just have to do what seems right in the moment . Absolutely on both counts. And for my other old girl I continue to pay her Pet Plan premiums as she's too old to change now. As for Mac, I've borrowed from my mortgage, lived on rice and lentils and stacked up credit cards to the point I'm sure I could have had a year in first class on the Queen Mary for what I've spent! But he's my boy, my heart dog, my first, my 'floorboards' () and while he still has good quality of life I'll continue to hand the credit card over... and close my eyes and sign... This pretty much sums up how I feel with Issy. We call her our "new roof" rather than floor boards though. One of her ops was $6,000.00 dollars. Her hip joint on the other side is just as bad so I will give up a lot before I have to let her insurance lapse. I definitely think she is worth it whilst she has good quality of life.

Wow it sounds like they have really dropped the ball with some customers. We got notification of the Premium hikes in plenty of time. However my experience of claims has been a bit different in that they have never to date quibbled or taken ages. They have paid out well over ten thousand dollars on one of ours and several thousand on the other. I haven't been able to find comparable cover any cheaper and some companies won't even provide a quote. I guess we will stay with them for now and find something else to give up to cover the cost. I daren't leave Issy uninsured in case her other hip goes.

Glad Maddie is home with you and I had to smile at Stan throwing his hippo about in a tanty. They are very resilient. I hope Maddie heals up quickly and has no lasting effects. I am also pleased you are going to the Dr. it sounds like you took a bit of a battering, can someone go with you the first time you try and walk the dogs as well? I know it is too soon for them to go for a bit , but Maddie might not be the only one affected. It would be good to have some support for your first outing. Hugs to everyone.

Thanks Huski, I had just been wondering how it hit critical mass vs being ignored if a number of folk had seen it over a few weeks. Maybe that's why people think petitions will help - they can email them instantly to a lot of others and once there is enough "noise" some action is usually taken, even if there is no explanation of what outcome there has been?

Oh no, that's absolutely terrible. Sending healing thoughts, I hope they are both okay and that you are alright too, it must have been very frightening. Did the owners make an appearance or were the other dogs just running loose? I hope you can get them to pay the vet bills, I know that won't help poor Stan and Maddie but they should have to at least do that.

If you knew this how come you didn't report it? Not stirring, just genuinely curious as to why if people were aware of it they would not call RSPCA/Store/Shopping Centre or did you report it and it is only getting more publicity as it has gone viral?

Yeah, been following it all day as well. RSPCA have also copped some serious flack. Oscar's Law also wading in. Poor pup, not the first time I have seen a sick/ injured pup in a window at a Westfield shopping centre. I found that getting a staff member and pointing out the issue had no effect at all. Ringing the Manager did result in the sick pup being removed from sight but I am not confident it "helped". Because the code here is not mandatory shops like this are free to do pretty much as they wish. It is stomach turning the state of some of the puppies and kittens.

My two are brush coats Sail Away,so short coat but pretty dense - but my sister's OH has a horse coat boy (Jonah), and he wears one of these without any issues, although he is nekkid apart from his tick collar at home. They look good.. seem to be similar to the Ezydog ones as it has the neoprene and webbing but just no buckle...thank you. Hi Sail Away, the Clean Run ones don't have any neoprene, it is more like padded ripstop with a strong reflective strip (just don't want to misrepresent them)! I will see if I can get a clearer photo for you. I have some that are a couple of years old, lots of swimming, salt water, chlorine and they are still going strong. We use K9Pro gear a lot of the time and have their leather martingales, leads and also slip leads, but I don't want to ruin them on the beach.Maybe it is time for a Syntek martingale Huski? LOL.

Just checking in to send more good wishes to Fur Panto and also to you Panto.

We take ours, but only to a couple of cafes we already know are dog friendly and have a good set up for them. I always do at least one dogless trip first to scope them out. My favourite is Reef Point Cafe at Scarborough. They have loads of outdoor tables under the trees well away from anyone who might object. It is directly over the road from the dog beach, they have water in a big 5 gallon container and bowls, although we always take our own. The chef makes the dogs scrambled eggs with no salt or pepper for breakfast, we take food bowls too. It is a favourite Sunday morning outing. Swim and run at the beach, then big brekky under the trees looking at the boats and the Glasshouse Mountains across the bay. I really hope they continue to allow it, there are usually quite a few dogs, I have never seen any drama, they stay under/beside the table and don't bother anyone. The dogs love it and usually get a few pats. I am more disturbed by the recent proliferation of portly 50+ gentlemen who seem to believe it is imperative to wear a full suit of lycra, to ride a mountain bike a kilometre along a cement seaside path; so they can flop around in the cafe for a couple of hours. Quite put me off my sausage. The other place we are about to try, having been twice without the dogs to check it out and make sure it is dog friendly is the boat club at Shorncliffe, they make an awesome breakfast and have a huge outdoor area, again water provided for the dogs and they said as long as the dogs were well behaved - no problem. Lots of the boaties who stop by on long trips have dogs with them and we saw a gorgeous Afghan puppy and a couple of other "regulars" today. They were all well behaved and the dogs can have a swim off the dock.

There has been a spate of attacks in Moreton Bay Region, not just dogs either, two Kangaroos shot with bows and arrows at Toorbul, a horse shot at Kurwongbah and a dog with it's throat cut in Deception Bay as well as the boxers Donatella has already posted about. There is an appeal on the Crimewatch Facebook page. It is sickening, we are keeping a closer eye than usual, our two have no access to the front if we are not home. It is hard to know whether to hope they are related and whoever is responsible is caught quickly or hope they are not because that means there are a number of very sick individuals about. Either way I hope someone is caught and fast.

If they didn't x-ray and you don't have on going pain meds, plus have noticed a change with the whimpering, I would call the vet if you can Kirislin and see what they suggest. Very hard to know if you should move her to take her back in,if she is in pain and just needs rest. It must be very stressful for you, sending more healing vibes.
