People not picking up after their dogs making it look bad for everyone CBD to ban dogs THE push to make Atherton's Main St a dog-free zone is gaining support, according to councillor Peter Hodge. Cr Hodge unleashed his campaign at the start of the month following an incident where dog poo was spread throughout businesses on Main St. "We are meant to be trying to attract consumers to our shops not scare them off," he said at the time. "In this instance the poo was spread in and out of shops and all over the street." At present the CBD is technically a dog-free zone but the by-laws do not give council officers the power to enforce it. Cr Hodge is determined to change that. Last week he called for a report to be prepared into changing the by-law and making the CBD both dog and skateboard free. "I have been doing a lot of talking with business owners and the community and skateboards has repeatedly come up as another big issue," he said. "Neither belongs in our shopping precinct." As part of his consultation process Cr Hodge has been surveying people in the area. "I have surveyed 35 business owners in the CBD so far and 33 of them support the ban," he said. Tablelands Mayor Rosa Lee Long said the TRC must also consult the wider community before making a final decision.

ok have done a bit of research, i have read some of Ollies thread and some of the others but there is a lot of chit chat to go through to get the relevent info so as i just skimmed over it i probably missed alot :) Sorry to read those people ho have lost their lovely dogs though i am going to look at natural treatments as he has always lived a natural life, raw diet, not overly vacinated, tested for worms instead of just treated for them etc from what i did get out of reading will buy some Essiac Tea, ester c and fish oil to start with to go with his already raw diet I reread his pathology report and he has a high grade 3, mitotic index is 11/10hpf whatever that mean but that was what they based his survval of under 2 months thankyou everyone for the support as its helped me to not give up on him and admit defeat, we will fight it as much as he can
-
Yeh he has been on a raw diet all his life Thanks I will get in touch wih some vets here in Brisbane before I go
-
Thanks everyone He is currently only getting antihistamine as treatment from vets, he has been on a natural diet since he was 8 weeks old He lives with my parents rurally so no natural vets or he isn't near big smoke but I am going there next week and will do as much research as I can before I go to see what we can do to help him so thanks heaps for the suggestions I will definately spend the weekend reading Ollie's thread and will make an appointment with his vet while I am there to test what she believes or doesn't to help him. My parents were never really dog people but obviously fell in love with him when I left so kept him, they haven't ever had to deal with vets until now as he hasnt had to go until now.

Thanks Harley, it's sad as I read the lab report and said he could only have 2 months. It's just a big shock I think as he hasn't been sick a day in his life then ends up with this

My poor 9yr old GSD has had a tumour removed from his leg, was a grade 3 mast cell tumour He lives with my parents now so I am going home to visit him next weekend for the week

Garden Pests Make A Dog Sick ?
aus_k9gsd replied to aus_k9gsd's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
that is possible as i have had to save big frogs many times from the dogs and relocate them out the front and with all this rain around plus we have a empty overgrown paddock behind us Erny, i thought that as well as a friend had nearly an entire litter of malamutes get that from eating slugs but i spoke to a vet today and she doesnt think so given the symptoms, which is a relief, we discussed possibility of Giardia, coccidiosis etc but i would think she wouldnt of recovered so quick and without drugs which made me think of poisoning of some sort. Its got me wondering whats going on as we have lived here for years and no issues then in the last few months 2 dogs with same symptoms, looks like they will be locked inside at night and only allowed out with close supervision -

No there isn't any water pooling around the yard or no containers etc with water in it -
Can slugs or other pests make a dog sick. I only ask as I have now had 2 different dogs after heavy rain get violently ill, first one we thought wa a bacterial infection but 4 months later after days of raining my other little dog came in last night vomiting, white gums, she felt cold to touch an her eyes were glassy. She stopped vomiting but then had bad diarrhea. It's not toad poisoning so I am stumped at what's happening

I have min pins and a German pinscher, I don't mind them with tails but they all have lovely straight tails as I don't like the look of them when they curl over there backs Only issue I have is people calling the min pins chihuahuas

thanks gwenneth, its great everyone gets along as i have a chihuahau and 2 min pins as well Ace my GSD is a little more layed back then Jinx but thats more his layed back nature, he is also a typical GSD that has to be with you all the time where as she is quite happy to go off on her own and amuse herself outside for hours. She is very smoochy and loves her cuddles and will snuggle up with me on the lounge, which can be interesting when you have all of them trying to snuggle, my lounge gets very crowded My friend trains my dogs, she is a gsd breeder and is quite impressed with how quick and easy it is to train her, she is very much like my min pins who are happy to please to get some food as a reward as they are little pigs :D
